SANKAKU ICHIBA In Watanabe-dori 2-chome, just east of Yakuin Station, lies a jumble of old buildings and retro shops called Sankaku Ichiba (“triangle market”). The name stuck after a group of shops on a triangular plot a few blocks away moved to the area in 1950. (The old wooden arcade dates back to this time, too.) Now, about 20 eateries and shops call Sankaku Ichiba home, offering everything from udon to stiff drinks. There is also a new teppanyaki pub that opened last spring. A hidden gem of Fukuoka nightlife, Sankaku Ichiba attracts a diverse array of foodies and tipplers.

在柳橋連合市場和西鐵藥院站的中間，商辦和住宅樓房林立的渡邊 通二丁目上， 有一個充滿懷舊風情的好所在。原本是渡邊通一丁目上， 建在三角地形的市場商店街，在 1950 年時搬遷至此。保留著珍貴的 木造拱廊式建築，接連 20 幾間的小吃店和雜貨店在裡頭營業 ；有古 早風味的烏龍麵老店，也有去年春天剛開幕的鐵板燒、酒館等 ；每 晚都吸引追求懷舊感或熱鬧的男女老少來此流連，是福岡人的私房 景點之一。

야나기바시 연합시장과 니시테츠 야쿠인역의 중간 지점에 위치하는 와타나베도오리 2가에는 노스탤직한 분위기를 자아내는 장소가 있다. 본래 와타나베도오리 1가의 삼각형을 한 토지에 있던 상점가가 그 이름 그대로 1950년에 이곳으로 이전해온 것으로, 요즘은 보기 드문 목조 아케이드 내에 쭉 같은 메뉴를 제공해 온 전통 있는 우동 가게와 바, 작년 봄에 오픈한 철판구이 술집 등 20곳 정도의 가게가 자리 잡고 있다. 옛 분위기와 떠들썩함을 느끼고자 젊은 남녀가 연일 밤 찾는 후쿠오카의 숨은 명소이다. 三角市場（さんかくいちば） Sankaku Ichiba 2-3-1 Watanabe-dori, Chuo-ku Opening hours vary

Fresh fruit juice and other delights await you in the heart of Daimyo at this super-friendly fruit stand. Get a juice to-go, or drink it down on the spot (there’s an eat-in area). Stop by now to enjoy in-season Fukuoka strawberries, as well as several other delicious fruits and veggies. Nearby shop workers swing by for lunch soups, while foreign tourists enjoy a little down time with local fruits, roasted sweet potatoes and hot wine. From early spring to summer, when more fruits are available, the shop sells fresh fruit smoothies. Until then, how about some hot clam chowder or a carrot croquette?

SAMURAI UDON Samurai Udon is located at the Minoshima-kita intersection, a 15-minute walk south from Hakata Station. Shop-owner Hiroyuki Soma’s dedication to udon is like that of a samurai to the sword, hence the shop's moniker. The massive burdock and chikuwa tempura that jut beyond the bowl’s edge even evoke the image of a samurai sword! But it’s the soup and noodles that keep customers coming back to Samurai. The light golden broth is made by hand from kombu and dried, non-oily fishes with no additives or preservatives, making it all-natural as well as delicious. The noodles are hand-made daily using an original blend of Kyushu flours; they maintain a naturally wheaty aroma and are full of bounce, just like udon should be. The final touch, the tempura, are fried upon order, and seasonal veggies round out the dish. We suggest the namesake Samurai Udon, but on weekends only, you can order the Samurai Special—a bowl of udon loaded with spicy curry.

