Everyone faces challenges in life, some more than others. Success is often a combination of hard work, divine blessings, and destiny. While not everyone believes in destiny, most of us turn to God in times of distress, to find solace and support. We are all unique, and we each respond to challenges in our own way. However, one thing we all share is the desire to be winners—no one wants to be a loser. Success and failure are two sides of the same coin, constantly accompanying us on our journey. Achieving success at every step doesn’t mean failure won’t strike, but how we handle failure when it comes is what distinguishes a winner from a loser.

Throughout my journey, I have met all kinds of individuals: some born into wealth and others who have risen through hard work and determination. The common thread is that no one attains success without struggle and effort, whether they are born with a silver spoon or not.

Even if you inherit a great legacy and wealth, without hard work and perseverance, everything can vanish over time History is full of such examples. Conversely, being born into adversity often toughens you, making struggle a natural part of life and helping you achieve your desires. The story I have written this time exemplifies all the

points mentioned above, demonstrating that success is invariably intertwined with struggle and hard work. The story of Mahesh Pai is truly inspiring, and this isn't the first time I've written about him However, the aspects of his life he shared with me this time were previously unknown to me. His journey is fascinating, filled with many ups and downs, challenges at every step, and ultimately, triumph Today, Mahesh enjoys a lifestyle that rivals the wealthiest and most famous in town, embodying his belief in living life king-size. For the first time, I have divided his story into two parts, and I am confident you will appreciate the way it is crafted. Unlike typical stories that follow a linear path from zero to a hundred, Mahesh's story is unique It starts from below zero, and rises to a hundred, only to fall back to zero. The most captivating aspect is how he manages to bounce back from zero to hero, setting him apart and making his story an inspiring piece for everyone.

The landmark procedure, termed TAVR in SAVR (inserting a new

SUNIL CHHETRI: INDIA'S FOOTBALL ICON BIDS FAREWELL TO INTERNATIONAL STAGE

Sunil Chhetri, revered as India's greatest footballer, has officially announced his retirement from international football, marking the end of an extraordinary career that has left an indelible mark on the sport.

Chhetri, who served as the captain of both the Indian national team and Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League,

has been nothing s h o r t o f legendary.

Born on August 3, 1 9 8 4 , i n Secunderabad,

I n d i a , t o K B Chhetri, an Indian Army officer, and Sushila Chhetri, a former player for the Nepal women's national team, Chhetri's football journey began in Darjeeling. Influenced by his parents' sporting backgrounds, he quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing his talent in various tournaments from a young age.

Chhetri's professional career was c a t a p u l t e d w h e n h e w a s discovered by Mohun Bagan, recognized as a standout talent during the 2002 Durand Cup. His career trajectory saw him grace numerous clubs, including East Bengal, JCT, Chirag United,

Churchill Brothers, and Mumbai City FC. His stint with Dempo Club in Goa in 2009 further solidified his impact across Indian football. Most recently, he played a pivotal role for Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League.

Despite facing challenges, such as the denial of a work permit by the British Government to play for Queens Park Rangers in 2009 due to India's FIFA ranking, Chhetri's resilience and commitment to his country and clubs never wavered.

On the international stage, Chhetri represented India in prestigious tournaments like the A F C A s i a n C u p , S A F F Championship, Nehru Cup, and FIFA World Cup qualifiers. His c o n t r i b u t i o n s e a r n e d h i m numerous accolades, including the Arjuna Award in 2011, the Khel Ratna in 2021 (the first footballer to receive this honor), and the Padma Shri in 2019, cementing his

status as a sporting icon in India. FIFA celebrated Chhetri's illustrious career by releasing a documentary series titled "Captain Fantastic" on FIFA+ in 2022, showcasing his remarkable contributions to Indian football. In his personal life, Chhetri married Sonam Bhattacharya, daughter of former international player Subrata Bhattacharya, in 2017, and they have a son named Dhruv. IMAGINE PANAJI SMART CITY LIMITED ANNOUNCES EARLY OPENING OF ST. INEZ ROADS

Imagine Panaji Smart City Limited (IPSCDL) is proud to announce the early completion and opening of key roads in St. Inez, significantly a h e a d o f t h e c o m m i t t e d deadline. This development will enhance connectivity and ease traffic flow in the city.

