The Sights and Sounds of Fall on FOX Sports South
Jeff Genthner Senior Vice President, General Manager
As we enter October, those sounds you’re hearing are the cheers from Atlanta Braves fans for the return of postseason baseball. It’s probably also from the roar of the crowd for start of the NHL season with the Carolina Hurricanes on FOX Sports Carolinas and Nashville Predators on FOX Sports Tennessee. It may be also the chants from inside Gwinnett Arena, where the Atlanta Dream are making a run at the WNBA title. Or it may be the sounds of ACC and SEC college football action on the gridiron each weekend on FOX Sports South and SportSouth.
The Braves have won the National League East title for the first time since 2005 and will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in their divisional series, and we are excited to be part of their CHOPTOBER run with our special Braves LIVE Playoffs Edition postgame show, airing after every game of the playoffs.
NL Pitcher of the Month for September and NLDS Game 1 Starter Kris Medlen
We wish continued luck to the Atlanta Dream, who are hot at the right time of the season. They are making their third appearance in the WNBA finals in four years. We want to congratulate Angel McCoughtry, who earned All-WNBA Second Team honors for her tremendous play this season, and rookie Alex Bentley, who earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team. We are also very excited to drop the puck on the 2013-14 NHL season. The Predators open the season on Thursday, October 3rd on FOX Sports Tennessee at the St. Louis Blues, while the Hurricanes get their season started at home against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, October 4th on FOX Sports Carolinas.
