I have
heard countless times how first steps in life are the hardest. Changes are hard, but somehow they always bring something good. I have felt it on my own skin while saying goodbye to my parents at the airport with the eternal positiveness and the great desire to follow my dreams and path that might include a great, but well worth sacrifice. I felt the same for FASHIONTO-GO, a blog which was born as a passionate project of a young Journalism student that has accomplished a lot by gathring a community of incredible, like-minded people around the globe enthusiastic about the
world of fashion, design and beauty over the past 4 years. However, with a new beginning in my personal life, I felt the same should happen to FASHIONTO-GO, so I’m more than happy to see you reading a very first issue of FTG magazine which is a result of hard work over the last few months. The actual magazine is a reflection of a blog, bringing together astonishing ideas, fun trends, and eye-opening insights every season.
Let's be friends!
As you can see, the FTG website has undergone a makeover that suits the form of a digital magazine with a blog category to keep you up with the latest fashion and style news every week. I would be delighted to see you join us on our Facebook and Instagram pages, both starting fresh. Also, I would like to use this opportunity to invite all young creative individuals who would like to share their work and be featured in the magazine, to get in touch! New starts may be the hardest, but taking a first step proves we can all do it.

COLOR OF THE YEAR
Electric lilac Electric lilac, or as the Pantone Color Institute called it Ultra Violet, is the 2018 colour everyone’s talking about
ich, but airy, at the same time mystical and whimsical, the color of the year came quite unexpectedly, yet excitedly. The Pantone Color Institute predicts this will be a global yearround shade integrated into the world of fashion, design and art, and believes that “designers and brands should feel empowered to use colour to inspire and influence”. They revealed that colour “symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity”, which makes the electric lilac a daring and fun choice. The striking, blue-based purple debuted on the SS18 runway and the most important guideline was go big or go home. With a “more
is more” idea in mind, which somehow didn’t seem overwhelming rather quite dreamy, perhaps as violet gives the strong impression of a spring color, fashion directors created unforgettable designs. ISSUE 1 | FASHIONTOGO-FTG.COM
Seeing Valentino’s lilac tonal looks with matching eye make, Gucci’s statment pieces in rich violet colour, Carolina Herrera’s maxi dresses and Marni’s bold color-blocking looks, it was clear as day this is the shade you wear proudly. If you are looking for the closet refresh, you are looking in the right place.

Luxe or sporty, hosiery is a dashing must-have
seems that the days of wearing invisible, nude tights are far behind us! As socks paired with open-toe shoes and sandals have become a highly desirable mix this autumn, the upcoming spring won’t disappoint either. From the glittery, party-inspired hosiery to the sheer embellished ones, socks seem to be a real show stopper. Simple fishnet tights are now replaced with logo-inspired socks, while star print has the role of a trend’s romantic interpretation. Fashion influencers are styling them with fancy open-toe heels, extra sporty trainers as well as slippers and sandals; it’s really all about the creativity. If you want to try a fast and very chic way to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank or trying too hard, this might be the right one. A more subtle way to tap into the trend is by wearing a pair of flats and simple silhouettes.

many cosmetic brands are ethical in their approach? Considering the advanced technology and modern research methods, you would assume that most of them have left traditional practices far behind in the past. According to the Cruelty Free International and the Dr Hadwen Trust more than 115 million animals are used in experiments worldwide each year. Their research shows that testing in countries such as USA, Japan, Australia, France, Canada and United Kingdom has not decline, moreover, in China it has increased. The reason behind is that China is one of the few countries that legally obliges beauty brands to test their cosmetics on animals in order to sell in the mainland stores. While the world’s most famous cosmetic companies deny animal testing on their behalf, they actually contract third parties to do the testing. The sun behind the clouds On the other hand, there are ethical and animal-friendly cosmetic brands that have put social responsibility in the first place, whether they are certified by the Leaping Bunny or PETA. Most are also vegan and organic labels such as Lush, Kat Von D, Ecotools, Kora Organics, Real Techniques, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Spectrum. When it comes to popular luxury cosmetics brands, only a few can hold that title, with Charlotte Tilbury and Marc Jacobs Beauty leading the trend.

