editor’s note MY PICK
share our experiences
Things we hate to admit about ourselves ecently I had an enlightening talk with a therapist while following up a story, that there are a lot of things that we hate to admit about ourselves. Guess this might hold true more for guys than girls but it’s true nevertheless. Top of the list is doing nothing after work. Countless hours are been spend either browsing random stuff on the internet or channel surfing. The next one is admitting that most of the clothes that you wear or at least the best looking of the lot is picked up by your wife, girlfriend or mother. The third one is not travelling enough. Commuting and spending time in different hotel rooms during work related travel does not count, rather actually travelling to explore. The next one on the list is to admit that we can’t actually afford the finer things in life, but will buy it with a credit card or loan. Bringing up the rear quite admirably is the fact that we are not really sure where we are in life, rather it’s just about floating with the flow.

Are you afraid of being stereotyped? Of course, every actor is intimidated of being stereotyped but it’s all about the decisions that we make. It is said that the first movie selects us and the rest we have to choose and down the road we may have to do that first character again but we can try to bring down the character to a completely new perspective and mark our novelty. .
The one destination you wish to travel with your family. The one place I will go with my family will be Nagpur where I grew up. How was the experience of playing a role of a cricketer in the movie 1983? The movie brings back many nostalgic incidents of playing cricket in the fields wearing lungi with the bad made out of wood. I think in India more than 99 % of people are cricket followers, and so we can relate many of its scenes to our lives with its inspiring theme. In short, the director Abrid Shine has captures an 83’s village in a new generation perspective. In your opinion which is more glamourous? Cricket of film? I think both are equally glamorous but considering the last 5 years I think the cricket is leading. FWD photo-shoot was a relatively new experience for me and to be the cover model for a leading magazine like FWD is an aspiration for everyone including me. Moreover, thanks to the photographer Jinson for his brilliant photography skills which have brought out an exceptional output. I have heard a lot about this photo-shoot before for its unique makeover session.Creating a completely new panache out of the familiar faces is certainly a novel concept. And they have put in a lot of effort in figuring out the best styling based on our looks. Even while choosing the location, they have been very selective A guilty pleasure... In free time, I prefer sleeping. It is hard for me not to sleep. Apart from my sleeping hours I will lose myself daydreaming which can encom-
passa loving memory from childhood or an incident you wish to forget. Your message to the aspirants What I wish to convey to the youth is that downfalls are temporary setbacks. There is no consistency for any state in human life. We just have to be persistent with a hardworking mentality and discipline, which makes everything fall back into the right track. You are known as Anirudh in Kollywood...why a name change? Most of the people in the Tamil industry found it difficult to pronounce as it is a typical Malayali name. In many situations I found people struggling to remember my name. So I decided for a change of name. Anirudh is more common and of course can be easily recollected. What’s more important to you; box-office success or critical acclaim? While taking up film as our career we should accept both commercial and critically acclaimed movies. But in my opinion people are seeking an escape from this busy world and they prefer something relaxing and entertaining. Due to the same reason commercial movies hit the box office and considering my career growth commercial movies are my top preference. One thing you will never do onscreen?
A sensual scene can be the most uncomfortable scene for me to act out. I will definitely do villain roles but a sensual content can be a major setback, which might even lead me to back out from the movie. Do you relate to any character that you have played onscreen? The character Unnikesavan from my first movie ‘Mayookam’ is something close to my heart as I could relate that particular character with my own life. My debutant movie was not a boxoffice success and it was not a setback for me The first few years of my career there had been a lot of failures which I believe happened for a reason because these failures had fortified me to develop my acting career. Hariharan sir had helped me through out to mold an actor out of me. Later on director VKP had given me a chance in Karmayogi, which was again a critically acclaimed movie. However, it paved the way for my opportunity in Trivandrum Lodge which was a stepping-stone in my career, How important is a solo release for you? For me I don’t consider lead roles essential because acting is my passion and as long as you love what you are doing it won’t create much of a difference considering the roles that you do. My idea is to is to do as much of movies you can irrespective of the role.