The newly constructed concrete roads, totaling 1.5 km, include: Road from Vivanta Junction to Sheetal Junction, extending to Madhuban Junction (St. Inez) Road from Sheetal Junction to Caculo Mall Junction

These roads will be open for

public use on 28th May 2024 at 9:00 PM.

The commissioning of these roads will enable IPSCDL to close the Caculo Mall Junction to traffic temporarily, to complete the complex work there. This work is expected to be completed by 31st May 2024, with the junction reopening by 7th June 2024 following the concrete curing period.

IPSCDL's commitment to efficient project execution has allowed these roads to be completed ahead of schedule, underscoring the organization's dedication to i m p r o v i n g P a n a j i ' s u r b a n infrastructure.

This initiative aims to unite state awardees, dairy farmers, and coconut growers to promote the cultivation of fodder crops, addressing the critical shortage of green fodder in Goa.

Green cattle fodder is scarce in Goa, with the landed cost from neighboring states reaching nearly Rs 9/kg. Mr. Rodrigues encouraged farmers to grow fodder in unused spaces on their farms, estimating the cost at just Rs 2.50/kg. He projected a net income of Rs 1,20,000 per acre in the first year, doubling in the second year, and increasing further in the third year.

I have penned many inspiring stories over the years, and each new tale seems even more inspiring than the last. The common thread in these narratives is the relentless struggle and unwavering determination of those who refuse to give up. As the saying goes, "Success is the result of continuous and persistent efforts, and the first stroke is as important as the last one to break the stone into pieces." Those who give up halfway will never achieve success.

In the past, I wrote about the journey of Mahesh Pai. However, in a recent conversation with him, I discovered even more about the countless strokes he made to break through his obstacles. Despite moments when he felt like giving up, Mahesh gathered his courage and persevered. Today, he is one of the most successful financial advisors and business coaches in Goa.

In this story, I will share many unknown and untold aspects of Mahesh's journey. His story will inspire you to continue your efforts towards success and never give up.

Today, Mahesh Pai enjoys the best life has to offer: a fleet of luxurious cars, a plush office space, and a roster of high-profile clients. However, these achievements did not come overnight. They are the result of nearly thirty years of relentless struggle and hard work. According to Mahesh, his journey to success has been filled with numerous ups and downs.

PART I THE RISE AND THE FALL

Mahesh is the youngest of six brothers, and his father worked for the central government. "One day, someone motivated my father to leave his government job and venture into business," Mahesh recounted "Without a second thought, he took the plunge." Unfortunately, it wasn’t the venture itself but his father’s mindset that led to failure

"Despite running his own business, he operated like a government employee, working from nine to six This approach caused the business to collapse within a short period, accumulating a huge amount of bank debt and ultimately leading to complete bankruptcy."

I n t o d a y ' s s o c i e t y , t h e repercussions of any familial s e t b a c k , e s p e c i a l l y o n e experienced by the head of the h o u s e h o l d , r e v e r b e r a t e throughout the entire family.

M a h e s h P a i ' s s t o r y i s n o exception The collapse of his family's business and the ensuing financial burdens shook the very foundation of their household. In the face of adversity, Mahesh's mother took on the Herculean task of shouldering the family's responsibilities.

"We found ourselves struggling to make ends meet, with no safety net to rely on," Mahesh recounted. "My mother, with unwavering determination, stepped up to the challenge. Working tirelessly as a m a i d , s h e s e r v e d s e v e r a l households from dawn till dusk, often sacrificing her rest to ensure that my siblings and I had food on our plates."

During this trying period, Mahesh himself took on odd jobs as a daily wage labourer to alleviate the burden on his mother. "I worked in fields, sold vegetables and fruits, and we even sought refuge in the homes where my mother worked as a maid just to have a place to study under the lamp," he shared. "Our clothes were hand-medowns, patched up by my mother

to make them wearable. It was a life of bare necessity, marked by poverty, but we refused to succumb to despair. Despite our circumstances, we remained steadfast in our pursuit of education."

