Getting to Know: Wes Durham What has been the biggest difference between doing radio play-by-play and TV play-by-play for college sports? You don’t talk as much for one, because the pictures can tell so much of the story. But all the preparation and production for years of radio has been incredibly beneficial to starting a TV career in play-by-play. What has been your favorite experience on the road with your ACC Football broadcast team Brian Stann and Jenn Hildreth? I’ve been blessed to work with two people who share the same ideas on Profile having a good show each Saturday. That’s been my favorite part to be honest. Full Name: Dallas Wesley Durham … named after my grandfathers, Dallas Durham & C.W. Hege The 14-week schedule has flown by. Also, I enjoy taking pictures of Brian with Atlanta … but originally Cary, NC all the UFC fans that we have met in the airports. I have become the designated Hometown: Favorite Team: College or Pro? That’s a loaded photographer, since I’m flawless with the camera phones. Jenn just laughs when question for me. Alma Mater: Elon (1988) it happens, because it’s almost routine, which is pretty neat. As we move in to the college basketball season, which arena in the ACC is your favorite to visit? Because I grew up around North Carolina’s program with my dad, Smith Center is always on this list. Games there are just different for me than other venues. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame as they join the conference. What are your thoughts on ACC hoops this year? I think the new schools - Pitt, Notre Dame & Syracuse - will have some impact as we get into January’s conference schedule, but Duke is not just one of the best teams in this league, they are showing signs of being one of the best teams in the country…at least early on. It’s going to be interesting to see who challenges them this year, and also how strong the middle of the conference is when the NCAA field is announced.