Interview Shine Bhaskaran
On a positive note Shine T. Bhaskaran, is the 69th International President of Junior Chamber International. It is the first time a Malayalee has reached the apex position of JCI
Excerpts You joined JCI Triprayar in 1999, now after over a decade, what are the changes the organization has come about? Over the last decade the core philosophy remains the same and only the strategies evolve over time. Even today, the basic objective stands as, giving developmental objectives to young people to create positive change. Earlier importance of leadership development and self-improvement among the members has been now shifted to groom them as more active citizens of the world. JCI became a partner of UN Millennium Development Goals in 2000 and has become more focused in undertaking the projects world over. Training area has remained a very strong part of the organization always. Recently, we started giving more thrust to update skills of the existing trainers and their evaluation. JCI has decided to put more efforts in its branding during the last decade and it has a common theme

DECEMBER 2013
As the International President of JCI what is your vision? To position JCI as an organization that unites all sectors of the society to create a sustainable impact. all over the world ‘Be Better’. Even JCI logo and title have been changed and it has been given more prominence to use and spread them worldwide. So what I feel is that JCI has grown more as a powerful brand, undertaking more number of common projects all across the globe since the beginning of the new millennium As an organization for youth empowerment, tell us what are the challenges faced by young people today? In my view lack of leadership, focus and responsibility are the main challenges faced by young people today. Among these, I believe lack of responsibility is the crucial one. Today, the youngsters are not actively and zealously involving in the affairs and problems of the society they live in. This is a big challenge and also a critical social issue. We are bound to deal with and indulge in our society. JCI inculcate in its members, the social responsibility they require in their own communi-
ty and also to this world. How do you encourage young minds to join JCI? The core philosophy of JCI is to inspire confidence, unite communities, enhance equal opportunities, establish justice, embrace cultural diversity, and create sustainable impact. This philosophy attracts and encourages young minds to join JCI. We provide a platform for youngsters, where they can practically develop their talents to face the challenges of the world and also to fulfill their responsibilities. JCI’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons program that recognizes 10 young people across the globe for their outstanding contributions in different fields is a unique project that encourages individuals to excel more. During the official visits I am planning to have special interactive face-to-face discussions with members of various youth organizations and youngsters and I am sure I can encourage them to join
Quick Read Junior Chamber International (JCI), founded by Henry Giessenbierin St Louis, USA in 1915 and in India it was first established in Calcutta in 1949. JCI is a membership-based non-profit organization of young and active citizens. JCI. I have already decided to launch a new recognition program to our JCI members and they will be motivated to attract new members. Can you please tell us more about your maxim for this year ‘Unite to Impact’... We cannot expect the government or the business houses to provide solutions to all the challenges we face in society today. But, we hope with the maxim ‘Unite to Impact’, JCI members, can bring all these sectors of people under one umbrella and provide a sustainable impact to all the challenges. JCI members are the young active citizens of this world, who have the potential and energy to lead the world, to
peace and prosperity, as they have been exercising since its foundation. As the International President of JCI what is your vision? My vision is to position JCI as an organization that unites all sectors of the society to create a sustainable impact and to make sure those youngsters all around the globe contribute to the advancement of humanity. What are the difference you have seen in JCI India and the others world over? Compared to other countries, in India, female memberships are less and also very few hold major positions. Other difference is in age of the members; the average
membership age is less in other countries compared to the membership age in India. In India members join in their late 20s or 30s as against in other countries they join at the close of their teens. So in our country JCI members have only short period of membership to hold any elected positions. You have been an active member of JCI for a long time, personally how has the organization moulded you? As a normal person I was busy with my academics and after that I was fully involved in my business life. When I joined JCI, it gave me the confidence to be a better person in each walk of my life and thoroughly and positively improved my hidden talents. It
also made me a more socially committed person. You are also the CEO of Hotel Dreamland in your hometown, how do you effectively manage your profession and activities related to JCI? In 2002 when I participated in one of the JCI training programs called ABLE (Academy of Business Leadership and Excellence) I got the message of how effectively we can train our Co-workers to work efficiently without our physical presence. The basic strategy behind that is to develop a system, which will work out all routine functions of the business without our presence. So with that strategy, I am able to manage my profession and my social work simultaneously without any difficulties.