With time, Mahesh's elder brother a

financial support to their mother. This assistance proved invaluable, enabling one of Mahesh's siblings to pursue higher education, while the others completed their schooling. Inspired by his family's resilience, Mahesh resolved to chart a different path for himself. "When I began earning, I made a conscious decision not to repeat the mistakes of my father," Mahesh reflected "This selfaffirmation became my guiding principle, propelling me forward t h r o u g h e v e r y t r i a l a n d tribulation."

In a departure from convention, Mahesh attributes all his success to his father "The lessons I learned from my father inspired me to chart a different course in m y c a r e e r j o u r n e y , " h e emphasized "Where we stand today is solely because of my father, and all credit belongs to him alone."

Upon completing his graduation, Mahesh's elder brother facilitated his entry into a job at a Chartered Accountant firm. "During office hours, I diligently fulfilled my responsibilities at the CA's office, often extending my workday until the early hours of the morning to generate additional income to support my family by writing a book of accounts," Mahesh recounted Despite his tireless efforts, the income he generated proved insufficient, prompting him to seek better opportunities. In 1998, Mahesh seized an opportunity to work in the accounts department at Sai Service, offering a decent salary p a c k a g e a n d p r o m i s i n g prospects. However, Mahesh's outgoing nature propelled him beyond the confines of his desk. "I couldn't remain tethered to my chair; instead, I actively engaged w i t h p e o p l e , f o s t e r i n g connections and networking," Mahesh explained. This dynamic approach led to a s h i f t f r o m t h e a c c o u n t s department to the vehicle body workshop, a move initially perceived as a demotion H o w e v e r , M a h e s h f o u n d fulfilment in his new role, interacting with numerous individuals daily to facilitate claim

settlements "Handling pressure and building relationships became second nature to me," Mahesh remarked "By going above and beyond to assist people, I earned their trust and loyalty."

Mahesh's proactive approach soon garnered attention, making him the go-to person at Sai Service for vehicle bookings, servicing, and purchasing decisions. "The 'Mahesh Pai' brand began to take shape," he reflected, underscoring the i m p o r t a n c e o f g e n u i n e connections and exceptional s e r v i c e i n h i s j o u r n e y t o prominence.

The journey that began on a bicycle had evolved, with Mahesh now traversing the streets on a motorbike, visiting customers and i n s u r a n c e c l a i m o f f i c e r s . However, one day, a pivotal moment emerged, one that would dramatically alter his trajectory and bring him crashing down from the heights he had reached.

"A casual friend of mine became a trusted confidant, often frequenting Sai Service," Mahesh recounted. "One day, he confided in me about his plans to purchase property but found himself short of funds. He appealed to me for a s s i s t a n c e , a n d w i t h o u t

hesitation, I agreed to help." Little did Mahesh know, that this act of goodwill would lead to his downfall.

"Things took a turn for the worse when the individual I borrowed money from to assist my friend began demanding repayment," Mahesh continued. "Meanwhile, my so-called friend began avoiding me until he vanished without a trace." Left shouldering a mounting debt, Mahesh resorted to borrowing from banks, institutions, friends, relatives, and even his in-laws to settle his obligations.

"I was oblivious to the fact that I was digging myself into a deeper hole of debt by accruing liabilities from various sources, " Mahesh reflected. "This ordeal taught me a valuable lesson: in times of prosperity, complacency can blind you to the consequences of your actions I basked in the adulation and recognition, believing my friend would eventually repay his debts. It was a mirage that held me captive until reality came crashing down."

As the flow of funds dried up, Mahesh found himself besieged by creditors, court notices, and inquiries. "The same individuals who once praised me now sought repayment," Mahesh lamented

"Bank managers and cooperative society officials descended upon my home for debt collection, while relatives and friends d e m a n d e d t h e i r d u e s . To compound matters, I became ensnared in a CBI inquiry, paying the price for the misdeeds of a friend I had innocently aided."

Despite eventually clearing his name in the CBI inquiry, Mahesh's ordeal was far from over The relentless pursuit of debt collectors followed him from his home to his workplace, mounting pressure that ultimately forced him to resign. Now unemployed, with no income or savings, Mahesh found himself in a dire situation. "There had been no rent paid for 6 months, no food in the house, and I was the sole breadwinner for my family, which now included my wife and daughter," he recounted. This turn of events led Mahesh to a sobering realization: despite his best intentions to avoid repeating his father's mistakes, he had unwittingly stumbled into an even greater blunder "At times, it seems as though destiny has a firm grip on our lives," Mahesh reflected. "When faced with such adversity, it's natural to point fingers at fate, at God, or the world around us, refusing to

accept responsibility for our actions However, amidst the chaos, one thing remains constant: faith."

