Quite often, restaurant menus will feature a yoshoku “Western” section, a broad category of traditionally non-Japanese dishes that have been adapted to Japanese tastes. If you like “Western” food, then you’ll love Ikkaku Shokudo. Here you can enjoy a wide range of set meals like karaage (fried chicken) and chicken nanban or choose from several combo sets. Every order comes with self-serve raw eggs, pickles and oolong tea, and there are free rice refills. The most popular combo is the hamburg steak and fried shrimp (¥1,200). The hamburg is made from a mix of wagyu beef and Japanese pork and comes with your choice of three sauces: demi-glace, tomato or Japanese. If you’re feeling famished and want to sample the gamut of “Western” delights, then try the deluxe set meal (¥1,880), which features hamburg steak, pork tongue stew, karaage, fried shrimp and sausage. The shop is popular with people of all ages, especially children, but there is also a counter if you happen to be flying solo.

FUKUOKA - THE NOODLE CITY
As the purported birthplace of udon, Fukuoka has witnessed the evolution of many unique styles of this popular noodle over the years. More recently, there has been an uptick in “chic” udon shops catering to female customers and “udon bars”, which add a pub element to the standard noodle shop paradigm. One of these udon bars, nestled in the back alleys of Akasaka, is Udon Daigaku. The noodles are handmade from Itoshima flour, and the broth is a combination of kombu (kelp) and dried bonito. The udon here can easily function as a meal or a snack to accompany your libations. With nearly 30 varieties, the menu includes standards like meat udon, topped with salty-sweet beef tendon, as well as originals like the suji-kama udon, whose noodles you dip in a separate bowl of broth, and the spicy tantan udon. The a la carte menu features 50 items, the most 烏龍麵大學 popular of which is the sautéed Unzen 「博多烏龍麵」以柔軟麵體為特徵，發展 ham. Alcohol runs the gamut from beer 出獨特的烏龍麵文化。近年為女性打造的 「時髦系烏龍麵」也在居酒屋中流行起來。 to sake to wine.

히코산 진구 고진코사이
3개의 가마를 짊어진 남성들이 이틀에 걸쳐 히코산 중턱에서부터 약 900단짜리 돌계단을 내려온 뒤 200m짜리 급경사 돌계단을 오르는 박력 넘치는 전통 행사 고진코사이. 소원을 쓴 고마기(500엔)를 태우며 성취를 기원하는 행사는 일반인도 참가할 수 있다.

Coinciding with cherry blossom season, the theme of this annual ceramic fair is “Spring in Full Bloom.” It’s an excellent chance to see and purchase the works of approximately thirty potters who use techniques dating back to the Edo period. 이마리 오오카와치야마 도자기 마켓
벚꽃 개화 시기에 맞춰 열리는 도자기 축제. 전통기술을 이어온 도자기 공방 약 30곳의 미술품, 일반 식기 등이 전시·판매되며 저렴한 가격에 구매할 수 있다. 마켓이 열리는 오오카와치야마 일대는 오오카와치 나베시마 가마터로 국가의 유적으로 지정되어 있다고.

The Nishitetsu Marutto Pass, is a new train and bus pass for foreign visitors. One pass allows unlimited train travel on the Nishitetsu Omuta, Dazaifu, and Amagi lines. The second pass can be used on all Nishitetsu buses within the limits of Fukuoka City. Even better, the passes can be used on the same or different days. Finally, the passes (¥2,000/adult, ¥1,000/children) include a Fun Pass Fukuoka Coupon Book which offers discounts at many restaurants and services!
FROM TRAIN TO BICYCLE
Oscar rode the rails a little over an hour and some 80km south of Fukuoka City, past Dazaifu, Kurume, and Yanagawa to Omuta, the end of the Nishitetsu Line. One way to there is ¥1,020 so the Marutto Pass has already saved him cash. There he rented a bicycle at the station (¥500) and began to explore.

Oscar used his train pass, traveling to Omuta, the furthest point south on the Nishitetsu Omuta Line. Meanwhile, Lauren used her bus pass to criss-cross Fukuoka City. In the evening the two met up at a yatai (food stall) in Tenjin to share their experiences. (Note: the bus and train passes must be used by the same person. In this example, Oscar and Lauren each purchased a Marutto Pass.)

A 20-minute walk from Nishitetsu Futsukaichi Station, Oscar found rest and relaxation at Hakatayu, an onsen (hot spring) located in the heart of Futsukaichi for just ÂĽ300.