하카타역에서 남쪽으로 15분 정도 선로를 따라 걸어가면 나타나는 교차로에 위치한 우동 전문점. 사무라이처럼 우동 만들기에 전념하는 오너 소마 히로유키씨의 진심을 맛보고 싶다면 가게 이름을 딴 메뉴 사무라이 우동을 추천한다. 화학조미료와 보존료 등을 전혀 사용하지 않은 옅은 황금색의 투명한 국물은 한번 맛보면 바로 그 진가를 알 수 있다. 면은 큐슈산 밀에 통밀가루를 섞어 직접 반죽해 뽑으며 탄력 있는 식감을 자랑한다. 우동에는 막 튀겨낸 튀김과 계절 채소가 함께 곁들여져 나온다. 주말에만 만나볼 수 있는 카레에 각종 토핑이 올라간 사무라이 스페셜도 놓칠 수 없는 메뉴. 일반적인 카레 우동을 생각했던 사람들의 기대를 좋은 의미에서 뒤집어 놓을 것이다.

on’t be alarmed by the flames—it’s just warayaki, a method of searing food in burning straw that originated in Kochi Prefecture. At Takibiya, fresh bonito are scaled then lightly seared in straw, skin and all, and served with thinly sliced onions and kabosu citrus. The owner, Munetoshi Yukitomo, came to Fukuoka from Tokyo three years ago to open his first shop in Hirao. He placed his bets on warayaki, then a rarity in Fukuoka, and soon, his 30-seat bistro became so popular you couldn't get in without a reservation; so last March, he opened his second shop in Imaizumi. We suggest you start with a platter of fresh sashimi, which includes warayaki, followed by some sake (served hot or cold; the staff will recommend one of eight sake based on your tastes). If you order a decanter of sake, you can request your favorite ceramic or glass cup from among the many on display. The menu changes daily, but all dishes are prepared to pair well with sake. The shop is cozy, so if you go, be sure to book a table first.

친자타키비야 이마이즈미점
친자타키비야의 간판 메뉴는 짚불구이. 맛도 맛이지만 보는 즐거움도 매우 크다. 가다랑어의 산지 고치현에서 예로부터 그래 왔던 것처럼 비늘을 벗겨낸 신선한 가다랑어를 껍질째로 표면만 살짝 구 워낸 후 얇 게 썬 양 파 등 을 듬뿍 얹어 감귤류의 즙을 살짝 끼얹어 먹는다. 짚불구이라고는 하나 표면만 살짝 구워내기 때문에 가다랑어회에 가까우며, 짚으로 구워내는 것이 맛의 비결이다. 오너 유키토모씨는 3년 전 후쿠오카 히라오에 처음으로 가게를 내면서 당시 후쿠오카에서는 거의 찾아볼 수 없었던 짚불 구이를 선보였다. 지금 은 예약 없이는 들어가기 힘든 인기 맛집으로 성장, 작년 3월 이마이즈미에 2호점을 냈다. 짚불구이는 사케와 잘 어울리며 종업원에게 문의하면 전문가가 엄선한 술 중 취향에 맞는 것을 추천해 준다. 180ml로 주문할 경우 가게 내에 장식된 잔 중 마음에 드는 잔을 선택할 수 있다. 도기, 유리 등 잔에 따라 달라지는 느낌을 비교해 보는 것도 재미있을 것이다. 숯불로 잘 구워낸 생선과 와규 등 사케와 잘 어울리는 각종 메뉴는 매일 달라진다. 공간이 협소(약 30석)하니 방문 시에는 예약하면 기다리지 않고 입장할 수 있다. 정원의 작은 강변에 자리를 잡고 앉은 사람들이 떠내려오는 잔이 자신의 앞을 지나가기 전에 시가를 읊고 잔에 든 술을 비우는 전통 의식. 잔을 맑은 물에 떠내려 보냄으로써 불결함을 정화한다는 의미를 지닌다. 관람석이 있으나 자리 잡기가 쉽지는 않으니 서둘러야.

치쿠젠 굴지의 영지에서 개최되는 행사. 희망할 시 큐슈에서는 오직 이곳에서만 이뤄지는 진언밀교의 전통적인 액막이 고오호인카지를 체험할 수 있다. 액막이할 이들이 일곱 신과 함께 행진하는 시치후쿠진 행렬이 볼거리. 가족 모두가 함께 즐길 수 있는 축제이다.

