AMERICAN SWIM ACADEMY
Infants to young adults can learn to swim, improve their techniques and learn poolside safety from the American Swim Academy at the Fremont location (Technology Place, off Auto Mall Pkwy) or the Newark location (Cedar Blvd., off Thornton Ave.). All camps are taught by American Swim Academy staff in indoor pools heated to 92 degrees, creating a warm, inviting environment. Camps class ratios are small and are intended for the beginner to intermediate swimmer. You must wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. Open registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 31st. No refunds will be given for cancellation after Thursday September 2nd. Contact an American Swim Academy Representative directly after this date to receive credit toward future camps at American Swim Academy. A $25 cancellation fee applies per student. ** Y ou will be contacted by an American Swim Academy Representative prior to September 9th. to confirm your class day and time. Register Now Aqua Babies Maximum 4 per camp class. This is a parent participation class and all students must be accompanied by an adult in the water. This class combines water adaptation and safety. Once comfortable in the water the child will learn safety skills, including holding his/her breath, floating, kicking and climbing out of the water. All swimmers are required to wear a swim diaper. The camps run for 30 minutes each.

BASKETBALL Basketball Elite Clinic Pickleball 101 Clinic The City of Fremont is proud to introduce our new Pickleball 101 program! This clinic is meant to introduce players to one of the fastest growing sports in the country! Over the course of this four week program players will learn the fundamentals of volleying, serves, rallying, and shot placement. Each hour and a half lesson will consist of 45 minutes of skill development (instruction, drills, etc.), and 45 minutes of play where students will get to test their newfound skills on the court. Youth Basketball League
This class is a continuation of Jump Start Basketball. Development of the basic skills learned in Jump Start Basketball will be taught and advanced with NEW techniques and skills, along with playing some of the same fun games. Fine motor skills, socializing skills, and listening skills still come into play with this class. It is encouraged for children who have taken Jump Start Basketball. This program may be modified to adhere to City, County and State guidelines regarding locations, social distancing and safety protocols.
The Youth Basketball League is back and better than ever! Games will take place from December through the end of February 2022 on Saturdays at the Irvington Community Center. Each team will be assigned one 1-hour practice every week that may rotate between Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday with times varying between 4 PM and 9 PM. Except for family members, no requests to be placed on the same team will be accepted. No practice schedule requests will be accepted. Withdrawals after November 1st will be charged a $35 service and equipment fee. Program is subject to change depending on state and county health and safety guidelines and orders.

The first two weeks of “gamedays” will be hourlong introductory practices, and the remaining seven weeks will be games. All games will be held on Saturday’s at the Irvington Community Center. All requests for children to be placed on the same team must be in writing at the time of registration. Leagues are intended to be fun and informational. We reserve the right to combine leagues for the overall benefit of the program. Players will be placed on teams by staff. There are no practices during the week for this age group, as there will be instructional shortened practices for 15 minutes prior to each game. CITY OF FREMONT RELEASE AGREEMENT FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS IN CONSIDERATION OF PERMISSION TO PARTICIPATE IN OR USE ANY CITY OF FREMONT (hereinafter referred to as “City”) FACILITIES IN CONNECTION WITH THIS ACTIVITY, THE PARTICIPANT AGREES TO THE FOLLOWING: 1. T HE PARTICIPANT HEREBY RELEASES, WAIVES, DISCHARGES AND COVENANTS NOT TO SUE THE CITY OF FREMONT, ITS EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS AND AGENTS (hereinafter referred to as “releasees”) from all liability to the participant, his or her personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, for any loss, damage, or claim therefore on account of injury to the person, participant’s family member, or property of the participant, whether caused by any negligent act or omission of the releasees or otherwise, while the participant or participant’s family member is participating in a City activity or using any City facilities in connection with the activity. Participants of virtual recreation classes acknowledge they are responsible for ensuring their environment is safe/free from obstruction(s) and that any use of third-party applications (e.g., Zoom, Instagram, etc.) are at their own security risk. 2. T HE PARTICIPANT HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS the releasees from all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, charges, expenses, and attorney fees (including attorney fees to establish the releasees’ right to indemnify incurred on appeal) resulting from involvement in this activity, whether caused by any negligent act or omission of the releasees or otherwise. 3. THE PARTICIPANT HEREBY ASSUMES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR RISK OF BODILY INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE to self or participant’s family member while upon City property or participating in the activity or using any City facilities and equipment, whether caused by any negligent act or omission of releasees or otherwise. The participant expressly agrees that the foregoing release and waiver, indemnity agreement and assumption of risk, are intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by California law and that if any portion thereof is deemed to be held invalid, notwithstanding, the balance shall continue in full legal force and effect. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ THE FOREGOING and I am aware of the legal consequences of this agreement, including the acknowledgement that it prevents me from suing the City or its employees, agents, or officers, if I or my family member is injured or my property is damaged for any reason as a result of participation in this activity. I further acknowledge that no oral representations, statements or inducements have been made. IF THE PARTICIPANTS ARE MINORS his or her custodial parent or legal guardian must read and execute this agreement. I hereby warrant that I am the custodial parent or legal guardian of the participants listed on the registration form.

REFUND POLICY Refunds are allowed if requested up to seven calendar days prior to the start of the activity. A $10 per class withdrawal fee will be deducted from your refund. Please allow up to four weeks for receipt of refund by check. TRANSFER POLICY Transfers are allowed up to seven calendar days prior to the start of the class. There is no charge for this service. CANCELLATIONS We reserve the right to cancel a class for any reasonable cause. Should this happen, your fee will be refunded in full or you may transfer to any open class. NON-RESIDENT FEES For persons not residing in Fremont, the fee is $5 in addition to the published fee per class. SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT Seniors (Ages 60+) receive a 10% discount on all classes except those designated for seniors. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The City of Fremont and many local business and organizations have funded a grant program, which provides financial assistance for Fremont Residents. All requests are kept confidential. For more information about scholarships, please visit Fremont.gov/ Scholarships. Donations are tax deductible.