“It's faith that sustains us through life's trials and tribulations," Mahesh emphasized. "No matter how dire the circumstances may seem, holding onto faith can guide us out of the darkest of times. Every incident, every setback, serves a purpose, shaping us for the better."

Mahesh's journey serves as a poignant reminder that amidst life's uncertainties, faith can serve as an anchor, leading us toward brighter horizons Though the road may be fraught with challenges, it is faith that illuminates the path forward, offering hope and resilience in the face of adversity.

Mahesh found himself back at square one, a stark contrast to the name, fame, and success he had once achieved. Reflecting on his journey, Mahesh solemnly remarked, "A single wrong decision in life is all it takes to bring you crashing down, to ruin your entire existence, and inflict suffering upon your loved ones. Unfortunately, that's precisely what happened to me."

Mahesh immersed himself in these narratives, finding solace and inspiration in the stories of resilience and redemption. "With ample time on my hands and no job or financial security, I delved into these books," he recalled. "They became my beacon of hope, fueling my desire to reinvent myself and reignite my pursuit of success."

While the books provided motivation, Mahesh knew he n e e d e d m o r e t h a n j u s t inspiration—he needed guidance. "I was determined to bounce back, but I lacked direction," he admitted "I poured over the chapters repeatedly, losing track of time and place. Eventually, a common thread emerged from these stories: the presence of a mentor. Someone who oversees y o u r p r o g r e s s a n d o f f e r s guidance every step of the way."

With newfound clarity, Mahesh realized that securing a mentor was paramount to his success. "After evaluating my situation, my mentor advised me to start a financial services business, which required minimal capital," Mahesh recounted. "His lessons o n m i n d m a n a g e m e n t strengthened my resolve to handle any situation With renewed vigor, I began working 15 to 16 hours a day. He guided me in navigating the high-profile client market. Under his mentorship, I learned mind management, stress management, marketing, and sales management Within five and a half years, I repaid all my loans and became debt-free."

Clearing his liabilities marked a significant turning point for Mahesh He celebrated by purchasing his first dream car, a Mercedes Benz. "Three years later, I bought my next car, a BMW, and now I have a Jaguar in my fleet," he shared. "Today, I cater to high-profile clients both within and outside Goa. My clientele includes local professionals, businessmen, IAS, and IPS officers, as well as NRIs. Among my NRI clients, the majority are marine engineers, captains, and individuals in prestigious positions worldwide."

Mahesh attributes much of his success to his dedicated team,

many of whom have been with him for over 20 years. "We are one of the top financial advisory firms in Goa, recognized at the national level," he noted. "My organization is systematically planned, with a personal secretary, dedicated marketing team, and accounts team. Remarkably, not a single staff member has left my organization to date."

Asha's Legacy of Women's Empowerment

A quarter of a century ago, women’s empowerment in our country was little more than a myth. However, today it is a burgeoning reality Asha's i n s p i r i n g j o u r n e y i s a testament to this progress. At just 19 years old, while pursuing her studies in Pune, Asha

business Alone and relying solely on her self-belief, she achieved remarkable success.

H e r d e d i c a t i o n a n d determination eventually led

h e r t o b e c o m e t h e chairperson of the Women’s Wing of the Goa Chamber of Commerce. This is the story of A s h a ' s e x t r a o r d i n a r y

transformation from a college student to a leading figure in the business community.

“ I v e n t u r e d i n t o t h i s enterprising journey with two friends from the campus while I was studying in Pune,” Asha said, adding that she comes from a very conservative family. Her father, a doctor, did not approve of her venturing into the business “He wanted me to become a doctor, but I had no interest in it. So, I decided to forge my own path to success against his wishes.”

Asha explained that her perspective on women ' s c a p a b i l i t i e s c h a n g e d dramatically when Ms. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, an Indian billionaire entrepreneur and a founder of Biocon Limited, visited their campus for a guest lecture. “Her visit made me realize the potential women have and inspired me to venture into my own business,” Asha said. “My father was very upset when I told him about my plans. He asked me to pack my bags and come back home. Although I decided to start a business, I was initially unsure about what to pursue.”

