WALL Located in the jungle of eateries and apparel shops that is Daimyo, Wall derives its name from its "Vertical Garden” wall decoration. Created on commission by the French modern artist/botanist Patrick Blanc, it is comprised of 110 plant varieties. Concrete is featured prominently in the urban interior of this bar, but the atmosphere is relaxed. Part of the Italian fashion house CoSTUME NATIONAL’s Fukuoka shop, Wall offers private label wines by CN founder & designer Ennio Capasa, and a wide range of champagnes. On display is contemporary art by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Wolfgang Tillmans and several other other artists.

CAFE
BAR KA-KU Ka-Ku is a rather special cafe-cum-pen shop. You’ll recognize it by its streetside exhibition of pens and assorted stationery, giving just a hint of what lies within. Inside, the shop has some 300 exquisitely-crafted designer fountain and ballpoint pens amongst other fine stationery. At its “Ink Labo” you can mix your own ink from 24 base colors in just 30 minutes. The cafe is the only one in Kyushu to serve ‘Ice Brewed Coffee’ (¥500); its rich flavor perfectly compliments a lengthy writing session. The cafe has Wi-Fi, an outdoor terrace and a power outlet at each table.

從牆面上約 300 種的原子筆及鋼筆文具，挑選日本獨有的 LABO 墨水中，選出 2~3 種顏色製作出專屬於自己的色彩 ；另外還可選 擇各類紙張，製成原創筆記本作為禮品，成為一個特別的伴手禮。 在店內提供九州古早味的冷泡咖啡，應用生啤機一面攪拌氮氣，一 邊加入黑咖啡，煮出口感柔和且濃醇的咖啡。店外設有露天座位街 友電源及 WiFi，是個適合長待的好場所。
다이묘에 위치한 모던한 빌딩의 샤프한 옥외 계단을 따라 올라가면 나 타 나 는 바 스 페이스 월. 벽에 는 현 대 미술가 이 자 식 물 학자 인 패트릭 블 랑 의 벽면 장식 ‘ 버티컬 가 든’이 펼쳐진다. 콘크리트를 기본으로 한 도회적인 인테리어에 약 110종류의 식물이 어우러져 언제 찾아도 마음이 편한 곳이다. 이탈리아의 패션 브랜드 CoSTUME N AT I O N A L이 운영 중인 이곳 에서는 디자 이너 엔니오 카파사의 오리지널 와인과 글라스 샴페인 등 원하는 드링크와 함께 스기모토 히로시, 볼프강 틸만스 등의 컨템포러리 아트도 감상할 수 있다.
K A-KU 후쿠오카점의 가장 큰 특징은 일본 유일의 잉크 Labo이다. 기본 24색 중 2~3가지를 골라 원하는 색을 만들 수 있다고. 그 외에 나만의 노트도 제작 가능하다(60 0엔~). 병설 카페의 추천 메뉴는 큐 슈에 처음으 로 상륙한 아 이스 브루드 커피. 흑맥주처럼 보이나 마셔 보면 부드럽 고 깊 은 커 피 가 입안 에 퍼 진 다. 오 너 카 노 씨 는 사 람들이 이곳 에서 커피를 마시며 소중한 사 람 에게 편지를 쓰 는 시간 을 보냈으면 한 다고 . 각 테이블 에는 콘 센트 와 W i F i가 완비되어있어 오래 머물기에도 좋은 곳이다.

ISSHINTEI HONTEN
For 71 years, Isshintei Honten has been a mainstay of the Nagahama ramen district. Now considered the soul food of Hakata, Nagahama ramen was first conceived in the 1940s for locals who wanted something delicious that could fill them up quickly and cheaply. A typical bowl comes with ultra-thin noodles and is topped simply with green onions and chashu (broiled pork). You can also order kaedama (noodle refills)—as long as you have some leftover soup! The tonkotsu (pork bone) soup takes 10 hours to prepare and is mixed with a “secret sauce” to create a mellow bowl of delicious ramen. There are 48 seats and, from the counter, you can watch the chefs make your ramen with skill and speed. The thin, homemade noodles are additive-free and cook quickly. In Fukuoka, many folk like to finish the night with a bowl of ramen. Open till 03:00 on weekdays and just a 15-minute walk from Tenjin, Isshintei is the perfect place to do just that.

