hanks are in order. Aside from reflecting on some of my favorite things about Fargo Monthly this year, the other thing that comes to mind is some of the great people that helped us along the way. From subjects to contributors, there are so many people involved with making this magazine and the stories that happen each month. I truly have a hundred people to thank, but here are a few I’d like to give shout outs to.

2016 was a great year for Fargo Monthly. We learned a lot, tried new things, put out issues we’ve never done before and tested our creative limits. June The Flavor Awards I’m so proud of how this issue turned out in general and I can’t thank the restaurants and public enough for supporting our first ever Flavor Awards. Our graphic designer Sarah Geiger absolutely nailed it with the cover story designs to showcase the winners. Just when I thought the food photos couldn’t look more award-worthy (pun intended), the design elements put the cherry on top of the cake. Or bacon on top of a burger, whatever you prefer. One of my favorite food discoveries this year happened when we went to Deep Blue Seafood for one of our “5 Things To Eat & Drink This Month” columns. Favorite Cover August Chef BOY-ardee Every so often, someone’s story is more inspirational than normal to me. My story on Carter Cassola, a local 12-year-old aspiring chef and a 2016 contestant on Food Network’s Chopped Junior, was one of those stories for me. Watching Carter cook for us and talking with his dad, Steve Cassola, about their experiences and chasing your dreams was an interview I will always remember. Plus, Carter’s dish was delicious and I’m also a big fan of the Chopped shows, so it was fun to hear about their time on the show. August 13 Things To Love About Downtown Fargo Not only does this issue have my favorite cover of the year, but it also has my favorite cover story. Our “13 Things To Love About Downtown Fargo” story turned out to be incredibly informative. Overall, I think it properly highlighted the exciting things that are happening downtown and it has great information I didn’t know beforehand. I love downtown, and this story made me love it even more. And that cover is a true piece of beautiful artwork that I’d hang on my wall any day. (Cover design by Sarah Geiger, photography by J. 2016 AAF-North Dakota ADDY Awards We at Spotlight Media, the parent company of Fargo Monthly, had a great time attending this year’s ADDY Awards at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. Fargo Monthly took home a gold award in “Collateral Material: Publication Design – Series” for our May June, August and September 2015 covers and feature stories. Our sister magazine, Design & Living, took home a silver award in “Collateral Material: Publication Design – Cover” for its May 2015 cover. 19

