QUESTION

For the past couple weeks whenever I call my boyfriend he hits ignore, sending me to voicemail and then texts me,”Hey! What’s Up!” He says, he doesn’t want to talk on the phone. I think he may be cheating on me. When we hang out his phone is always going off and he won’t let me see it. What do I do?

Dave from 107.9 The Fox

Well, no one here really KNOWS if this clown is cheating or not, but clearly his “ostrich” approach to modern romance and relationships is one to avoid. I agree that he’s not man enough to settle things between you so you can BOTH move on, therefore, I recommend the following... get whatever is left of yours from his place, car...whatever...make 7 or 8 long distance phone calls to inland China, unplug his ‘fridge and move on your merry way. Okay, maybe forget the fridge thing, since you are obviously the adult here. Regardless, this isn’t the guy you want to waste anymore time with. Maybe get a dog! Your soon-to-be-ex can go get a fuzzy glove. Good luck! Hope it works out for you.

I’m really glad that you picked up on his “not-so-subtle-hints”….He is totally He is totally over you and too big of a jerk to not call it off. He is waiting for you to be the “bad” guy. I’m sure he makes you feel like YOU are the crazy one and that YOU are possessive! BLAH BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! You need a real man who isn’t a TOOL!!! Hitting ignore is childish and you can do better sweetie! 20

Finding national headlining entertainers to come to Fargo North Dakota can be one heap of a task. This location presents obstacles like being off the track of most tours, weather situations making for nearly impossible attendance presumptions, and limited venues to hold events. When hearing all that, you almost want to say “forget that, there is no way!” Jade Nielsen, owner of Jade Presents in Fargo, has something else to say when it comes

to providing the Fargo area with national headliners, and that is “bring it on!” Jade has been booking and promoting concerts in this area for 20 years and with the consistent growth and trending popularity of this area, the job has become easier. His challenge now…how big does he want to go? FM Spotlight sat down with Jade for an interview and photo behind all this entertainment in Fargo-Moorhead.

Q&A with Jade NielseN

WHO HAVE YOU WORKED WITH IN THE PAST? We have worked with artists including: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, 30 Seconds to Mars, KoRn, A Perfect Circle, Godsmack, George Carlin, Jeff Foxworthy, Harry Connick Jr., “Weird Al” Yankovic, Steve Miller Band, Modest Mouse, Larry the Cable Guy, Meatloaf, Snoop Dogg, Disturbed and many more.

WHAT DO YOU DO? Jade Presents han23

dles the following: 1.) We produce concerts, festivals and private events. 2.) We purchase talent for clubs, casinos, schools, festivals and private events. 3.) We promote concerts and regional tours with national artists. 4.) We provide consultation to clubs, casinos, schools, festivals and private events.

WHO HAVE BEEN SOME OF YOUR CLIENTS? Our clients are both the artists we work with and local regional busi-

nesses, schools, and tions including: Microsoft Great Plains, Forum Communications, MSU Mankato & Moorhead, Concodria College, UND, Happy itCare Health, Fargo Downtown Community Partnership, and Culexclusive booking relationships with The Venue at The Hub, Fargo Theatre and Bluestem Center for the Arts.

HOW DID YOU START? About twenty years ago I helped organize a local benefit event and it went relatively well. After the event, I started getting some calls from touring acts and agents. From that point, I did it as a hobby for a few years and in

2000 I decided I should get serious about a career.

WHAT DOES THE FARGO-MOORHEAD COMMUNITY MEAN TO YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS? I went to South High and NDSU, so Fargo is home. This community has really made some strides with its support of arts & entertainment, a revitalization of downtown and a strong economic stance in the past 10 years.

WHEN DID BUSINESS REALLY TAKE OFF? hit

north, unless the act is heading to or from Winnipeg. Also, getting acts to take Fargo seriously as a viable tour stop is sometimes a challenge. However, headway with that over the years. With each successful event, that stigma of being

a small market in the Dakotas goes away ever so slightly. We also take a tremendous risk with our ever changing and extreme weather conditions.

WHAT IS YOUR TEAM AND OFFICE LIKE? We purchased a building downtown a few years back and have

occupied a few spaces within the building since…some not so comfortable. Ecce Art & Yoga lease most of the building, so we recently renovated the back loading dock and receiving area for our the industrial feel with exposed brick, wood beams and other char24

HOW DO YOU GAIN ACCESS TO SOME OF THESE NATIONAL MUSICIANS? Over the years, I have built relationships with almost all of the talent agencies in the country. It really helps to have years of experience and networking to be able to make a call and book an artist. Success breeds success as well, so when an act comes to town and does well, that word travels back to the agent, manager and other acts. That leads to, more calls, more tours, and a better variety of entertainment for the area.

Rather than working with Ticketmaster, or any of the other national companies, we created our own company. This allows us to control the fees charged, and allows us to give personalized service. The public can purchase tickets more -

We are excited about the renovations at the Hub. The revised Venue will be a tremendous asset to the FargoMoorhead community. They are expanding the facility to accommodate larger tours, which will give us a great opportunity to a greater variety of shows to the area. When the space possibly be considered one of the best performance and nightlife venues in the Midwest. Other than that, we are just going to keep working hard at helping the piness. This community has changed so much in the last decade and I am fortunate enough to be a part of the change while doing something I love every day.

charities and organizations. The girls not only manage the team, they also handle bout production as well as the business structure of the FMDG. They have taxes, make partnerships and everything else business related through their endeavour. Many people who go understand the rules. talk about the basics of the game. Derby consists of two periods of play, each period lasting 30 whistle sounds, the “pack” goes and are immediately followed by the “jammers.” If one of these jammers comes out ahead of the other one then that person is the lead jammer. Once a jammer gets past all the opposing players she gets points for every time she laps them. 41

THE Q REVIEW WITH Q98’S SPARKS

THE Q REVIEW OF YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM.

doesn’t have eyebrows. THE HORROR!! The man won’t ever be a winner…because his brother married a loser. Do some background checking on your players, they need to be in the right environment in order to thrive this season.

#1

THE NAME OF YOUR TEAM.

It all comes down to your team’s name It’s supposed to strike fear into the heart of your enemy, which in this case is probably “Ted” in accounting (the A-hole has won your fantasy league 4 years in a row now.) Take advantage of “Ted’s” frail self-image and publicly humiliate him! Name your team something like “TedsWinsAtFantasySexTooLOLOLOL!” This will break his soul from the very beginning and crumble his season starting with

DO SOME RESEARCH

You might love Matt Hasselback (if you do, you’re an idiot), but the rest of the planet knows his sister-in-law is a stark raving lunatic! It doesn’t matter who you are – your family has some issues, but imagine having to deal with a sister-in-law who’s constantly nagging on and on about how Whoopie is wrong because she

SMACK TALK

The only reason men play fantasy football is for smack talk. Talking mad amounts of trash towards people, who otherwise wouldn’t deserve it, is what makes it fun. So, sling poo! Threaten your friend’s lives! Make inappropriate remarks towards one’s mother! Mail a letter with his return address to his boss, titled “Your weekly reports are as worthless as your wife in bed… I’m just kidding…nobody would sleep with your wife!” All is fare in Fantasy Football! 46 46