나가하마 라멘은 1940년대에 성미가 급한 하카타 사람들이 저렴하고 빠르게 배를 불릴 수 있게 만들어진 하카타의 소울 푸드로 금방 삶아낼 수 있는 아주 얇은 면, 파와 차슈로 구성된 심플한 토핑, 그리고 남은 국물에 면을 추가할 수 있는 점이 특징이다. 창업 71년째인 잇신테이에서는 기본 스타일을 고수하면서도 돼지 머리, 다리 등을 센 불에서 10시간 이상 끓여낸 유백색 스프에 비법 양념을 더해 부드러운 풍미 속에 돼지뼈의 감칠맛이 느껴지는 국물을 제공한다. 평일에는 심야 3시까지 영업하며 술안주로 안성맞춤인 단품 메뉴도 다양하게 마련되어 있어 이자카야가 되기도 한다. 마지막을 라멘으로 마무리할 수 있다는 점도 매력적. 라멘 한 그릇에 담긴 하카타의 역사를 잇신테이에서 만나보기 바란다.

MAISON DE YOSHIDA Across from the bustling food stalls along the Nakagawa River sits a French restaurant that every Fukuoka foodie knows and where many of Fukuoka’s elite have dined: Maison de Yoshida. After mastering French cuisine in Switzerland and France, Chef Yasumasa Yoshida returned to open Kyushu’s first authentic French restaurant in 1970 and has been honing his craft ever since. Behind the thick door is an elegant interior decorated with fresh flowers and a grand piano. Chef Yoshida’s specialty is roast duck, a mainstay of French cuisine. The mallard (duck) is shipped in from Niigata and is currently in season. The aromatic red meat comes in a rich red wine sauce replete with mushrooms, nuts and other seasonal ingredients. But don’t let the duck fill you up. Chef Yoshida’s Crêpes Suzette are a delectable dessert, and the aroma of butter and oranges will tantalize your senses. No date? No problem! If you’re flying solo, stop by the second floor bar for some wine and food from the à la carte menu.

11/1 (Tue.) ~ 11/3 (Thu., Hol.) HAKUSHU FESTIVAL SUIJO PARADE
This festival is dedicated to the Yanagawa-born tanka poet and children’s songwriter, Hakushu Kitahara (1885-1942). Around 80 boats decorated with lanterns float down the canals of Yanagawa at night, with performances played out on riverside stages. For the event’s finale, fireworks light up the night sky. 白秋祭水上遊行
緬懷詩人・北原白秋 ( 歿於 1942.11.2)，在故鄉柳川的夜晚所舉行的 祭典。約 80 艘佈滿冓火與紙燈籠的小船， 從城堀水門往下游出發 ( 遊 船 )。沿岸舞台上有管樂隊、古琴以及無形文化財產「飛龍神轎」的 演出，最後以充滿著歡迎及緬懷之情的煙火迎來終幕。

하쿠슈 축제 수상 퍼레이드
19 42년 11월 2일에 세상을 떠난 시인 키타하라 하쿠슈를 그리며 고향인 야나가와가 실시하는 축제. 화톳불과 등불로 장식된 약 80척의 배가 줄지어 강 위를 유람한다. 코스 근처에 마련된 무대에서는 각종 퍼포먼스가 펼쳐지며 불꽃놀이가 행사의 피날레를 장식한다.

This festival has been held since the 1500s. The highlight is the parade of 14 ornately decorated, five-meter-high floats built in the shape of auspicious symbols: a carp, a dragon, a lion, etc. These are wheeled through the streets accompanied by the beat of taiko drums and the vigorous chants of the handlers. 唐津祭

카라츠 쿤치
수확을 감사하는 의미가 담긴 추계 대제. 일본의 중요무형민속문화재로 지정되어 있어 이 시기가 되면 50만 명의 방문객이 모여든다. 14대의 가마가 카라츠 신사 근처에서 출발하며 행사는 막을 올리게 되고 11월 3일 클라이막스에 해당하는 히키코미가 펼쳐진다.

The Kyushu Rainbow Pride parade is a celebration of Japanese LGBT culture. The parade leaves Reisen Park at 13:00 and marches to Tenjin and back over the course of an hour. 예로부터 사람들은 제사 후에 신에게 바쳤던 술을 마심으로써 신의 은총을 구하고자 했고 이에 매년 3월, 11월에는 후쿠오카현의 술이 봉헌된다. 술 시음 및 구매가 가능하며 국화 전시회도 동시에 개최되어 약 1,500개에 달하는 화분을 만나볼 수 있다고 한다.