lot happened in Fargo-Moorhead in 2016, but here are 10 memorable events and happenings from the year that we'll always remember.
2. NDSU Bison Football Team's Fifth Consecutive National Championship
The Bison made history this year by becoming the only college football team at any level to win five consecutive national championships. The FCS National Championship game against Jacksonville State took place in Frisco, Texas, in January and the Bison took home yet another trophy after a 37-10 win. (Photos by Paul Flessland)
1. The First Ever North of Normal Frostival
Since we can't do anything about the conditions that Mother Nature so graciously gives us, the Fargo-Moorhead Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Fargo-Moorhead) found a way for the community to beat the winter doldrums and embrace the cold. This year's Frostival was packed with three days of snowy events at the end of January, including s'more-making fire pits, a hot cocoa cookoff, yoga in the snow, snow golf, sled races, snow kickball, snow disc golf, a bike race, plenty of activities for kids and so much more. 3. The Block 9 Tower Project Makes Headway
Plans for the Kilbourne Group's Block 9 Tower were approved earlier this year on what is sure to be one of Fargo's most epic buildings. While many of the details are still being ironed out, this 18-story downtown tower is currently planned to house a wedding venue, rooftop garden, skyway access, European-style hotel, retail, businesses and a plaza with green space that has potential to hold a splash pad, skating rink or a bandshell. kilbournegroup.com (Rendering courtesy of the Kilbourne Group)
4. Downtown Fargo's New Mixed-Use Event Center
The Sanctuary Events Center, renovated and transformed from the old St. Mark's church by the Kilbourne Group, became one of downtown's newest hot spots for concerts, weddings, retail shops, business, events and more. Jade Presents assistant talent buyer Carly Bishoff told us in an interview from our August issue, "Ever since the venue at The Hub closed, we have been lacking a mid-sized space where people can come and experience live entertainment. This is right smack in the middle. 5. Carson Wentz Drafted Into The NFL
This one is no secret, as Carson Wentz has become a household name all over the nation. In April, the Philadelphia Eagles selected the former NDSU Bison football quarterback with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Although Wentz suffered a rib injury during the team's first preseason game of 2016, he quickly bounced back became the starting quarterback once the Eagles traded quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings. 6. The 12th Annual Fargo Marathon
This year's SCHEELS Fargo Marathon was one for the books, and saw 50 states and 10 countries represented by the participants. Races for all ages and types took place, including the youth run, 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon and the newly added Cyclothon (for the bicyclists) and the Furgo Dog Run (for runners and their furry friends). 2017's Fargo Marathon will take place on May 20. 7. Garth Brooks Returned To Fargo
In May, country music legend Garth Brooks made an epic return to Fargo after 17 years. Tickets sold out quick and fans packed into the Fargodome for Brooks' not just one, but four nights of shows with his wife and fellow country superstar Trisha Yearwood. (Photo by Paul Flessland)
8. FMWF Chamber's Corporate Cup
The Chamber's annual Corporate Cup sold out this year, with a large number of businesses participating in this year's competitive and noncompetitive athletic events. Teams battled for points in activities such as basketball, an obstacle course, volleyball, cycling and more. 9. Fargo Monthly's Burgers, Bourbon and Beer Festival
Our third annual Burgers, Bourbon and Beer Festival took place in June at the Great Northern Bicycle Plaza. Ten area restaurants grilled up tasty burger sliders, plus there were beer samples courtesy of DS Beverages and Drekker Brewing Company, bourbon samples courtesy of Republic National Distributing and a stellar live performance from local funk masters Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome. 10. TEDxFargo 2016
One of the biggest TEDx events in the country happened again in Fargo this past July. This year's TEDxFargo event, which focused on the theme of acceleration in the community, saw over 20 speakers from around the country with thousands of people in attendance. The main event itself had a festival-like vibe with plenty of auxiliary and surrounding events for attendants to get even more involved with the ideas being spread. (Photo by J. We know that this establishment isn't exactly new after being open in Downtown Fargo since 2015, but NoBull gave themselves a major rebranding, slight name change and menu makeover this year. Chicken is still on the menu, but the restaurant has added smoked sausage, ribs and pulled pork as a part of the smokehouse name. Powerturn Fitness Studios
PowerTurn Fitness Studios opened this summer and caters not only to those interested in solo workouts, but those who want to exercise in groups and classes. In addition to strength and core-training classes, the studio's schedule features six different cycling offers for various rider levels. Class members can have their heart rate and other vitals tracked during workouts and sent to them after sessions. Sacred Earth Studio Dynasty Performance Training Former NDSU Bison football players Cole Jirik and Christian Dudzik opened a gym in South Fargo that specializes in athletic performance and adult fitness training. Their programs rely almost entirely on free weights, and are based on what the duo learned from Bison head strength and conditioning coach Jim Kramer in addition to their experiences training for the NFL. What used to be home to Monte's Downtown transformed into an alley-like dining experience that's inspired by the culture and cuisine of New Orleans and the south. Local tattoo artist Athena Funk now owns and tattoos out of her own shop, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. or by appointment. The Red Silo Mercantile
The Red Silo created an exciting new addition to their Broadway retail space. The Mercantile is a downtown marketplace featuring local farmers, bakers and creators. Expect to find items such as organic beef, eggs, baked goods, coffee, mixes, honey and sauces. The Mercantile also has gluten-free and vegan selections. The Round Up Saloon
The Round Up Saloon name is no stranger to the area. The original bar was located downtown on NP Avenue and Fourth Street North and was purchased by the current owners in 1990 but the spot had to close for city development. Garnish the edge with a cucumber slice.

O
ne year ago, Emerging Prairie was in a tight spot. We were nervous about making payroll, as some of our assumptions didn’t hold true and we were crunched for cash. Upon learning about the situation, I initiated a spending freeze on all disposable decisions and the team was asked to look through all accounts receivable to figure out if we had any unclaimed cash. We also conducted an exercise that was extremely critical to help our organization understand its value proposition and think through how we could weather this challenging situation. We planned our funeral. Were we going to “die” as an organization? No, that was unlikely.
However, we needed to think through who cared. Who would be affected if we went away? Who would be upset? Happy? We needed to know who we could count on to support our efforts through a tough time and to work through the discomfort of our situation. We started planning. We asked ourselves: Who would want to speak to show their remorse?
Who would attend? Who would offer gifts of appreciation? Who would be tearful? What would people say? What efforts might folks be willing to go to in order to bring us back to life? The exercise was critical for us. It helped us identify two faithful supporters that we eventually called and asked for help. Both responded in a meaningful way, offering us a financial gift to help us make payroll and finish the year strong.