Luckily, more and more companies are joining the Leaping Bunny Program each month. The program is the golden standard in certification of cruelty-free cosmetics and household products. The Leaping Bunny Program is the only globally recognized agreement between a brand and organization that proves their policy is completely cruelty-free. The certified brands are using reliable alternatives, including in vitro testing, computer modeling as well as human tissues and cell cultures.

Insta beauty? The social media cosmetic trend
2017
seems to be the year of social media beauty as Instagram has launched hundreds of cosmetic and lifestyle trends. Do you remember strobing, clown contouring and chrome nails? Natural, no-makeup selfies were huge hit with celebs like Alicia Keys, Mila Kunis and Adele, embracing the new movement, while influencers couldn’t get enough of strong nude lips inspired by Kylie Jenner. Instagram and Pinterest have become social platforms that gave women, with a lot of dedication and talent, a space to create powerful accounts and possible career of a

social media influencers. On the other side, our newsfeed was overwhelmed by the make-up artists and hairdressers who used the power of Instagram to effectively promote their services, products, brands and showcase their expertise and talent. Instagram now allows you to create a clickable, shareable feed, rather shoppable photos with links to retailers websites and online shops. Furthermore, another highly popular trend on social media are short tutorials which give knowledge of different techniques and skills to learn and improve your beauty abilities. You can easily become selftaught make-up artists with thousands of followers and admirers, teaching and empowering others make-up skills. Whether you like it or not, you can’t argue that Instagram and Pinterest are the perfect ground for endless inspiration, but most importantly engaging and amusing social media platforms.

You said you are LIVING IN
may sound like a really really bad cliche, but sometimes I do feel like I have to pinch myself. I have always been a dreamer. Some days those dreams were small and funny, some days they seemed too big to be followed. I was 16 when I first visited the famous British capital; it was a long waited trip as I was very much obsessed with the city. The moment I stepped on that ground I felt it was right, I knew there’s something special about London. Fast-forward nine years, a wedding and a graduation, that day has finally come. It was a bittersweet moment knowing you are leaving everything behind, but at the same time impatiently awaiting your first flat keys, your first dream job or just a first stroll through the park, as a Londoner. London is a city of dreams and opportunities, a multicultural melting pot where you never feel like a stranger; London is crowded and expensive, and the food is not that good; honestly, no one can really prepare you to living here, but somehow you can’t help yourself but love it. Love the energy, love the athmospere. ISSUE 1 | FASHIONTOGO-FTG.COM

London?
ISSUE 1 | FASHIONTOGO-FTG.COM
Why is London amazing? 1. There are plenty of sunny days! 2. People are always polite 3. Multiculturality and diversity 4. Perfectly landscaped parks 5. Endless shopping opportunties 6. Dog friendly public transport 7. Endless entertaiment + free museums 8. Spectacular views and landmarks 9. It’s instagrammable 10. Christmas - what else is there to explain?

As one of the 8 million Londoners, you quickly learn the rules of life. Literally. The commute. What would London be without millions of people trying to get to work in the rush hour; somehow Londoners know how not to feel awkward being squeezed with others in rather a good size Underground carriage. Just keep your cool. And then there the escalators. Always, but always keep on the righthand side on the escalators. It only took me once to learn (that first time 9 years ago!), and you don’t want to repeat these mistakes, trust me. The weather. I came to London with the worst assumption about the weather. Always raining? I can’t remember if I used umbrella twice. Always gloomy? It is, but there are more sunny days then you would ever expect. Find a right flat is a nightmare. They said; I guess I was really lucky. But the paperwork can be a nightmare. Fortunately, people are really nice, my kind of nice. I do enjoy London, and as long as feels like home, my love won’t fade.