Extremely well decorated space lit with soothing and soft lighting welcomes you to a luxurious experience. Let’s get this straight; this place is not just about foot massages. They have great foot massages along with full body massages, body scrubs, face refreshers ,head massages and a great bridal package
for pampering the bride. The moment you step in the hostess greets you “Sawadee Khap” which means welcome in thai. One of the myths that this spa visit broke for me was that all massages involved oils. The thai massage yoga style does not involve any use of oil, rather the therapists uses their hands, knees and leg to move you into a series of yoga like stretches which helps improve circulation and flexibility. An hour later the end result is a feeling of

A session is around 60 to 90mins in which healing thai herbs are steamed to ease muscular aches, improve lymphatic circulation and detoxify. The wonderful Kanphu balm and aroma oils is massaged in for an overall feeling of warmth and weightlessness. If you are in a hurry or got some time free
before the movie starts do make it a point to try out the Sawdee Express The other massage that caught our fancy is the ‘day after massage’. This is really a good choice for those who suffer from headaches especially the late party kind. Also try out the hot oil head massage which has aromatic oil blend which includes sesame, peppermint, cedar wood and lavender. If you want to kick up the luxury a bit try out Champagne Body Massage which actual uses oil from Champagne in a luscious masque of strawberry, peach and grape extracts. The other pampering body massage is the Rice Bran and Oatmeal Scrub which is recommended for reducing sunspots and hyper pigmentation. These among others are part of the special bridal package developed at Aroma Thai. Make a note to opt for the exclusive oils. The Magic oil here is in such demand that they started selling it for customers. At the end of the service each customer is served Lemon grass tea which adds on to the whole feel good experience.

A cleverly designed sports exhaust system utilizes computer-controlled flaps to allow quiet low-speed operation that won’t offend neighbors and a throaty V8 roar when the car is put through its paces. At low engine speeds, the flaps remain closed, keeping the noise level low. Once the driver starts to accelerate more aggressively,

travel clubs in the country, it is apparent that women want to come out of the conservative social norms and want to experience exotic destinations, adventurous sports without pesky kids and hubbies holding them back. The urban Indian women are educated, employed and does not mind shelling out extra moolah and finding like-minded women for an enriching and wild holiday. Prema Shankar, an avid travel aficionado who left her corporate job to become wanderlust says she feels completely rejuvenated after each trip. Pooja Premkumar another travel enthusiast who shares the same feeling says for her travel is therapeutic as the whole excitement of exploring a new place and meeting new people excites her to travel. Both these women who has travelled alone and along with other women says if the safety aspects are taken it’s always better to move in groups,
as girls-only tours incorporate a variety of elements that are important to women: safety, hotel location, quality and comfort in accommodations, small groups, trip pacing, intimate experiences, the opportunity to meet local people, plus free time for individual exploration and some groups even provide opportunities to have insider experiences in each destination, like cooking a meal with a chef in Japan, making perfume in Provence and attending a Teuscher chocolate workshop in Switzerland . Though all- women travel clubs are common in the west, it started to become a rage in India only in recent years, all thanks to the high disposable income the modern independent women are ready to splurge for exotic holidays. According to a recent study by market research firm IMRB, Women make up 22 % of the workforce and their average salary had doubled in
urban India in the last decade. This has naturally led to the growth of women travellers at 10% to 15 % a year in India. Moreover, a lot of women go for domestic and international
business trips that give them the confidence and zest to travel. Christeena, a marketing professional who got acquainted with travel from a very young age says, she has always nursed the dream to travel the country and beyond. Her work related tours have helped her cover the whole of North-East and South India. Though challenges are many her love for travelling has helped her overcome the challenges, Christeena adds. With so many adventurous, free-spirited women gallivanting around the globe and no-boys-allowed travel companies catering to their valuable women customers I am all set to hit the road.

Any extra buys can be packed into these while you walk about. Try and avoid the little plastic bags that shopkeepers will foist on you. Important documents: Apart from the originals, carry photocopies of important documents like driver’s license, passport
and even credit cards. In the horrible possibility that your wallet or purse is stolen, the copies make it easier to get by. Waist belt: Keep anything valuable in a small bag. Keep passports, money and bank cards in a money belt around your waist. Doorstopper alarm: Buy a doorstopper alarm and push the bottom of it under your door from the inside. If anyone tries to open the door while you’re in the room, a loud alarm will sound. The wedgeshaped stopper will also jam the door, preventing the intruder from opening it. Personal alarm: Carry a personal alarm that goes around your neck or on a keychain. This allows you to easily make noise and indicate that you need help should someone unsavory approach you or try to hurt you.

