CAFE UMENOMA
MINOSHIMA MARKET STREET Minoshima was once a bustling shopping area known as the Kitchen of Hakata. Today, over 50 mostly family-run shops with the nostalgic look of the Showa era remain (1920s to ‘80s). Made on the spot, you can’t find tofu any fresher than Ide Tofu’s, and a bottle of his healthy, refreshing soy milk is ¥130. Nearby, Tempura Egami Shokuhin offers still-sizzling tempura; their popular potato croquettes are just ¥43 each! Take a pleasant hour-long stroll, or, if you have more time, soak in the atmosphere with a stay at Costel Minoshima: a friendly, chic hostel with a cafe and bar. More details and photos online!
With elegant high ceilings and an Asian feel, Umenoma serves Fukuoka’s famous Yame green tea and a selection of original sweets. Try the Yame gyokuro, ranked best in Japan for 12 years running (¥700), or choose from three flavors of matcha. Either one goes great with the anko-dama, a red bean paste ball wrapped in paper-thin kanten (chewy, vegan-friendly jelly) (¥350). Another popular dessert is the anmitsu (¥800), a bowl jam-packed with fruits, kanten, mochi dumplings, anko and ice cream. Umenoma also offers seasonal delights, such as kakigori (shaved ice), and other unique treats.

美野島商店街
依然保留濃厚昭和時代色彩的美野島商店街。直到今日，約 50 家 以家族經營為主的懷舊感風情商店還在這裡服務著。每日早晨手工 製作豆腐的井出商店堅持古老的製程，使的慕名而來的人們願意專 程來到美野島 ；從昭和 32 年以來沒有改變過味道以及價格（1 個 ¥43 ！）的江上食品的可樂餅是商店街另一項名產。旅客們可以在 科斯特旅館一樓的咖啡廳享受商店街的懷舊氣氛，當然，住宿一晚 也是很好的選擇。
미노시마 상점가
도심에서 가까우면서도 옛 분위기를 그대로 간직하고 있는 미노시마 상점가. 생선 가게, 채소 가게 등 약 5 0 개 점포 가 입점 중. 이데 상점에서는 옛 방식 그대로 매일 이른 아침부터 두부를 직접 만든다. 이 두부와 두유를 사기 위해 미노시마를 찾는 사람이 있을 정도. 변함없는 맛과 거의 변함없는 가격(1개 43엔)의 에가미 식품 고로케는 모두가 인정하는 미노시마 상점가의 명물. 따끈따끈할 때 바로 먹도록 하자. 숙박 가능한 게스트 하우스 코스텔 미노시마 1층에는 카페가 있어 쉬어갈 수도 있다.

FUKUOKA - THE NOODLE CITY IMATOMI Soba, or buckwheat noodles, are light but filling, and there are many places where you can enjoy them— from standing counter bars, to udon shops, to refined specialty shops. This month we are pleased to introduce Imatomi—an elegant but welcoming soba restaurant run by a dedicated owner, Imatomi. Every morning, Imatomi grinds buckwheat delivered fresh from Kumamoto and makes his noodles by hand. Customers can choose from two main types of soba: seiro, cold noodles served on bamboo screens, and kakesoba, soba in hot soup. During the lunch rush, a single bowl of soba would suffice, but you may also want to try one of the trademark side-dishes, such as duck or stewed herring. In the evening, why not enjoy a tipple of sake while you wait for your meal? Not sure what to order? Try the soba set (¥1,900) that comes with three or four appetizers and a double shot (90ml) of sake (which can be substituted with a dessert).

HOJOYA FESTIVAL

his over 1000-year-old celebration, one of Hakata’s big three festivals, marks the beginning of autumn, and invites us to be thankful for life (our own and others’). The 1km path to the shrine is lined with 500 stalls; some offer fun activities, like eel fishing and haunted houses, and others hawk traditional wares, like fresh ginger - sold stem and all, ohajiki (game counters) and chanpon (glass toys painted by shrine maidens).

放生會
已有超過千年歷史的『放生會』是博多三大 祭典之一。為的是對生命的感恩以及感謝秋 天的豐收。在筥崎宮舉辦的祭典，會在宮前 的參道上設有鬼屋、釣鰻魚…等高達五百個 攤販，而福岡各項美食也匯聚在其中。每年 巫女親手彩繪的博多 Chanpon( 玻璃工藝品 )、 日本傳統圓扁形彈珠、及剛採收的生薑等都 是炙手可熱的名產。這裡擁有日本最經典的 祭典風貌，是你千萬不能錯過的行程！
하코자키구 호죠야
하카타의 3대 축제 중 하나인 호죠야는 모든 생명을 측은히 여기고 가을의 결실에 감사하는 하코자키구의 의식이다. 복을 불러다 준다고 하는 ‘호죠야 오하지키’는 판매 시작과 동시에 품절되기 일쑤. 유리로 만들어진 장난감인 하카타 챤폰과 노점에서 판매되는 잎이 붙어있는 생강도 호죠야의 명물. 참배길의 500개 가까이 되는 노점 등이 전형적인 일본 축제 풍경을 보여준다.

