Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by hotel chefs, The Market F opened this July inside the Grand Hyatt. Not only are the meals made with locally sourced ingredients, they are visually appealing as well: head chef Kenichi Goto oversees presentation. Try the grilled Hakata Wagyu fillet served with a side of grilled veggies and a port wine sauce flavored with Kyushu yuzu gosho (citrus pepper). You can also enjoy a carpaccio of freshly caught fish with local herbs as well as Kyushu-grown pork and chicken. The focus on the local is not only evident, it’s delicious.

HIRU TO YORU
Opened this May, Hiru to Yoru’s mainstay is Hakata ramen and champon, but it offers even more. Owner Tsunayoshi Matsuya named the shop (which means “day and night”) because he wanted to provide two different dining experiences under one roof. Having worked for 10 years at the popular ramen shop Shin-Shin, Matsuya is a noodle man by trade, and his rich and creamy ramen comes without the trademark odor of tonkotsu (pork bones). His veggie-filled champon offers an even richer taste experience. The noodles come from Manabe Shokuhin, a supplier for many popular ramen restaurants. Come nighttime, the shop transforms into something akin to a food stall, offering 20 or so kinds of charcoal-grilled skewers, from pork belly to chicken skin. You can also order fried dumplings, hanging tender steak, grilled tripe with miso, and many other items. Of course, you can also end a night of drinking in true Fukuoka style—with a bowl of noodles!
博多拉麵、什錦麵 Hiru to yoru
2017 年 5 月「博多拉麵、什錦麵 Hiru to yoru」在大名地區開幕啦！ 拉麵與什錦麵是店內的招牌料理。按照店名希望客人「白天晚上都 能得到不同樂趣」 。店長松屋先生曾於人氣拉麵店 Shin-Shin 在店長 一職歷練十個寒暑，紮實的基礎與事前準備，做出賦予麵靈魂的豚 骨湯頭，尤其什錦麵濃郁更顯突出。麵條是來自人氣製麵「真鍋製 麺」 。除此之外，晚上搖身一變為適合小酌的屋台也很充滿趣味 ；炭 火烤出噴香的雞皮、豬五花共 20 幾種招牌串燒，再加上煎餃、鐵板 味噌牛雜等人氣料理配上一杯酒，最後再以拉麵收尾是多麼吸引人 的一件事。
하카타 라멘 짬뽕 히루토요루
2017년 5월에 다이묘에 오픈한 하카타 라멘 짬뽕 히루토요루(낮과 밤). 메인 면 요리인 라멘과 짬뽕, 그리고 낮과 밤에 각기 다른 즐거움을 주겠다는 의미에서 붙여진 이름이다. 오너 마츠야 씨는 인기 라멘 가게 Shin-Shin에서 10년간 점장으로 일한 프로. 라멘, 짬뽕의 핵심인 톤코츠 스프는 잡내가 나지 않는 부드러운 맛으로 특히 채소를 스프로 볶아 익히는 짬뽕을 맛보면 그 진한 맛을 더욱 잘 느낄 수 있다. 한편 면은 후쿠오카의 유명 가게 면을 다수 제조 중인 마나베 제면의 것을 사용한다고. 밤에는 야타이처럼 가볍게 한 잔 할 수 있는 공간으로 변하는 점도 흥미롭다. 숯불로 구워내는 꼬치 구이도 약 20가지가 준비되어 있으며 그 외에도 교자 등의 안주 메뉴가 다채롭게 준비되어 있어 술자리를 즐긴 후 마무리로 먹는 라멘까지를 한자리에서 해결할 수 있다는 점이 매력적이다.

This festival is dedicated to the Yanagawa-born tanka poet and children’s songwriter, Hakushu Kitahara (1885-1942). Around 70 boats decorated with lanterns float down the canals of Yanagawa at night, with performances played out on riverside stages. For the event’s finale, fireworks light up the night sky. 白秋祭水上遊行

THE KYUSHU BASHO
For two weeks in November, the streets of Fukuoka will be made more exciting by the odd glimpse of the rikishi (wrestlers), their hulking mass, elegantly fanned top-knot, full kimono and aroma of talcum powder making them an easy spot amongst the locals. 11월에는 2주간 후쿠오카에서 스모 대회가 개최된다. 이 기간 중에는 머리를 틀어 올리고 기모노를 입은 스모 선수를 거리에서 자주 만나볼 수 있다. 머리를 틀어 올릴 때 사용하는 기름 향 기에 사 람 들의 큐 슈 바 쇼 에 대 한 기대감이 고조된다. 在 11 月的兩週間，在福岡將會舉辦相撲大 賽。市內將可看到有著美麗大銀杏髮髻的力 士和其弟子等團體出現。綁髮髻時用的油的 香味，將引導行人們朝著氣氛漸漸熱絡的九 州場所前進。

This festival has been held since the 1500s. The highlight is the parade of 14 ornately decorated, five-meter-high floats built in the shape of auspicious symbols: a carp, a dragon, a lion, etc. These are wheeled through the streets accompanied by the beat of taiko drums and the vigorous chants of the handlers. 唐津祭

This 20-year-old antique fair is held annually at Hakozakigu Shrine every month (except Jan. and Sep.). Peruse over 200 stalls lined up at the 700 m approach to the shrine for secondhand furniture, knick-knacks, antique goods for everyday use, even food and drink. YANAGAWA NOW!
Anytime of the year is a good time to visit Yanagawa, often referred to as “The Venice of Kyushu”. And while punting down its tranquil canals with a singing boatman is a must, consider checking out Unryu no Sato*, a museum dedicated to the sport of sumo. There’s an outdoor sumo ring and inside there’s plenty of displays and memorabilia. This perfectly coincides with the Kyushu Sumo Tournament taking place in Fukuoka City in November.
YANAGAWA CANAL BOAT CRUISING Local oarsmen use a single pole to gently glide the punts along a four and a half kilometer course of canals.
