“The FCDS Upper School was a special place for giving us the resources to fly when we were pushed out of the nest. FCDS made me the man I am today.”

“I think the FCDS environment created a mindset of creativity. The thing I remember is the motto: pride, freedom, and responsibility. It’s the balance of freedom and responsibility. We were given a lot of freedom but we had to do something with it.”
“FCDS definitely prepared me for the world. I learned how to communicate, I had some balance, and it introduced me to a world I probably would not have known.”
“I think the best part of FCDS was that it taught me efficient and productive study habits that I still use to this day to keep up with the high levels of knowledge I need for my job.”
“There is no doubt that the passion with which I was educationally ‘raised’ at Forsyth brought forth curiosity, a thirst for asking interesting questions, and a motivation to learn.”

The Niblock Center for Intentional Living
Start at the Center. Go anywhere.
The Niblock Center for Intentional Living will be a showpiece and a hub for dynamic thought and action, providing valuable resources and programs that will truly inspire and prepare students for what’s ahead. What’s ahead for our graduates is not only academic readiness for college, as it has been for 50 years, but a lifetime of contributing to society. Our graduates will know themselves in order to lead themselves and others. They will make profound contributions to the greater good and the global economy by creating jobs and opportunities for themselves and others.
What’s ahead for an FCDS graduate is a life of meaning, lived with purpose, intention, and integrity, modeling our core values and carrying those values with them into the world they will help create. When you start at the Center, you can go anywhere.
For the past half century, the Founders’ Building has been at the heart of Forsyth Country Day Thousands of students have entered its doors seeking knowledge and left as accomplished young men and women prepared for fulfilling and meaningful lives and careers
As we look ahead to the next 50 years at FCDS, we want this “heart of the school” like the school itself to evoke a sense of belonging in everyone who enters it Studies show that the feeling of belonging helps young learners succeed in school and in life, because when students feel like they belong and that they are appreciated, they know they are expected to do well. That expectation and belief in their abilities motivates them to grow their skills and manifest that belief through high achievement
Forbes reports that some of the most essential skills for the future are learnability, agility, collaboration, communication, negotiation, and leadership. These "power skills" also include adaptability, problem-solving, creativity, drive, and empathy. Potential employers and colleges both report difficulty in finding these crucial abilities in both college graduates and incoming college students.
FCDS believes these in-demand essential life skills need to be developed and cultivated in all students if we are truly going to prepare students for what’s ahead.
The reimagined center of campus, housed in a bright, modern new facility, will inspire:
Skill development for the constantly emerging global economy, with an emphasis on the so-called soft or power skills colleges and employers desire Innovative instruction from skilled teachers and industry experts.
Leadership opportunities and training in how to lead one ’ s self and others.
Entrepreneurship in mindset and practical application.
The Niblock Center for Intentional Living
Self-Awareness. Collaboration. Sense of Purpose.
When you start at the Niblock Center for Intentional Living, you can go anywhere. The Center will foster leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship as well as enhance skills of emerging importance to a life of impact and intentionality: self-awareness, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and creating a strong sense of purpose. Programs will include:
Entrepreneurship
Guided by seasoned teachers and an advisory board of successful local and national entrepreneurs and business leaders who serve as mentors and guest speakers, students will study how entrepreneurs think and how our country’s systems support entrepreneurial success. Through the creation of their own real-world companies, they will learn problemsolving, risk-taking, communication, and teamwork as they fail, learn, and fail again on the road to success
Learning to Lead
To lead others, you must first lead yourself Students will develop self-awareness as they learn about themselves and their individual leadership styles and how to leverage that style best for success in school and in life. Guest speakers from the advisory board will provide insight into practical leadership, and students will be required to create and pursue handson leadership opportunities on campus and off
Personal Awareness and Wellness
Who are you when no one is looking? What are your strengths and what drives you? How do you take care of yourself so that you can function at an optimal level? Students will learn, through measurements and self-reflection, to identify what makes them tick and how to enhance what they are good at and shore up areas where they need to improve They’ll learn about how to develop and stack healthy personal habits in order to nurture themselves, manage stress, and be their best selves.

“I give for our girls. For the community at Forsyth Country Day. For the teachers who shaped me and who shape my children. I give because my parents always gave and I want to honor their legacy and create one myself. I give because I see those gifts in actions every time I come to this campus. I give because I want to give teachers the best opportunity to educate our children.”

“We have loved this school since 1979 when our children first enrolled. We continue to feel a part of it now that our grandchildren attend. The best gift we could give our kids was a quality education they would always benefit. It’s the same for our grandkids We feel good about supporting the school financially so that it can continue to provide the same quality education to others. We couldn’t think of a better place to give to support the future of our children and grandchildren.”