your accommodation, activities and means of transportation. Anyone with a budget- savvy attitude and a desire to travel can find the following information useful. Do research- Before planning a trip do a proper research on the place to understand the major attractions and the most affordable mode of transport that can take you to the place this can save a lot of money
and time. Travel off seasonWhile planning a trip try to find out the off-season. The rooms will be less expensive and the place less crowded. Save money on airline ticket- Airline ticket prices can vary so much from day to day that you have
to be frequently watching for deals and bargains when they come up. Your airline ticket purchase allows you with the greatest opportunity to save money if done properly. Getting Cash – If you are going out of the country, you might not notice that many exchange centers have very bad exchange rates. Search the internet to find out good places to get cash in the local currency. Travel Light – While travelling make your luggage compact as the airlines charge you more for the extra bags you have and try to keep it all within one bag per person. Shared accommodation–If you are travelling in a group, sharing a room will be cheaper than booking separate rooms. A dorm facility can be a good option. Plan Your Meals – When you reach your destination, plan your meals economically
through choosing affordable places. A good option will be the exploring some of the local delicacies as they are appetizing and affordable at the same time. Pack your snacks- The food from airports or the train station can be expensive and not very exceptional. Brown bag healthy snacks and meals and try to book a hotel room with a
kitchenette, to save on meals. Book a cottage – If you are staying at a place for at least a few days, consider a cottage instead of hotel rooms. They are often are more comfortable with ample facilities and your cost will be cheaper. Avoid local transportation – Upon reaching your destination, walk around and explore the places rather than hiring a car or a taxi. With GPS and a local language dictionary, you are good to go. Try exploring nearby places- An overseas vacation can be expensive and the best way for a getaway is travel around somewhere nearer. You will be surprised to discover an array of places unexplored nearby. Go on a group tour-A package tour can be economical compared to other independent travel options. Basically, the more business you can give them, the better discount they can give you. Opt for Night travelling – If the transportation is going to be long, consider traveling at night. It will save money on accommo-
dation for the night and many hours of time. Beware of deception- Starting with the overcharging taxi driver to the vendor selling a souvenir that actually cost less than what they did demand. People won’t spare an opportunity to take advantage of us. So make sure you do a proper research on the transportation fares and the prices of goods. Bargaining is healthyUnless the price is listed somewhere, you are generally free to try to negotiate a better price. Duty Free – You can take advantage of the duty free shops at airports. They might not be the best deal but if you consider taxes, the place might make it least expensive. Get yourself a prepaid Forex card- Most bank cards add a 3 per cent cost to the exchange rates they get. Avoid this expense through these speciality spending cards. Some banks also offer a back-up card in case you misplace your primary card.

P Mrs. Kala Kishore, kiran & sharan The place is completely free of pollution and the calm and serene atmosphere further pulled us into settling in Sobha. One other feature is that all the necessities come to our doorstep. It can be food items to grocery, the facilities are just a phone call away.
Mr. T.P. Mohanakrishnan & Mrs. Rekha Mohanakrishnan The villas here are spacious and offer ample amount of privacy compared to other villas where there are shared walls and other inconveniences hindering privacy. Another major highlight is that we are living in the vicinity of hospitals, schools, temple, and other transportation facilities making the place even more convenient.
Mr. Lijo Davis Mrs. Minu Lijo & joe The ambience is the highlight of the place. Comparing to other apartments and townships this place is lush with green which makes us feel like home.

day or night, till the historic day when the legend played his 200th Test Match and bid adieu to memorable career spanning 24 years, the RED FM and all of their RJs spoke only about Sachin. Since the beginning of the
campaign, calls were pouring in from our listeners who only wanted to talk about Sachin. The campaign saw a huge participation from our listeners who came to the radio station with refreshments for our RJs and showed solidarity towards the Sachin campaign. The program was kept alive by our RJs who were on air to speak and listen from die-hard Sachin fans between super hit music until they passed on the mike to the next two RJs who took over. Many celebrities shared their experience on air with our RJs including the upcoming star, Dhyan who with much excitement as any other Indian admiring the living legend shared his experiences of meeting Sachin Tendulker in person. With proud faces and heavy hearts the listeners, RJs and the guests encouraged the little master for the feat he was about to
accomplish. That was not all. As a part of the campaign, RED FM Cochin along with FWD Life magazine held a signature campaign at Lulu Mall on November 16th where Sachin fans could write all that they wished about him on a flex board. The wishes poured in from all over who worshipped his sheer perfection and humility that he retained throughout his triumphs. This flex board was dedicated to the citizens of Cochin at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium during the inauguration of Sachin Pavilion by the CM and was displayed at the stadium during the ODI cricket match on November 25th. The campaign had given a chance for the people to pay a tribute to the living legend for his wonderful and pristine professional career leaving amazing records that inspired the generations to come.