As a science student, Asha h a d a n e y e - o p e n i n g experience in the lab. “While conducting an experiment on the purity of drugs, I came across a consumable used in the process. It cost around

twenty thousand rupees and was imported. If it got spoiled, we had to reorder, which took a lot of time. This gave me the idea to repair it instead. When I succeeded, it sparked the idea of starting my own venture in this field. Two friends from campus joined me on this journey.”

“I discussed my new venture idea with my friends, and they decided to join me. We contacted the supplier of that consumable in Mumbai and went to visit him with the proposal of selling the product, called HPLC Column, in campuses across the country,” Asha shared. “He agreed, on the condition that he would keep Pune and Mumbai for himself while we could sell the product in the rest of Maharashtra We agreed, took training, and since I was already familiar with the product, it was a cakewalk for me. I decided to inform my dad about my plans. As usual, he was very upset, but I decided to go against his wishes and stayed back in Pune to pursue my venture.”

“We took an initial fund of fifty thousand rupees from the father of one of our friends, who also became a partner in the business,” Asha continued. “He also provided us with space to start the business. We formed the company—my two business partners had MBAs, and I was the technical expert.

Due to extensive traveling to meet prospective customers, I had to leave my studies in the middle. In just two years, we covered the entire state of Maharashtra.”

“However, success often comes with challenges. Our s u p p l i e r d e c i d e d t o discontinue the contract out of greed to take over the c u s t o m e r b a s e w e h a d developed,” Asha recounted. “We were back to square one. During this period, one of our clients advised us to visit a trade show for analytical i n s t r u m e n t s i n M u n i c h , suggesting we had a good chance of securing a direct dealership Since I was the only one with a passport, I w e n t t o M u n i c h a l o n e , attended the trade fair, and s e c u r e d e x c l u s i v e d i s t r i b u t o r s h i p f o r o u r company. Upon returning to India, we appointed a new team and started selling the product across the country. Three years later, we decided to set up a manufacturing unit i n I n d i a , w h i c h p r o v e d s u c c e s s f u l A S w e d i s h company took a share in our company and became our partner.”

After running the business venture for a decade, Asha had to move back to Goa following the loss of her father, as her mother was alone and needed her care “Back in Goa, I married my long-time sweetheart Amol and sold my shares in the company to a U S - b a s e d f i r m , ” A s h a explained. In Goa, she and her h u s b a n d s e t u p a pharmaceutical research unit in the Verna Industrial Estate. “We hired scientists and started executing outsourced research work for foreign c o m p a n i e s W e a l s o established an FDA-approved

lab testing facility. However, d u r i n g t h i s t i m e , w h i l e frequently traveling to Pune where I had a house, I came into contact with the wellness company VLCC and decided to take up their franchise in Goa, stepping back from my pharma venture.”

“We had a five-year contract with VLCC, and I developed a passion for the wellness sector, leading me to start my own brand, Tatva,” Asha continued “We opened the first Tatva Spa and Salon in Panaji, followed by another in Calangute. Soon, we began receiving inquiries from fivestar hotels to establish spas in their properties. This allowed us to expand quickly within Goa. However, while we were planning to expand across the c o u n t r y , t h e C OV I D - 1 9 pandemic struck, halting all our plans The wellness industry was one of the first to shut down and the last to reopen, resulting in significant losses. Our entire team of over a hundred staff members left and returned to their native places We suffered huge losses and had to close down our spas across Goa.”

There is a saying that when one door closes, another opens, and this proved true for Asha. After closing down Tatva Spas across the state, she found herself with little to do d u r i n g t h e C O V I D - 1 9 pandemic. “During this time, I was completely free and many of the ladies I had worked with previously began reaching out to me. Their husbands had also lost jobs due to the pandemic, and they were seeking sources of income I decided to provide them with a platform to sell the products they made at home through Global to Local,” Asha shared. “Many of these women are part of self-

help groups and supply their handmade products to our platform, which is doing very well.”

Once the pandemic was over, Asha decided to revive Tatva, starting her first spa unit in the Neptune Hotel, followed by five more hotel locations. “Now, we have Tatva Spas exclusively in hotels and have not revived our standalone units,” she said.

