Welcome...

Greetings...

from the Mayor Dear Friends: Our country certainly has come a long way in the more than 40 years since Stonewall. Here in New York, last summer’s passage of marriage equality was an especially historic triumph, and we remain determined to lead on the issues that matter most to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community and their families. That is why, in partnership with our city’s official marketing and tourism organization, NYC & Company, we are offering LGBT wedding packages as part of NYC I Do. No place is more welcoming to all people, and all loving couples, than New York. We take great pride in this openness, and during your stay with us, we hope you take the opportunity to experience everything our great city has to offer. The views of the Manhattan skyline aboard the Staten Island Ferry are stunning, and from Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx to the thriving World Trade Center site, we are certain you will find something fun and interesting to do during your stay in the five boroughs. We hope you enjoy your time here, and look forward to welcoming you back soon! Sincerely,

from the President From its beginnings as a Dutch trading post to its current status as the wealthiest of the North American metropolises, New York has always attracted entrepreneurial and globally-minded individuals. Today LGBT professionals and business owners are key players in providing the services, thought capital and sheer manpower that fuel the city's continued growth and development. As the founding President of NGLCCNY, Metro New York's affiliate of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, I am proud to represent the voices of hundreds of LGBT-owned businesses and fair-minded corporations committed to equality. Join us at our M3: Members' Monthly Mixer, an Industry Council Event or an educational workshop to uncover valuable business development opportunities and meet other successful professionals. NGLCCNY is your Chamber. Whether you are a visitor or resident, I encourage you to participate in our activities and search our Business Directory at www.nglccny.org for whatever product or service you are seeking during your time in our city. By patronizing the establishments in this New York City FunMap and those listed at www.nglccny.org, you are strengthening the LGBT community and furthering Equality for All…one dollar at a time. On behalf of the business members and corporate partners of NGLCCNY, Welcome to New York!

Michael R. Bloomberg Mayor

Richard Oceguera President, National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce NY (NGLCCNY)

f you want to be where the gays are, Seventh & Eighth Avenues in Chelsea and Ninth Ave. in Hell’s Kitchen are the two gayest dining strips with numerous eateries and a maddening number of choices. A few blocks north on Seventh Ave., Restivo is a traditional Italian restaurant with a cozy bar ( Mention FunMaps for 15% off your bill ). With a menu boasting Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, Alpha Fusion is another popular spot with reasonable prices and delectable dishes. When you are in the mood for a modern French bistro serving artfully prepared and presented nouvelle cuisine then, by all means you should head to La Silhouette, in Hell’s Kitchen! Just off Eighth Ave., Sueños is a creatively festive hideaway serving tasty Mexican dishes prepared by chef Sue Torres. Dave & Buster’s - A fun-filled place to grab a burger and try your luck at the machines. Check out El Cid, known for tapas and tasty drinks, their specialty. In the 40s and 50s along Ninth Ave. you’ll find a high concentration of restaurants popular with gay diners. 44 SW Ristorante & Martini Bar is the oldest Italian restaurant in the neighborhood.
