Opened last Februar y, Number Shot, whose name is a play on words with namba shotto (“whatcha doin’” in Kyushu dialect) prides itself in serving fresh Kyushu seafood and meals made mostly from locally sourced ingredients. Ringer Hut is a 646-outlet nationwide chain that has made a name for Nagasakistyle champon noodles. Its trademark Nagasaki Champon comes loaded with 255 g of vegetables, but if you’d like your daily allowance of 480 g of veggies in one go, try the whopping Yasai Tappuri Champon. Ringer Hut now offers My Champon, a new way to order a custom-made dish made from your choice of toppings, noodles, soups and sizes. The Fukuoka Hashimoto shop is just one of six shops nationwide to offer this new service. Here, you can mix and match 25 different toppings (¥54~ ea.) to create an innovative, original bowl of champon. It is also just the second shop in Japan to open up a Ringer Deli, which keeps nearly 20 kinds of Japanese, Western and Chinese veggies used in the restaurant's dishes in stock at all times. 세츠분 축제
입춘 하루 전날을 뜻하는 세츠분. 11시와 18시에는 재해를 막고 복을 부르는 의식이 거행되며 11시부터는 1시간마다 잡귀를 내쫓고 복을 불러오기 위해 콩을 뿌리는 행사가 열리는데 이때 뿌려지는 콩주머니 안에는 호화 경품 교환권이 들어있기도 하다.

Run by a mother and son duo, Lulu prides itself in its home-baked sweets and select coffees. A green carpet fills the spacious interior, creating a homey atmosphere that makes the shop a popular spot for both couples and young mothers with kids. Shop owner Ryosuke Muranaka buys coffee beans from an Itoshima-based roaster who sources beans directly from growers overseas. Try the bold-flavored drip coffee or the mild, milky latte. His mother, Shizue, makes her pound cakes and puddings with beet sugar, and her chocolate brownie is a big hit. All sweets are available for take-out.

MIETSU NAVAL DOCK A Dock Built to Compete with Foreign Powers
During Japan’s period of isolation, when the only foreign countries permitted to trade with Japan were the Netherlands and China, soldiers from the domains of Saga and Fukuoka spent nearly 200 years standing guard at the port of Nagasaki, the sole gateway to Japan at that time. The Saga Domain was particularly wary of Western powers making inroads into Asia, so to ensure Japan could compete against such opponents, it set up a forge for casting iron cannons and a facility for manufacturing and repairing Western-style steamships. In 1858, the Saga Domain built the Ofunate-Keikosho Naval Academy in Mietsu at the site of a small boat dock for the purpose of spreading the knowledge and skills acquired at the Shogunate’s Nagasaki Naval Training Institute to the other samurai of the Saga Domain. This marks the origin of the Mietsu Naval Dock.

在鎖國政策之下，作為通商港口僅限開放給荷蘭、中國的長崎，長 達 200 年之間一直由佐賀籓和福岡籓守護著。對於侵犯亞洲的歐美 列強有很強烈危機感的佐賀籓，為了建立對抗這股勢力的武力，開 始整備作為鑄造鐵製大砲和蒸汽機關為動力的西洋船艦的建造、維 修的設施。 1858 年，為了在佐賀籓內，廣傳由幕府所開辦的長崎海軍講習所所 學到的航海，以及造船的知識、技術，在專門管理籓所有日本船的 御船屋所在的三重津地區（位於三重地區的港口：津是港口的意思） ， 設置了御船手稽古所。這就是三重津海軍所的起點。

구미 열강에 대항하기 위해 만들어진 미에쓰 해군소
쇄국정책 하 에 오직 네덜란드, 중 국에게만 허락되었던 교류 창구 나가사키를 약 200년에 걸쳐 경호해왔던 사가 번과 후쿠오카 번. 구미 열강이 아시아를 침범할 것이라는 강한 위기감을 느낀 사가 번은 그 세력에 대항할 수 있을 만한 힘을 기르기 위해 철제 대포 주조와 증기기관을 동력으로 삼는 서양식 배를 건조 및 수리하는 시설을 정비하게 된다. 18 5 8년, 막부가 개설한 나가사키 해군 전습소에서 배운 항해 및 조선 관련 지식과 기술을 사가 번 내에 널리 알리기 위해 번이 소유한 일본식 목조선을 관리하는 오후나야가 있던 미에쓰(쓰는 항구라는 뜻) 에 오후나테 게이코쇼(선원훈련소)를 설치. 이것이 미에쓰 해군소의 원점이다.

Features of the Mietsu Naval Dock
At the time, the Japanese-style ships owned by the Saga Domain were about 20 meters long, but the Denryūmaru, a steam warship purchased from the Dutch, was 45 meters long, making it too large for the Small Boat Dock. The Mietsu Naval Dock was built for the purpose of repairing large Western-style ships like this one. The dock was built with wood and dirt, using traditional Japanese building techniques, and it was designed to
take advantage of a unique aspect of the Ariake Sea, namely, a six-meter difference between the high and low tides. This entire area has been turned into Sano Memorial Park, which houses both the Mietsu Naval Dock, a historical site considered to be the origin of modern technology in Japan, and the Tsunetami Sano Memorial Museum, which is dedicated to the man who not only oversaw the construction of the Mietsu Naval Dock, but also founded the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Mietsu Dome Theater
On the first floor of the Tsunetami Sano Memorial Museum, you can watch a powerful five-minute video on the 6 m-diameter Dome Theater about the story of the Saga Domain and the construction of the Mietsu Naval Dock. (Subtitles are available in English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.) You can also try out an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset at the counter in front of the Dome Theater. 24th JOJIMA SAKE FESTIVAL & BREWERY HOPPING The high quality waters of Chikugo River as well as the large grain rice and fragrant Hita cedars make Jojima an excellent place for brewing sake – and this event attracts approximately 110,000 people! The main venue is filled with attractions including stand-up bars, a taiko drum performance, a sake-themed folk song rendition, and food stalls. And don’t miss out on the limited edition sake from the eight participating breweries! Take the free shuttle bus between breweries and enjoy the scenery as you sip Jojima’s best sake!

① Explore Jojima’s sake breweries! Sample some of the best sake that the breweries have to offer! Limited edition sake will also be on sale during the kurabiraki. Make sure to take in the local scenery too! ② Chill-out at the main venue! Sample Jojima sake at the stand-up bars or try some local delicacies from one of the many food stalls.