AU BORD D’EAU FUKUOKA This May, a Bordeaux Wine Bureau (CIVB)-certified wine bar opened in Fukuoka along the banks of the Nakagawa River. At Au Bord d’Eau Fukuoka, you can enjoy a menu of more than 140 wines, including 20 Bordeaux wines, carefully selected by a sommelier to pair with dishes made using fresh local ingredients. It is the third CIVB-certified wine bar in the world after openings in New York and Shanghai. The atmosphere is casual, and you can stop by for a full meal or just a glass of wine. Chat with the sommelier to find a wine you like. Au Bord d’Eau Fukuoka opens every day at 11:30, so it can be your go-to spot for lunch meetings or a midday change of pace; there are tables to accommodate larger groups. WHAT IS THE AMERICA’S CUP?
The America’s Cup is a multi-stage competition that began in 1851 - 45 years before the modern Olympics - making it the world’s oldest international sporting event. Since that first race, teams have competed for the same silver trophy, colloquially known as the ‘Auld Mug’. Every three to four years, the America’s Cup is won through a series of races between two boats: the defending champion and a challenger. The selection process for the challenger starts two years before the final, with the World Series races. 아메리카스 컵은 1851년부터 이어져 온 유서 깊은 국제 요트 경기로 근대 올림픽보다 45년 먼저 시작되었으며 본 대회의 우승컵 ‘아메리카스 컵’은 대대로 사용되는 세계에서 가장 오래된 스포츠 트로피로 알려져 있다. 3, 4년에 한 번 열리는 아메리카스 컵에서는 지난 대회 우승팀과 루이 비통 컵에서 선출된 도전팀이 1:1로 대결을 벌이게 된다. 참가팀은 아메리카스 컵 도전장을 손에 넣기 위해 2년 동안 세계 각국에서 예선 ‘루이 비통 아메리카스 컵 월드 시리즈’에서 승부를 겨루게 되고 그 후 개최되는 ‘아메리카스 컵 챌린저 시리즈’에서 도전팀 대표를 선출하게 된다.

WHAT IS THE WORLD SERIES? A series of pre-qualifying races for the America’s Cup, with a stage (or two) in each team’s home country. Eight stages have taken place so far and Fukuoka hosts the ninth and final stage. The top two teams at the end of the World Series enter the America’s Cup Qualifiers with bonus points: the winner takes two points, and second place one. These points are extremely valuable in the qualifying stages of the America’s Cup, which take place in Bermuda in early 2017. 「LV 美洲盃世界大賽」是取得美洲盃挑戰權 的預賽，參加隊伍在各舉辦國進行大會。今 回，在福岡市舉辦的是最終預選大會的第 9 戰。大會結束後的前兩名隊伍，第一名獲得 額外 2 積分，第二名獲得額外 1 積分，然後 帶著積分前進到 2017 於百幕達舉行的美洲 盃挑戰賽爭取勝利。 아메리카스 컵으로 가는 도전장을 손에 넣기 위 한 예 선 시리 즈 ‘루 이 비 통 아 메 리 카 스 컵 월드 시리즈’에서는 참가 팀이 돌아가며 자 국 에 서 대 회를 개최하게 된다. 이번에 후 쿠오 카시에 서 개 최될 대 회는 최종 예 선 대회인 9차 대회. 대회 종료 후, 상위 2팀이 보너스 포인트를 부여받게 되며(1위 2포인트, 2위 1포인트) 2017년에 버뮤다에서 개최될 아메리카스 컵 챌린저 시리즈에 진출하게 된다.

INTRODUCING TEAM SOFTBANK JAPAN Team Softbank Japan are the first Japanese entrants to the America’s Cup since the turn of the millennium. The team is led by the former America’s Cup winning skipper, Dean Barker (NZ), and a true veteran of Japanese sailing, Kazuhiko "Fuku" Sofuku. OIMATSU At Oimatsu, a well-known ryotei established in 1927, dining is a complete experience. From the food and private rooms to the tableware, interior design and gardens, no detail is overlooked. On our visit, Keiko Ueno, the kimono-clad okamisan, greeted us at the entrance, and the paper screens, doors, wall hangings and flowers were freshly changed to match the season. The chef, Hiroyuki Fujiwara, offers a traditional kaiseki menu: appetizers, soup, sashimi, grilled fish, nimono, pickles, rice, miso soup and dessert. The painstaking preparation and presentation aims to highlight the abundance of seasonal ingredients. We sampled their new lunch menu: the appetizer - miso-pickled egg yolk - was carefully arranged to look like a persimmon and the plates were decorated with zebra grass and autumn leaves. If you want to treat yourself to the finest Japanese-style dining and hospitality there is, look no further than Oimatsu.