Currently, Asha serves as the Chairperson of the Women's Wing of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI), a journey that began when she joined as a member.

“ I l a t e r m o v e d t o t h e committee of the Women's Wing before taking over as Chairperson last year, ” she explained, adding that it is a fantastic platform. “Here, we w o r k t o h e l p w o m e n entrepreneurs achieve their goals. We organize numerous a c t i v i t i e s f o r w o m e n entrepreneurs through the chamber, including annual events such as Business Diva and Asturi, an exhibition where we provide 120 stalls for women entrepreneurs We h a v e a l s o l a u n c h e d mentorship programs for women entrepreneurs in Goa.”

Asha noted the progress made under her leadership. “Today, 33 percent of startups in Goa are registered by women entrepreneurs, which is a significant achievement My plan is to give my all for the b e t t e r m e n t o f w o m e n entrepreneurs in Goa during my tenure as Chairperson of the Women's Wing at GCCI.”

Asha's philosophy is to live in the present moment “I am someone who lives by the day, always in the moment, and that keeps me happy. I also practice spirituality. Now that I have the time and opportunity,

I want to make the most out of it. Who knows what might be waiting for me in two years? I believe that I cannot change the past, and the future is uncertain The only moment we have is the present,” she reflected.

B e f o r e c o n c l u d i n g t h e interview, Asha spoke about a venture close to her heart: the Orchid Awards, which she has been organizing for over a decade. “When I started these awards, there was no platform to recognize and honor the w o r k d o n e b y w o m e n entrepreneurs in Goa. It began as a small felicitation ceremony and has grown over time Now, women eagerly a w a i t t o s e n d t h e i r n o m i n a t i o n s a y e a r i n advance. We have nine categories and have honored more than a hundred women to date. The Orchid Awards include a cash component along with the trophy for each winner, and every woman looks forward to these awards. This initiative is something very dear to me,” she added.

Born and raised in the picturesque village of Chapora, Bani developed a passion for motorsports at a young age and pursued it relentlessly until she reached the top echelons of the sport. Here is the story of Bani's adventurous journey in the world of motorsports.

W h e n a s k e d a b o u t h e r background and passion, Bani shared that she has always been a racing enthusiast with a lifelong love for speed and competition. “Growing up in Chapora, I was exposed to the thrill of racing from a young age,” said Bani. She recalled watching professional racing events in her village, which fueled her ambition. After completing her primary education, she pursued higher s t u d i e s i n M a s s Communication at St. Xavier's College, Mapusa. Now, Bani is dedicated to chasing her racing dreams and making a name for herself in the world of motorsports.

Speaking about her childhood passion for motorcycle racing, Bani reminisced about how she would play with toy cars

and watch racing videos from a young age. "I was always fascinated by speed and competition," she said. "As a child, I spent hours playing with toy cars and watching racing videos My friends,

racing at the local track. That's where my journey in racing began."

Bani started competing in local racing events at the age of 18 and quickly fell in love with the thrill of the sport "Throughout my journey, I've been fortunate to have

supportive family, friends, and mentors who have guided me and helped me improve my skills," she added.

S p e a k i n g a b o u t t h e challenges she has faced, Bani acknowledged that she encountered obstacles but overcame them without much hassle. "During the race, I faced a few challenges, especially after a fall in the last lap. It was tough to regain my momentum, but I didn't let it discourage me I stayed focused, got back on the bike, a n d f i n i s h e d t h e r a c e , securing 4th place," she said. Speaking about some of the k e y e v e n t s s h e h a s participated in, Bani shared, “I have taken part in the MRF National Dirt Championships in Kolhapur, where I finished 5th, the MRF National Rally in Nashik, where I secured 4th place, and the MRF National Rally in Chikmagalur, where I came in 3rd ” She added, “ R a c i n g g i v e s m e a n adrenaline rush like nothing else. I've been into it since I was a kid, always fascinated by the idea of being on the track.”