流傳至今，日本傳統文化之一的弓馬術。在三柱神社的參道上，飄零 落櫻中竄出俊馬疾馳，其上著獵裝的射手將箭充滿魄力的射出，如 此畫面正是稱為流鏑馬的活動。而從日落到晚上十點，用提燈照亮 約五百株的櫻花的櫻花祭，在神社內廣大的高畑公園裡也同時展開。

ve r y ye a r o n M a r. 3 , t h e Hina (Doll) Festival is held to pray for the health of young girls. (It is also known as Momo no Sekku, an auspicious date that traditionally marks the coming of spring.) The custom is said to have begun in the Heian era (794-1185) when people would try to drive away evil spirits by transferring them to dolls. Although the custom varies throughout Japan, families with young girls still display dolls even today. Dolls are set up on Feb. 4, a date known as risshun (“onset of spring”) in the old calendar, and people celebrate by eating three colors of mochi rice cakes—green, pink and white. In Yanagawa, the first Hina Festival for a new baby girl is marked w i t h sage m o n— co l o r f u l , h a n g i n g decorations that each family has passed down for generations.
Sagemon Viewing In Yanagawa, a girl’s first Hina Festival is an especially important occ asion. Sagemon are hung next to the doll stand, and a big celebration is held to pray for the health of the girl. The tradition began at the end of the Edo era (1603–1868), when people who had baby girls began making decorations from cloth scraps and hanging them on either side of the doll stand. In Yanagawa, each sagemon has 49 (7x7) decorations, which are often made in the shape of auspicious creatures, like rabbits and cranes. Nowadays, when this time of

Ohina-sama Water Parade
During the Ohina-sama Water Parade, young girls dressed in kimono ride down canals in boats decorated with hina dolls. About 200 brightly dressed girls and their mothers glide along downtown Yanagawa’s canals, which are also decked out with sagemon, in 12 river boats. The boats float at a leisurely pace, making the parade a popular destination for shutterbugs looking to snap some pictures from the banks. • 3/20 (Sun.) *rain date: 3/21 (Mon.)

Enjoy a 50-minute hina-viewing boat tour from Tsujimon to Okinohata. There are four boat rides available each day on the festival dates (10:30, 12:00, 13:30 and 15:00). When you're in Yanagawa, you don’t want to miss the giant sagemon in the shopping arcade, but a ride down the canal will afford you a whole different view of the Hina Festival. Hakataza Renovations
Hakataza will be closed for renovations from Feb. 22 to Apr. 1. Stage equipment will be replaced, and the seats and lobby will get a makeover. To commemorate the renovations, Super Kabuki II: One Piece will run from Apr. 2~26. This adaptation of the popular manga (320 million copies sold) features actors flying through the air in wire harnesses, real fire and water, and quick costume changes. Smog and PM2.5 Season is Here
March to September is high season for photochemical smog. If levels rise to the point of possibly affecting human health, City Hall will issue warnings for Eastern (Higashi and Hakata Wards), Central (Chuo, Minami and Jonan Wards) and Western (Sawara and Nishi Wards) Fukuoka on TV, radio and its website. Please refrain from going outdoors when warnings are in effect. City Hall also posts forecasts for yellow dust and PM2.5 particulates on its homepage. Fukuoka Chosen to Host 2021 World Aquatics Championships
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has selected Fukuoka City to host the 19th World Aquatics Championships and World Masters Championships in 2021. To alleviate this situation, Fukuoka City merged the three markets into a new facility—Vegefru Stadium—that opened on Island City on Feb. 12. The location was chosen for its excellent access to transportation. The new market not only aims to provide a steady supply of produce to the greater Fukuoka region, it hopes to become a hub for the export of Kyushu-grown foods to the rest of Asia. Apply in advance with the Oversized Trash Center (092-731-1153) to dispose of oversized trash. (Call to check fees, drop-off locations and collection dates.) Trash will be collected about one week after you apply. The City does not collect air conditioners, TVs, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines or dryers.