The exercise also helped us clarify the key folks that worked with us and believed in our role in the community. Although the activity could be viewed as a bit morbid, it helped give our team insight into our work and how we could lean on the love and support of those that care about us. It was a reminder that we were adding value and folks did appreciate us. Now, our mantra is to continue to add to the funeral invite list with hopes of adding more and more
value to people in our community and beyond. My encouragement for you is to try out the experiment. Whether it be an existing venture or a new project, think through about who would care if you went away. It might just give you insight into your organization that can help you refine and deliver more impact.

MCT started in 1946 and, as I've read the history, there really wasn't theatre in FargoMoorhead at that time. The colleges didn't have it, the high schools didn't have it. It was a group of people who really wanted to bring theatre to the community. So they joined together and created this nonprofit, way back then," said Breikjern. Nestled in the trees of the Downtown Fargo park, The Stage at Island Park was a place for the volunteer performers to call their own, no longer having to shuffle their performances between a variety of places in the community. "It wasn't until around the 1960s that they decided, 'Now we need a home.' They worked with the Fargo Park District and were able to get this space. One gentleman on the board owned a construction company so he actually had his workers and other union workers come here and help build, free of charge. It was really put together by the community, a big community collaboration," said Breikjern. Making Magic FMCT's first show of this year's 70th season was the Tony Award-winning origin story called "Peter and the Star Catcher." Directed by Shannon Hill, the performance brought the magic of Neverland to life in the lesser known tale of Peter Pan, Wendy and the Lost Boys. FMCT's most recent show to be performed on The Stage at Island Park was a play inspired by famous novel,
"The Shining." Adapted by Jason Levering and Aaron Sailors, the historic version captured audiences with intrigue and horror and engaged author Stephen King himself. "We wanted to do 'Misery' originally but it was on Broadway so it wasn't available to us. Our artistic director at that time sent an email to Stephen King. Within 20 minutes, he responded along with his agent and said, 'Can we help these people out?'" said Breikjern. Arguably his first big hit, "The Shining" was originally written by King in play format but was converted to a novel, stylized for the movie starring Jack Nicholson and finally reworked back to a play. "In Omaha, they had just completed a first-time-ever play version of 'The Shining' as a fundraiser to save an old theatre, and then we were able to get it from that point. So you may never see it again. It depends on what the company and Stephen King wants to do with it moving forward," said Breikjern.
A Winter Wonderland Harnessing the soul of the holiday season, FMCT's next production will be Irving Berlin's "White Christmas The Musical." Following the journey of two famous producers who fall in love with a sister act and come together to save a Vermont Inn, this family Christmas classic directed by Daniel Damico will surely warm the hearts of every audience member. Q: What should the audience expect? A: "If people are familiar with the movie, it pretty closely follows that. When you're going to do a production like this, you have to contact the theatrical rental agent. It took us awhile to be able to get this. They put very close restrictions on how you do your logo, design, everything. So they're very strict with it, in fact, after we got permission to do it, just a month or two later, they took it off the market so no one else could get it." Q: Do you have any idea what the set or costumes will look like? 65

