ON THE COVER Logan Crawford rips through the deep sand of The Far Reach Ranch in Tavares, Florida. Look for Logan to move up into the Junior A ranks this coming season.
EDITOR’S NOTE It is time! After I write this I will be headed on to Rocky Mountain ATV/MC to buy all the essentials for the coming season. You name it I will be buying it. I’m talking new goggles, lenses, grips, brake pads, plastics, gear and anything else I might need. I am looking forward to this season for many reason but the main reason is because the A Open class is going to be STACKED. Guys like Alex Mitz, Josh Tolken, Clark Myers, Nick Doerr, Scott Moore, Adam Cohen, Corey Pierce, George Moulton, Matt Arick and so many more will be showing up to duke it out each race. That
is what makes it so fun. It seems over the last few years A Open has grown to be the biggest A class on Sunday. The other reason I am so pumped is because I finally got my “motovan” all dialed in with a rooftop A/C unit so I will be camping in style this year. Guaranteed to add some speed! See you all at LBJ! If you have any questions about the magazine or want to provide some content please feel free to reach out! ftreditor@floridatrailriders. org

It takes a couple weeks to process from the AMA, don’t stand in line filling out paperwork at the first race, act now! For those that have not heard, FTR has moved to the MotoTally sign up and scoring process as we start our new season. What this means is once you stop by the club sign up, purchase a new transponder, you take your helmet to the FTR sign up to get scanned and that’s it you are signed up. More details are coming but that is basically it, fast and simple. In the meantime, get those bikes out and start riding. The season is almost here. Thanks for listening, Randy

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER Don’t seek earthly replacements like possessions, power or prestige. I swear I’ll never treat god-names like brand-names. Because His name is Holy, pure, the highest to be praised, held in awe, glorified and worshipped. Starting Line to Checkered Flag… “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 With the new racing season fast approaching, here are some thoughts on how God watches over us and so wants to be our friend, our Lord and Savior! Psalm 16 1-2 Keep me safe, O God, You are my protection, my comfort and my security. I’ve run for dear life to you. I seek you for my salvation. I say to God, “Be my Lord!” Have full reign over me. Without you, nothing makes sense. Without You, all is chaos and confusion. 3 And these God-chosen lives all around— My brothers and sisters who chose to follow You what splendid friends they make! Our hearts are alike; supportive and loving each other. 4 Don’t just go shopping for a god. God is not for sale.
5-6 My choice is you, God, first and only. I choose you first and forever. And now I find I’m your choice! You love me so much You gave your Son to pay my sin ransom! You set me up with a house and yard. You supply my every need, no matter what the circumstance
and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed. You keep me safe, healthy, on track. You canceled my ticket to hell— Because of Jesus paying my price, that’s not my destination! Hell and Satan can never, ever have me! 11 Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, You will be with me all my days all radiant from the shining of your face. Your presence, Your Spirit within me. Ever since you took my hand, From the day, I turned my life over to You,
And then you made me your heir! Because of Your love, I am a joint heir with Jesus!
I’m on the right way. I know you will guide me on the straight and rightous course!
7-8 The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake Your wisdom and direction keeps me focused and at peace. is confirmed by my sleeping heart. I can sleep through the night knowing you are in full control of my life.
“The Good Race” joy service is every Saturday night from 7:30 to 7:45 pm. We meet at the CMA tent. Bring a chair and come join us! Blessings on and off the road, Jim and Betty Edleston CMA
Day and night I’ll stick with God; I will continue to trust You. I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go. I will not run from You my desire is to be close to you always. 9-10 I’m happy from the inside out, My joy comes from my heart

The summer break allows for many “motocations” to be planned with your riding group. Colorado seems to be a popular destination among FTR members. This particular group consisting of Stefan Still, John Hardiman, Josh Tolken, Leo Jacobs, Todd Pope, Chad and Gage Hunter, and Shelby Dunson headed out towards Crested Butte, Colorado to ride the beatiful Taylor Park area trails.

THE HITS KEEP COMING by Randy Faul
As you might have read in one of my past articles where a number of us were freight training at the Croom Park and a twig jumped out in front of me, well the mishaps don’t just happen there. Fast forward to an undisclosed location (questionable property) that I ride from the house frequently and things were just off a tic there also.
wadded up, yard sale or whatever you want to call it, I got spit off. Sounded like a murder was happening, as the squeal could have been heard for a half mile or so. I’m lying on the ground trying to remember what happened and I thought as long as I heard the squealing and not grunting, I probably wasn’t going to be attacked.
I know some of you know that word Tic and it just seems to find me when I least expect it. The margin of error was within spec but I didn’t get the memo. Once again, the “when in doubt gas it”, “pin it to win it” and just “send it” did not apply in this case. My loop consists of a little bit of orange grove, pepper bushes and some dark thick single track that gets the heart rate up. Being that I know this loop like the back of my hand, I figured a moderate pace on the first lap would get everything warmed up.
As I picked myself up, Hogzilla was doing circles next to my bike as I staggered away from the circus and got behind a tree, just in case. Things could have been worse as some of these wild things don’t back down and actually stand their ground or even charge at you. Twisted forks ended my afternoon but no animal was seriously hurt, just bruised. As far as the rider, yes I should not be riding alone and two; the forks and the front end are fine.
Everything went fine the first time around so I picked it up some and started working the suspenders pretty aggressively and all was golden until a foreign object appeared out of one of the fast sweepers dropping into the single track. I guess the first lap disturbed this intruder to the point that it blocked the trail. Can you say wide glide and I am not talking Harley Davidson here. The pork chops on this thing would have been massive on the grill with some everglades seasoning. This wasn’t any pig, this thing qualified as Hogzilla! I hit the hind quarters of this monster as he crossed the trail and that’s all she wrote. Down and out,
I guess back to Croom where I can hit things and watch my buddies ride off into the sunset where they don’t even look back and then tell me to step up my game, I guess it’s better than hitting hogs Stay tuned for Chapter 3 Randy

RACE DAY TIPS with Adam Cohen
Training can be a lot like drinking: to have a great time you need to know when to stop. In the week leading up to a race or event, athletes can do more to undermine their training than they can to enhance it. Yet, just like that “one more” drink, it’s the prospect of getting a little extra something that gets you in trouble. - Chris Carmichael (Carmichael Training Systems) There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to preparing for an event. Many people will try to cram in last minute workouts, hydration, and rest into the final few days before an event. In reality any high intensity workouts during race week will not benefit you at all on race day but may actually raise your fatigue levels. All of your fitness work such as running, cycling and swimming workouts need to be done in the weeks leading up to your race, race week should be spent doing lighter workouts such as easy spins on a bicycle or some light running. Some people like to do “openers” the day before the event which typically would consist of some moderate intervals to get