Bani’s passion for racing has driven her to excel in the motorsports segment. "I have always had a need for speed! Racing gives me an adrenaline rush like nothing else. I've been into it since I was a kid and was always fascinated by being on the track," she said. She a d d e d , " M y f a t h e r , Bramanand Dabholkar, had a great influence on me as a child. It's wonderful to have a supportive and passionate parent who can inspire and guide you. EMMANUEL'S MUSICAL JOURNEY

From Childhood Dreams to Debut Success

Born and brought up in the capital city of Goa, Emmanuel completed his preliminary studies at Rosary High School and his secondary education at St. Xavier's College, Mapusa. He later pursued a career in music and is now an established singer, songwriter, and producer.

"I am a singer-songwriter and producer, born, raised, and b a s e d i n G o a , I n d i a , " Emmanuel said. He added that he studied at The Rosary School in Miramar, followed by Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Panjim. "I graduated from St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, with a Bachelor’s D e g r e e i n M a s s Communication."

Talking about his background and entry into the field of music, Emmanuel shared that music was always a part of his life, thanks to being brought up in a musically inclined family. "My parents told me that when I was 4 years old, I used to sing along to classical music cassettes or CDs that they would play, and I suppose that's when this whole journey began," he said. "Around the time when I was 6, I'd sit at the piano trying to sing and figure out the chords to my favorite songs. At the age of 7, my parents enrolled me in classical violin lessons at Kala Academy, and being in that space opened my mind to realizing I could potentially have a future in music," he

narrated.

According to Emmanuel, production and songwriting were not initially part of his plans. "In fact, funnily enough, my dream was to be a classical violinist," he said. Things changed when the lockdown took effect in 2020, and he happened to have a borrowed microphone and audio interface lying around the house. "Having little to no interest in academics, I'd spend my days, morning to night, watching YouTube v i d e o s o f m y f a v o r i t e musicians and producers, learning how to record music onto a DAW. Then I'd use what I'd learned to record covers and post videos on Instagram and YouTube. I did this for a

couple of years but outgrew that phase pretty quickly. In search of a missing piece in the puzzle, I gave songwriting a shot. With a lot of patience and effort, I started to like my work. To this day, nothing I do creatively feels better than being able to express myself through my own music, and that's a feeling I know will never go away."

"That being said, I released my first original song, 'Be the One,' on my 20th birthday, August 27th, 2021, and I haven't looked back since. I have six singles out as of today, with my latest release being a ballad called 'Give My All,' which came out last month, in April," he added. When asked about how he

Speaking about the key events and shows he has been a part of, Emmanuel highlighted his journey into the music scene at a young age. Speaking on his future plans, Emmanuel stated, “My future plan is to be better than I was yesterday, hopefully inspire people through my music, and m a k e a d i f f e r e n c e i n someone's life. I don't like to think too far ahead, but I'm currently working on my debut album, and very soon I'd love to tour the country and perform it live! It would be a dream come true.”

Push-pull supersets are fantastic when you want to do a lot in less time. Your muscles get small amounts of rest during sets for example, your pushing muscles will rest as you perform the pulling exercise.

U P P E R B O DY - L O W E R B O DY SUPERSETS

With upper-lower supersets, you perform an upper-body strength movement followed by a lower-body strength movement — or vice versa. Examples include: Lunges and overhead presses, Squats and pullups, Deadlifts and bench presses, Upper body-lower body supersets work well for full-body workouts, and they provide the most rest time since you're working entirely different muscle groups. Simply pair an upper-body exercise with a lower-body exercise to create an upper-lower superset.

COMPOUND SUPERSETS

During compound supersets, both exercises target the same muscle group. For example: Bench presses and pus ups (working the chest), Barbell curls and hammer curls (working the biceps), Shoulder presses and lateral raises (working the shoulders), If you're pressed for time but want to ramp up the intensity, compound movements are a smart choice Compound supersets work your prime movers and your ancillary

muscle groups — those that assist your primary muscles. You can double up on a muscle group in a shorter period. With same-muscle-group supersets, you need to rest more in between sets to avoid burning out. That way, you can commit to the same weight load each time It's best to rest 60-90 seconds in between compound supersets.

ISOLATION SUPERSETS

Want to really feel the burn and build lean muscle on a smaller muscle group (such as the biceps)? Isolation supersets are the best. Isolation sets target one smaller muscle back-toback. You could do combinations like: Lateral raises and front raises ( w o r k i n g t h e s h o u l d e r s ) , Triceppulldowns and skull crushers (working the triceps), Chest flys and cable crossovers (working the chest)

WORKOUT?

