entral Florida is home to two of Florida's largest metropolitan areas, Tampa Bay and Orlando, and showcases some of the country’s greatest resorts and beaches. The warm weather and world-famous attractions drive millions of visitors here each year. Situated on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the Tampa Bay Region is home to three of the state's most dynamic cities, Tampa, St. Petersburg & Clearwater. Aside from the abundance of cultural history and diversity of its citizens, Tampa has one of the largest GLBT populations in the country. Ybor City, the historic Cuban District of Tampa, has been a major GLBT tourism hub of activity. It's alive with shops, entertainment venues, excellent dining and hotels. To the west, across Old Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg and Clearwater lie adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico and the area's famous beaches. The biggest annual GLBT events are: St. Pete Pride which takes place at the end of June, the Tampa Int’l Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in October and Winter Pride Tampa Bay in February. Ninety minutes northeast of the Tampa Bay Region is Orlando. Home of Disneyworld, SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Studios, Orlando welcomes the arrival of thousands of tourists daily. However, Orlando isn't just for kids any more. The theme park capital of America has plenty to offer adults and the GLBT community. Orlando is home to the oldest gay community center in Florida and one of the nation's most popular gay events. With a two-decade tradition, Gay Days has evolved from a one-day affair into a weeklong celebration attracting over 100,000 pleasure seekers to dozens of events citywide. Attendees enjoy world-class nightlife and pool parties all hosted by the hottest DJs at many of the city's best venues. As the city's new skyline cropped up with modern skyscrapers, newly designed parks, fountains, bike paths and walkways, Orlando has become an even better place to visit and live. The friendly local GLBT community is growing and will make you feel comfortable.

St. Petersburg

Sunshine Skyway Bridge, photo courtesy of Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater

ith an average of some 360 days of sunshine each year, St. Petersburg has certainly earned it’s nickname of “The Sunshine City”. The remarkable weather combined with shopping & fine dining makes this city a popular tourist destination all year long. St. Petersburg is home to a wealth of culture including the Dali Museum (which houses the most extensive collection of Dali works outside of Spain). Take a stroll on the downtown waterfront to see the historic St. Pete Yacht Club or visit The Pier to shop or dine & enjoy the stunning vistas of Tampa Bay by day or evening light. One of the best aspects of the area is the diversity of its 26 communities. The Grand Central District is quickly becoming a predominately gay and gay friendly business district that has many galleries, antique stores, unique retailers and an assortment of bars, restaurants and coffee shops. The District presents the annual pride celebration “Pride in Paradise”, the culmination of a month-long slate of events that includes community outreach parties, an antique car show, cultural exhibitions and art auctions.