A: "I do, but I don't want to give it away too much. That's what we're working on right now. We have a scenic designer that will be coming in from out of town, and she has done some mock-ups of that. A scenic designer will provide you with drawings and sometimes a model of what the set looks like and, from that, she'll take an even closer look at the stage that we'll start building. We can see a picture of her visualization of it, but it always changes a little bit." Q: Can you talk a little more about the choreography that will be in the show? A: "Well, this show is from the 1940s so there's tap, which is quick and fastpaced. You think of the old movies, that's what you'll be seeing. The others are the big orchestrations of music where men and women are dancing, that type of thing. Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney were in the original, so that type of look and effect is what we're going for. This particular musical was done very close to the end of World War II and there is a salute to our military within the show." "We have college students from Minnesota State University Moorhead come in. They're the actors in the show, and then we invite area schools. Fargo Public Schools invites every kindergarten and second-grade class in the district and some outlying schools that come in to see this. We're also doing public performances this year. "We do a senior program in the spring, and then the entire summer we are working with children's shows. Kindergarten through third is one program, junior high is another that we collaborate with Moorhead Community Education on, and then we collaborate with Trollwood Performing Arts for high school." FMCT ED is a program offering acting classes for students in the fall and winter semester. Five classes total all occurring on Saturdays are available for children from five years old to eighth grade.
"When they step on to a community theatre stage, they're honing their skills, they're learning. We invite everybody in, even if they've never acted before, you never know what your ability might be. Same thing with technical work. If you want to come in and help build or learn lighting or sound, come join us, the door is always open," said Breikjern. orry to break it to you, but using the holidays as your reason for falling off track of eating right is just a cheap excuse. Don’t get us wrong, we say that in the most loving way possible, because we want you to succeed and get through the holidays successfully without bringing the extra holiday pudge into the new year.
• Minimize time at the grocery store. • Keep you from indulging in the holiday goodie buffet at the office. • Allow you to stay on track with your fitness and health goals. • Keep your holiday stress at a minimum, which will help with the stress eating. • Enjoy delicious, healthy meals throughout your holiday craze. • Minimize time food prepping.
Food prepping during the holidays is essential for not only staying in line with your health and fitness, but also for keeping added stress at bay. When you’re food prepping these simple recipes, we suggest that you use just one pan or tray, if possible. Instead of cooking everything on a different tray, go ahead and throw them all together–with the exception of the ground pork and chicken.
We've made it easy for you with six recipes that only use ten ingredients to food prep with. That’s right, only ten. Because we know just how hectic the holidays can be, we’ve slimmed the grocery list down to just a few ingredients so that you can spend the newfound time taking care of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and, more importantly, get some extra family time in the mix.
First off, let’s uncover the ten healthy ingredients you’ll be working with.
Each of the serving sizes mentioned in the recipes is for one serving. Simply duplicate the measurements in the recipes to food prep for multiple meals or family members. We suggest writing out when you plan to food prep in your planner, then stick to that day and time. Set aside a couple hours to cut, cook, portion out and then clean up. When you’re planning out your food prep party, start out by cooking the things that take the longest, such as the squash and sweet potato. From there, get your protein cooking, your veggies roasting and then piece together the rest.

OVERNIGHT OAT JARS What are they? Raw oats soaked in liquid in a jar, overnight. You get a creamy, cold oatmeal dish (or you can heat it up) that’s quick and easy to grab in the morning. Make all of the jars for the week, adding the liquid just the night before and shaking the jar to combine. You’ll have an entire week’s worth of breakfast ready, saving you time and keeping you full.

When you’re ready to eat, just dump in a bowl and enjoy. You’ll be surprised how much you can pack in these jars. one-pan hash We love easy dinners and combining all ingredients into one pot makes it easy to not only make, but also to clean up. Cook your chicken and ground pork separately ahead of time. Next, roast your chopped sweet potatoes and cubed squash (these are also used in the salad jars). We suggest roasting on one foil-lined pan in a 400-degree oven for 20-30 minutes, lightly drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. The same goes for the brussel sprouts–cut these first, then roast. This can be done on the same pan as the sweet potatoes and squash. When you’re ready to assemble your dinners, there are a couple ways to do so: 1. Keep ingredients separate and serve on plate. 2. Combine in one-pot on stove, stir, add in your favorite seasonings or even just a pinch of sea salt and pepper and bring all flavors together into a true hash.
Pork & Apple Hash
4-6 oz. ground pork ½ cup sweet potatoes 1 cup brussel sprouts ¼ cup chopped apple Top with slivered almonds & cinnamon

We kept all ingredients separate on our plate, but you can easily combine the ingredients in one pan (all items are pre-cooked from your meal prepping plan.) If you keep it separate like us, the apple is raw and crunchy, but if you decide to cook all items together in a pan and reheat, the apple will soften. Top with some slivered almonds and a sprinkling of cinnamon for a seasonal twist.