The number of supersets you include in your workout is up to you. However, you don't need to superset all your exercises.Also, it's best to repeat each superset 2-4 times in one workout. HOW MANY REPS FOR SUPERSETS? Besides saving time, supersets are great for building lean muscle and improving muscular endurance. The number of reps you do will depend on your fitness goals concerning these benefits: If your prime goal is to build muscle, doing 8-12 reps per exercise with moderate weight works well. If you're focused more on endurance, you can increase the reps to 15-30 per exercise with lighter weights.

You'll want to rest 30 to 60 seconds between each superset For more intense sets, such as compound sets where you're working the same muscle twice, you might need up to 90 seconds of rest.

CA U T I O N S O N P E R F O R M I N G SUPERSETS

The main precautions to take with supersets regard correct form and fatigue. Since super-setting increases the intensity of a workout, fatigue can set in sooner. Be sure to listen to your body. If completing a full set becomes too hard, you'll need to decrease the resistance and possibly increase your rest between sets. In addition, make sure you're using the proper form for all superset exercises If you ' re struggling to maintain the correct form, you might need to reduce the weight or use an easier version of the exercise until you get stronger.

WHO IS OBLIGATED TO FILE AN INCOME TAX RETURN

As the financial year of 202324 has ended there is a natural rush of some prudent citizens to file their Income Tax Returns. However, there is also a large section who needs to be coaxed to complete their compliances and further there are some who are totally oblivious of this requirement. Firstly there is a misconception that only those who have taxable income, or any tax to pay, need to file an Income Tax Return. The law has become so over-arching now, that even if you have no income, but you trigger some high value transactions, then you need to file your Income Tax Return. Who should file an Income Tax Return:

1 A n y i n d i v i d u a l (male/female/senior citizen) whose total income exceeds t h e m i n i m u m t a x a b l e threshold is required to file an Income Tax Return.

a. Under the old tax regime, individuals below 60 years of age have to file an ITR if their income exceeds Rs.2.5 lakhs and individuals above 60 years of age to 80 years of age have to file an Income Tax Returnif their income is more than Rs.3 lakhs Individuals above 80 years of age have to file their Income Tax Returnif their income exceeds Rs 5 lakhs.

b. Under the new tax regime, the basic exemption limit for individuals is Rs.3 lakhs, so if you are opting for new tax regime, then you need to file your Income Tax Returnif your income is exceeding Rs 3 lacs. (irrespective of age)

2. If you have deposited more t h a n R s 1 c r o r e i n a 'current'account in a bank, you have to mandatorily file an Income Tax Return.

3. If you have deposited more

than Rs. 50 lakh in a 'savings' bank account, you have to mandatorily file an Income Tax Return.

4. If you have spent more than Rs. 2 lakh on foreign travel, whether for yourself or any other person, you have to mandatorily file a tax return.

5. If you have more than Rs. 1 lakh in a year, towards Electricity expenditure then you have to mandatorily file an Income Tax Return

6 If the tax deducted at source (TDS)/ tax collected at source (TCS) exceeds Rs. 25,000 in the previous year, you need to mandatorily file an Income Tax Return. In the case of a senior citizen (above 60 years), this limit is Rs 50,000.

7. If you are a businessman and your total sales, turnover, or gross receipt is more than Rs. 60 lakh during the financial year, then you have to mandatorily file an Income Tax Return.

8. If you are engaged in a profession and your gross receipts are more than Rs. 10 lakh during the financial year, you have to file an Income Tax Return.

9 If you hold any foreign assets, such as bank accounts, properties, or other financial investments, or have earned any income from sources outside India, then you are required to file an Income Tax Return, irrespective of the income threshold.

10. Non Residents are required to file an Income Tax Returnif they have any income arising in India, irrespective of the amount However, if a Non Residentstotal income is below the basic exemption limit and consists only of certain specified incomes

(such as interest income or dividend income), they may not be required to file an Income Tax Return, subject to specific conditions

11. If an individual has incurred a loss in any financial year and wishes to carry forward or set off the loss against future income or claim a refund of excess taxes paid, filing an I n c o m e Ta x R e t u r n i s necessary.