ukuoka is the birthplace of many beloved soul foods, from ramen to motsunabe, but even die-hard locals may not realize that our yakitori is uniquely Fukuokan. What seems normal here, like skewers of pork belly (Wait? That's not chicken!) and chopped cabbage with a vinegary sauce, are actually hallmarks of the Hakata-style. Another famous local skewer is the ever-crispy torikawa (chicken skin). These skewers use the skin of the chicken neck, one chicken per skewer, because it is thin and lean. The best place in town to get torikawa is Kawaya, which has two shops in the city. When you walk in you will see a mountain of the painstakingly crafted skewers next to the counter—proper slow-roasting takes up to six days! —but this quickly dwindles as customers order them by the dozens. The slow-roasting removes the fat while keeping the flavor in. (Spice-lovers can add crushed red pepper.) So stop by Kawaya and enjoy some torikawa with cabbage and beer, just like a true Fukuokan would!

豚骨拉麵、牛雜火鍋、水炊雞肉鍋…等是深 受福岡人喜愛的在地美食 ；卻沒想過“串燒” 這個日常美味，也是專屬於福岡的特色菜單。 最初是以醋為底的和風醬汁加上切片的白菜 當前菜，接下來以烤的順序陸續上菜。其中 烤的酥脆的雞皮是福岡特有的吃法 - 食材只 選雞脖子的皮，一隻雞只能做一串，以小火 反覆沾醬烤出漂亮的金黃色。在福岡幾間店 中，KAWAYA 串燒店的雞皮是用醬油醃製後， 整齊的上架仔細烤了 6 天才完成的，入口時 加上一點唐辛子更加美味。與同伴一同享受 這道料理，一邊喝啤酒，配白菜，追加喜歡 的串燒，就是福岡流找樂子的方法！

돈코츠 라멘, 모츠나베, 미즈타키 등 후쿠오카가 자랑하는 각종 먹거리 중에서 너무나도 당연해 후쿠오카의 명물이라는 사실을 지역 주민들조차 잊기 쉬운 메뉴가 바로 야키토리이다. 양념을 뿌린 생양배추가 먼저 나오고 그 위에 먼저 구워지는 대로 차례차례 야키토리를 올려주는 점이나 야키토리 가게이지만(‘토리’는 ‘닭’) 돼지나 소를 사용한 메뉴가 있는 점… 그리고 바삭바삭한 닭 껍질 토리카와도 실은 후쿠오카 명물이다. 얇고 부드러우며 지방이 적은 목 부분 껍질을 한 마리 분량 꼬치에 끼운 후 살짝 구운 뒤 양념에 묻혀 먹음직스러운 갈색빛을 띨 때까지 다시 구워내는 작업을 반복한다. 이 수고로운 작업이 필요한 토리카와 전문점 중 하나인 카와야의 토리카와는 6일간 천천히 구워내 양념 맛이 아주 잘 베어있다. 자리에 앉자마자 토리카와를 5~10개씩 주문하는 사람도 있을 정도. 천천히 구워내기 때문에 지방은 떨어져 나가고 안쪽은 숙성된듯한 감칠맛이 그대로 남아있다. 받자마자 우선 그대로 맛본 뒤에 취향에 따라 이치미를 뿌려 매콤하게 먹어도 좋다. 토리카와를 맛본 후에는 양배추를 안주 삼아 맥주를 마시거나 원하는 꼬치를 주문해 즐거운 시간을 보내자. Certificate Issuance Notification System to Begin City Participates in First ODA Project
Fukuoka will participate in a waterworksrelated overseas development aid (ODA) project organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Yangon, Myanmar. Fukuoka City has garnered attention from Asian countries for its community development master plan which promotes the use of technical know-how, including world-class water recycling techniques and "Fukuoka Method" semi-aerobic landfills, to overcome urban problems.
On Sept. 1, a new service will commence to notify you if a third party has had official certificates issued in your name. Pre-registration is required to use this service. If you are a registered resident of Fukuoka (or used to be but live elsewhere in Japan), you can pre-register at the Citizen Section of the Ward Office or Branch Office where your residence record is on file.
There are currently about 28,000 foreigners living in Fukuoka, and according to a recent survey, 93% say

PC and smartphone users are asked to complete their forms by Sept. 20. Those who don't reply using the online form should complete the standard paper form and drop it in the mail by Oct. 7.