4-6 oz. chicken ½ cup squash 1 cup brussel sprouts ⅛ cup pomegranate seeds

lthough he’s never been a mall Santa, local resident Al Jastram has spread Christmas cheer in more ways than you can imagine over his 28 years of portraying good ol’ Kris Kringle. And over the last handful of years, he’s had the help of his wife Kay Jastram as Mrs. Claus and his longtime friend Jim Hagel as their elf. Clowns, Comedy & Christmas
It all started at a science-fiction convention. Or clown school, depending on how you look at it. Al met Hagel at a science-fiction convention back in the mid-‘90s before ending up in clown school together, where they got their start working as a clown duo performing comedy magic shows all over the region. In the meantime, Al had an opportunity through a company he used to work for to occasionally portray Santa Claus. He soon found that he loved doing it and more opportunities arose. About 13 years ago after years of being a solo Santa, Al brought his wife Kay on board as Mrs. Claus and the two became the first Mr. and Mrs. Saint Nick to open the Santa

Village at South Fargo's Rheault Farm, in addition to starting their own Christmas act for events and home visits. The couple spent three years working at Rheault Farm before they decided to focus mainly on doing home visits and events. Meanwhile, Al and Hagel were still doing comedy magic shows up until 2008 when Hagel took a break from performing. A couple years back, Al and Hagel reunited their magical comedy act Two Unkles, minus the clown getups, and Hagel also joined the Jastram’s Christmas program as the magical elf. The trio currently spends two weekends each year at a Santa Village in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in addition to doing home

visits, events, parties, parades and much more. And when you ask them if they stay pretty busy, they might give you an exasperated, humble chuckle of “yes” that really means, “Words can’t describe how crazy busy our holiday season is.” All three work full-time jobs in addition to the Christmas program during the holiday season, which starts as early as mid-October for them, and the comedy magic act year-round.
Spreading The Spirit
For example, an evening with the Jastrams and Hagel at a home visit starts with Hagel performing a Christmas magic show and singing songs with the audience as Mr. and Mrs. Claus’s elf, before introducing the jolly couple. “I do a Christmas-themed magic show, and when we start singing that’s usually the cue for Santa and the Mrs. to make their entrance and I introduce them,” said Hagel. “I control the line while Santa is talking to the kids, and I’ll entertain them while they’re waiting. I try to ask them questions and get one of them to ask Santa for something goofy, or try to find out from the rest of the kids who is nice and who is naughty.” As much as these three enjoy seeing the awe and wonder in kids’ eyes, there are a few challenges that come with portraying these holiday personas: the nonbelievers and the terrified. While Santa tends to take the spotlight, there’s always going to be someone who’s not a fan of Father Christmas. That’s where the important role of Mrs. Claus comes in.
“The little ones tend to warm up to Mrs. Claus before they do to Santa. I have more of that grandmother look,” said Kay. “We tell parents that if their child is afraid, they can walk away and take their time so that they can realize we aren’t going to hurt them. I can read them stories or give them stuffed animals to play with. That’s my role.” And then there are the nonbelievers. The trio is sometimes notified of children who are nonbelievers or may be on the fence. Kay said that her husband is great with handling such situations and has a special way of really getting kids to think twice. “I usually go on the offensive, especially if I get any advance notice from parents. You can tell when they walk up sometimes too,” said Al. “I’ll say something like, ‘See here, there’s enough negativity in the world without another nonbeliever. You realize what happens when you don’t believe anymore, right? All of those cool, fun presents that you really like, the video games, whatever it is–the minute you stop believing, they turn into socks and underwear.’”

But of course, Christmas spirit doesn’t allow much room for negativity, and that’s why all of the touching moments over the years fuel the holiday passion of Hagel and the Jastrams. “I’ve just found that I really enjoy doing this no matter what I’m doing it for. We’re all close friends, and

we work really hard at what we do to make it look good, whether it’s our comedy magic show or the Christmas program,” said Al. “The payoff comes either during or after the event when we get that instant feedback. I just really have a good time with the initial responses of the kids. That look of awe and wonder will never get old.” “Yes, we get paid, but we just have so much fun doing it,” added Hagel. And if you’re still a skeptic as to why someone would want to spend their holiday season being booked up to their neck with other families, Al has some advice for you that could easily touch your heart like it has his. “My advice to other grown-ups is that if you have the opportunity, even to do it once, play Santa. You will see Christmas from a whole different point of view. The awe and wonder in those kids’ eyes is just incredible. You’ll never forget it.”

