he mere mention of Palm Springs conjures visions of endless summer days and starlit summer nights. Since the 1930’s, the city has been the playground of choice for Hollywood stars, movie moguls and even Presidents. And why not! Few places on earth can compete with Palm Springs when it comes to the perennially warm weather that averages 350 days of brilliant sunshine, lush vegetation, a totally relaxed atmosphere, worldclass dining, shopping, golf and tennis. Palm Springs is a captivating combination of desert and mountains, live entertainment and year-round outdoor recreation. The desert has been a favorite destination for gay and lesbian visitors from around the world since the 1970s. Much of the area has grown and flourished in the hands of the GLBT community and today these same neighborhoods are host to a variety of wonderful hotels, resorts, inns and beautiful private homes. In recent years Palm Springs has become known as much as a Gay Oasis as a Hollywood playground, having a permanent gay and lesbian population approaching 50%. Visitors have over 40 gay and lesbian resorts from which to choose. Many are clothing optional for those who despise tan lines. Just a short distance from Los Angeles and San Diego, it’s a perfect place for relaxation and a break from the fast-pace of the larger cities. Since sunshine is almost always guaranteed, there really isn’t a bad time to visit Palm Springs. If the weather hasn’t persuaded you, certainly the resorts, restaurants, attractions, shopping and nightlife, present a rather convincing argument. This is truly a city of excitement and entertainment. The possibilities for a great time are endless.

If you’ve arrived in Palm Springs, you’re already in the mood for a wonderful, warm, relaxing vacation – there is no better place to unwind and enjoy what life has to offer than in this desert getaway. Waking up in the morning to breathtaking mountain views, hiking in the pristine Indian Canyons, or floating lazily in a sunny swimming pool can bring you back to the finer moments of life. Of course, its not all R&R – there is vintage shopping, alfresco restaurants, and hotspots at night to be explored! If you haven’t yet arrived, take a close look at the inns, resorts, hotels and vacation homes – picking out a place to stay in Palm Springs is half the fun. Over 25 gay and lesbian resorts are waiting to welcome you. From historic properties to mid-century gems, to Mediterranean inspired villas, all are warm, inviting and unique. Whether you are coming to enjoy one of our many LGBT events or just for a getaway with friends or family, we are delighted that you’ve chosen to join us in sunny Palm Springs. With warm regards,

Mary Jo Ginther Director, Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism

A Letter... from the NGLCC Dear Friend: Greetings from the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce® (NGLCC)! Let us be among the first to welcome you to Palm Springs. As the national business voice of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, we are excited to have you visiting an area which is home to one of our affiliates, The Desert Business Alliance. We encourage you to show your support of our community by stopping in at any of the many LGBT owned or friendly establishments in the city. The Palm Springs area is rich with opportunity for LGBT business and recreation. We hope that you enjoy your stay and understand why we take such pride in our member businesses and local chamber affiliates. At the NGLCC we believe that a strong economic infrastructure will speak volumes in our quest for equality; by frequenting LGBT-owned establishments you are building stronger businesses and helping us make our case from Washington, DC to Wall Street and down Main Street, USA. For more information about the NGLCC and the work we are doing on behalf of the national LGBT business community, please visit us at www.nglcc.org. Sincerely,