one can spend hours out here contemplating, perceive things around and just watching the world lapse. Kashi is distinctive with its array of contemporary art forms that adorn this cafe’s walls making its every nook and corner perched. The place is made rustic by replacing most of the walls with exotic potted plants along with pebbles and neutral colors. The café showcases a sitar performance twice a week making the place more alluring. The art gallery in Kashi Art is a platform for the aspiring artists to showcase and to bring out their works to the
public glare. Artists such as NN Rimzon, Sosa Joseph, Zakki Hussein, Valsan Koorma Kolleri and Anant Joshi and other established artists also display their works here. The place offers simple and natural food. The perfect accompaniment to the variety of freshly made cakes and pies would be their special cup of coffee such as Press Coffee, Espresso, Café Latte or a cup of Masala or Chamomile tea. The cold drinks available here are Limeade, Homemade Iced Tea, Cold Coffee and Pineapple Juice. Limeade is made from freshly squeezed lime and soda sweetened with
narunandi and sugar syrup. The ingredients are fresh and earthy which are ideal to the persona of the place. Kashi Art Café also serves continental breakfast and lunch for which they have fixed daily menus. The choice is normally limited to two items for each meal. The concept of art gallery and cafeteria clubbed together is a relatively new concept in Kerala and has become a sensation among the youngsters, especially the tourists. The contemporary arty ambience that the place offers makes it a distinctive hangout spot.

Feed your no less than three to four hours before your trip begins, to minimize motion sickness. If your pet needs to eat during the duration of the trip, feed it at a rest stop an¬d give it some time to digest. During any trip, it’s important to stop often so your pet can stretch its legs, relieve itself and burn off some excess energy. Great places to have sex other than bedroom
Hot spots to make out
other than Bedroom Has sex in your bedroom become a mundane activity for both of you then it’s time to spice up your sex at some ‘not so common’ places where you and your partner can get nasty. lluring sexual spots are concealed not only in your house but outside as well: like an empty elevator, back of a car, beach at night and list goes on but just make sure you don’t get caught! Couples can also be more adventurous and try out places with a high risk of getting caught but the risk enhances experience and pleasure. So here are a few unorthodox places where you and your partner can turn on the heat.
a
Something new… Bring her to a new destination. You can take your partner to a hotel room and make your day as romantic as possible which you hesitate doing at home with oils, candles and the like. The great thing about getting a room for the night is that you can make the biggest mess and get nasty all night long, without having to worry about the mess the morning after. The best thing to do is plan this kind of evening spontaneously without waiting for a special occasion. Just do it for a change where
114

you and your partner can make love to a new environment.
Get a hot tub. Get a hot tub. You and your partner can lose yourselves into the capaciousness that a hot tub provides remember that your aim here is to make this moment tub-full of memories.
Be a little outrageous Everyone has some sort of sexual fetishes and nothing is more exciting than exploring and finding a new spot but few are brave enough to act on it. Plan a date with your partner. Don’t mention where the date is going to be until you both reach there. Be a little adventurous in your private office or even conference rooms. All the spots are great for forbidden sex, if you’re sure your boss isn’t around.
Take her to the beach Nothing romantic holding hands and a walk through the sea shore. Why not get a little more intimate? Prepare the night; get a bottle of wine, a candle, a blanket, and whatever else you need. Chill out and enjoy what the moment has to offer. Surroundings alone can get her in the mood as the evening progresses.
In a parking lot Cars have always been a popular spot to get audacious. It’s illegal if someone sees you, but otherwise, go for it! We recommend private areas of parking lots at night. If you’re feeling really daring, try it out during the day.