Sometimes, people go all the way to the other side and are really picky and think hard about whether they like a person or if they want to be associated with them. Other folks are in the middle. I consider myself kind of in the middle. The filter that I use for my LinkedIn profile is: If you were to look at my profile and say, ‘Oh, I see you’re connected to so-andso. How do you know them?’ If I can answer that question, then I feel comfortable connecting with someone. “If it’s a sales connection, I decline those without any guilt. I want my LinkedIn network to be people who I can recommend in some
way, shape, or form or people who have similar passions as me." "It’s really about understanding what you want to get out of your experience with LinkedIn and then building your connections according to that. When it comes to connections, the single biggest tip I have for people is to add a to-do to your daily or weekly list of "next actions" (see sidebar) that is: Have I met someone today or this week that I should be connecting with on LinkedIn? For me, that's something that has made a big difference. "If you can just look at your calendar for the day or for the week and make those requests and just say, ‘It was really nice to meet you.’ That's organic and can help keep some momentum going with your profile."

Read this Jensen's company is named for a productivity process from one of her favorite books, "Getting Things Done." In it, the author, David Allen, argues that "next-action" thinking should replace the way most people think about productivity. "An example would be if we needed to go to the dentist," Jensen explains. "We'd put 'Call dentist' on our to-do list, but if we don't know the phone number, our real 'next action' is looking up the phone number. "I think that happens a lot in digital, too, so a big part of my focus is helping people move from having ‘I need to tweet today’ on their to-do list to coming up with things like, ‘I’m going to search the #ilovefargo hashtag and interact with people.’"

Social sales Jensen: "One of the things I want to open the presentation with is examples of successes my clients have had with different things that they were trying to accomplish in their job. “One of my favorites is when I was working with RDO. They got these brand-new 3D mapping drones, and the project we were working on was actually creating content for their website because they hadn’t yet talked about any of these products anywhere digitally. And they sold the first two drones off a LinkedIn post before they even made it into the store all because the GM had done a fabulous job of building his LinkedIn connections. "The guy who purchased those first two drones happened to be someone the GM had interviewed a couple years before for a job and was a guy he had a good connection with. He had moved several states south and now was in a position where he was in a purchasing role for the kind of technology that (RDO) was selling. "The lesson learned was that while the GM had done a really good job of investing in and creating his network, he had never talked about their products or any of the things they were doing, and it was when he started doing both that it made a huge difference.”
Investing in your network
Jensen: “If you are a leader in an organization, you can use LinkedIn to post messages of pride of accomplishment about your team, and the strongest way you can do it is by creating status updates and actually tagging people. “It can be a partner you worked with on a project or it can be a team member. When you do it, you can be pretty certain that the person will see it because—just like on Facebook or on Twitter— they’ll get a notification if you tag them. But then it can also be seen by the network of people connected to them, and it can initiate a conversation. “One of the best success stories I had with that was when I was at Onsharp and we launched the Family Healthcare website. I tagged the three folks I had worked with on the project and just said, 'It was such a pleasure to work with you,' and it was really nice because two of them came back and posted really nice thank-

“It's about taking that time to invest. I’ll likely talk quite a bit about posting and tagging but then also doing recommendations for people. Or even just using it as a tool to send quick notes. "One of the founders of LinkedIn wrote a book called ‘The Startup of You’ and in it he talks a lot about how you can provide value to your network. So there will probably be some points from there, in terms of giving those small gifts of information or time that reminds you of folks—to keep building and strengthening that network.”
Keywords & telling your story
Jensen: “I’ll talk about the importance of writing a good summary and about the importance of using keywords to help people find you. "Oftentimes, when you search someone's name in Google, the first thing that will come up is someone’s LinkedIn profile because it has strong search trustworthiness—'domain authority' is the technical term. And so in addition to just using your name or your brand, it can be really powerful to start using keywords. "Some of those keywords or terms can help increase your likeliness of being found—even when people are searching directly in LinkedIn.

yous about how much they liked working with our team. So often, it’s hard to take time to do that, but the fact that I said ‘thank you’ first and recognized them, they took a minute to write a sentence or two. And there’s no better social proof than that because it’s coming directly from them.
If you optimize for keywords on LinkedIn, it makes you more likely to be found more quickly because the domain authority is already there versus the time it takes for that to happen on your own website. So there’s a lot of power there. “Then there's just making sure that people think about—if you’re on a nonprofit board or if you do a lot of volunteering for an organization— making sure that you tell those stories through your profile. It's also an opportunity to give recognition to those nonprofits because it's good exposure for them, and it can be a simple way to raise awareness for the causes that are important to you.”