오이마츠

HACHIBEI Yakitori typically refers to the broader category of kushiyaki, or skewered meats and vegetables. For Fukuokans, yakitori restaurants are not only places for group parties and dates; they take their families there to enjoy the casual atmosphere. Another unique feature of Fukuoka yakitori shops is the butabara (pork belly). While it's second nature for locals to start with an order of butabara, it is not typically served in other prefectures. Another mainstay is the fresh cabbage, which comes topped with a lip-smacking dressing of lemon, vinegar and light soy sauce and is replenished as requested. At Hachibei’s Shoninbashi-dori shop, you can enjoy a wide range of yakitori in a sophisticated, modern atmosphere. 큐슈 바쇼 九州場所
THE KYUSHU BASHO
For two weeks in November, Fukuoka will transform into the home of sumo. The streets of the city will be made more exciting by the odd glimpse of the rikishi (wrestlers), their hulking mass, elegantly fanned top-knot, full kimono and aroma of talcum powder making them an easy spot amongst the regulars.
在 11 月的兩週間， 在福岡將會舉辦相撲大賽。 市內將可看到有著美麗大銀杏髮髻的力士和 其弟子等團體出現。綁髮髻時用的油的香味， 將引導行人們朝著氣氛漸漸熱絡的九州場所 前進。 11월에는 2주간 후쿠오카에서 스모 대회가 개최된다. 이 기간 중 에는 머리를 틀 어 올리고 기모노를 입은 스모 선수를 거리에서 자주 만나 볼 수 있다. 머리를 틀어 올릴 때 사용하는 기름 향기에 사람들의 큐슈 바쇼에 대한 기대감이 고조된다.

THE TOURNAMENTS Six sumo basho (tournaments) are held each year. Fukuoka hosts Kyushu’s iteration of the tournament, a spectacle that sees Fukuoka’s average BMI rise 12 points and draws crowds of people from across the region. A cornerstone of Japanese culture, the ritual-like combat takes place within an intricate league system accompanied by ancient traditions. 一年 6 回，在本場所 ( 相撲場 ) 舉辦。福岡的話則在九州場所舉行，是每年拉高福岡 人 BMI 值 12 點、吸引九州人潮的年度大事件。像儀式般的勝負比賽，是遵從自古以 來訂下的複雜聯盟賽制進行。

ONES TO WATCH The biggest, beastliest and best of the sumo are the yokozuna. To become a yokozuna, rikishi must win two basho in a row, a uniquely difficult feat. There are currently only three yokozuna out of some 660 competing wrestlers.
Hakuho: 白鵬 The undisputed champion is Hakuho. He has 37 championship wins, the highest number in history. After winning the March and May basho, he sat out the September tournament due to injury. He’s expected to be back to full form for the Kyushu Basho. Height: 192cm. Weight: 155kg. DOB: 11 Mar. 1985. Country: Mongolia. Championship Wins: 37
Harumafuji: 日馬富士 With eight championship wins is Harumafuji. He was promoted to yokozuna in 2012 and in 2015 was the lightest wrestler in the top division at 133kg. SUMO SPEAK
The competition lasts all day, starting with the juniors at 08:25. Rikishi in the lower leagues tend to be younger and lighter and matches focus more on speed than power. The show really gets going with the colorful dohyo-iri (entrance ceremony) of the juryo - second tier wrestlers - at around 14:15. These guys are battling for the honor of entering the top-division and it is in the juryo that future stars are born. At 15:40, the makunouchi (top division) rikishi enter the ring with a special dohyo-iri performed by the yokozuna. Earth-shaking bouts commence, with an average time of just six seconds. 競賽從 8 點 25 分開始至閉幕進行一整天的時間，幕下力士們因為年 輕和體重較輕的關係，比起力量的決鬥而言，比賽的走向會更偏向 速度戰為主。 大相撲在 14 點 15 分左右，將在豪華炫麗的十兩力士踏入土俵後 進入主橋段。十兩力士們為了昇格稱之為幕內的更高階級而奮鬥。 未來的閃耀之星都是從十兩力士誕生的。15 點 40 分左右，伴隨著 橫綱進入土俵，幕內力士們一同進入土俵。平均 6 秒左右、晃動大 地般的決戰也在此時展開。

ISHIKAWA GOEMON
In this take on a classic love story, the legendary bandit Ishikawa Goemon (Ichikawa Ebizo) falls in love with Chacha (Kataoka Takataro), the beloved courtesan of the taiko Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Ichikawa Ukon). Together, they have a child and, when it is revealed that Hideyoshi is actually Goemon’s father, the ruler rejoices that he will have a grandson. Meanwhile, the treacherous Chinese warlord Wang Fang (Nakamura Shido) hears a tale about the perfect Japanese woman, Chacha. He kidnaps Chacha, and the furious Goemon travels across the sea to save his love...
