he young DJ, Jonathan Rozario, a true adherent of his passion and dreams is now a celebrated face of the everyouthful spirit of Kochi. This rising star of the music industry indeed owns a long tale of hard work, determination, faith, and energy. It all began with a craze and love for music, mainly rock and roll, which gradually led to organizing music for birthday parties for friends. It moved on like that till 2008 when DJ Savyo hosted the DJ Hunt where Jonathan's skills were displayed and he ended up as the first runner-up. Nobody expected the extent to which this success would give a new meaning and tag to his life. His intense passion, love and earnest effort blossomed under the light of the appreciation received. Slowly the days turned into hours of research and experimentation, nights into expressions of his love for rhythms and beats, as the freelancing started off. Eventually, the magical ambiance the virtuoso created in every party

got him to explore new dimensions in his career. From the background research to the extensive chemistry in mixing up of music and blending it with the crowd, DJ Jonathan's skills boosted his wide demand and fame. The world often sees the sculpted, ready to view artifacts while the clay had to endure long days of edging and cutting. A lot of effort, hard work, and attention are needed in creating the right ambiance for the right set of people. The need, mood and the requirement of the mass vary and nobody comes into a party with an urge to dance from the very first song, wherein the success of the DJ comes into play. Being in the limelight at a very tender age is one of the happiest things in life, (he giggles). But, it’s not an easy task for a youth where the level of exertion is beyond words. He always makes sure he warms up with the mass from the start itself and hardly uses a mic to bring in the party mood. The lightings he cherry-picks may be yet another forte of Jonathan's. He
shuns spotlights and prefers a dark room with minimal colors to take the crowd to a different reality where one is not being judged or watched, and can let down their hair with ease. What always matters is how far you dream and envisage your own future. The city will soon have more reasons to be proud of Jonathan as he is planning ahead to advance his career by setting up a company. His band will focus on Carnatic and pop to create beats that will have you wanting more. Kochi is football crazy and we have proven this to the world with the record breaking support we gave Kerala Blasters at the JNI Stadium, Kaloor. Even the Indian National Blind Football team has its roots in Kochi! Supporting the big, professional players who stand out in their team colors and excite us with every pass is one thing. Playing your own game with friends, with professional kits goes beyond Fantasy Football. O Jogo Bonito, one of India’s first amateur football leagues was kick started in Kochi. Where regular

Thommachans and Joikuttans play for the love of the game. OJB as it is popularly known, will be conducting its sixth season in a bigger and bolder way at Ambedkar Stadium from April 27 to May 1st. The tournament will donate its proceedings to the SRVC (Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged) blind football initiative from Kochi which has produced national and state players. Blind Football is a 5-a-side game played on a futsal size ground with side kick boards on the long sides with a ball having bells inside. The Origins O Jogo Bonito 6 will have 35 teams that will fight their way to win the trophy and the pride of being the champions of Kochi. Sreenath tells us about how his friend Noel Ben of Sportico Ventures started the tournament. They used to be football crazy kids who used to land up at Regional Sports Centre (RSC) everyday. Soon teams were formed and matches were planned. Jogo Bonito is the Spanish term used to describe the beautiful game. Given the style of youngsters 'Joga today?' was the SMS that circulated daily around the circle. As these footballers aged 12 to 44 kept showing up every day at the grounds as early as 5am, Noel recognized their passion and the need for a league of their own. So these ordinary gentlemen came together for an extraordinary affair. The OJB tournaments have been watched by many celebrities, including superstar Mamootty.

The Evolution With certified referees, professional football kits for each team, and a gala event with stalls, OJB became a festival. A place where families came to support their kin, friends came to cheer and lovers of football could enjoy the game and play their hearts out like their idols. That is how Barca and Bayern along with Manchester United came to play in Kochi. Naming their teams after the big guys, football became something more than the game. Friendships were formed, and they started training, playing and even hanging out together. OJB 6 will have around 35 teams for this season. The finale itself will be an intense affair and the organizers are really excited. Rumor has it that big stars will be at the game and people have already started guessing. Amala Paul? Shriya Saran who is the face for the SRVC blind football initiative? The SRVC blind team is equally enthusiastic about being part of a big football movement in Kochi and will hold their own national tournament at the same time. A therapist at a leading five star hotel, How does someone who can’t see play football? Though it may baffle you, Aneesh asks why not. They hone their other skills like listening, at the SRVC training sessions and take part in international events. Aneesh hopes that more visually challenged people will take up sports and outgrow their fear of getting injured. Aneesh says his experience abroad has exposed him to better systems and laws to make the city disabled friendly. Local initiatives such as these keep Kochi buzzing and is a great experience for people to reach out. Adventure Carnival
T
he first of its kind event in Kerala, the Chakravyuh Challenge is an adventure carnival with a one- of- itskind obstacle course race at its core. Named after the near-invincible battle formation in Indian mythology, the Chrakravyuh aims to test the competitors' agility, bravery and problem solving capability by pitting them against specially designed obstacles comprised of slush, water, ropes, inclined slopes, team building exercises, fun mazes and more. The maiden edition of the Chakravyuh Challenge would be held on the 30th of April and 1st of May 2016, along Kerala’s pristine backwaters near Vyttila in Kochi. The race is open to both men and women. Since registrations began early in February this year, over 700 participants have signed up for the event. Apart from local participants, corporates from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad form a key part of this demographic.

8 Reasons to Love the Music of When Chai Met Toast Home grow indie rock band, on making people happy in Kochi and beyond.

ou may not have heard of them, but once you do, then there is no way that you will forget them. When Chai Met Toast, they ‘jam’med. The joke was so bad that this band from the land of coconuts laughed helplessly, literally. If your sense of humor meets another kindred soul, you can only imagine what transpires . Chatting with the band, sans chai or toast, was refreshing as my cold drink in the sweltering summer day in Kochi. So when did chai meet toast? The lore is so urban that you would not be surprised at all. A chance meeting and jamming session in Fort Kochi between two musically inclined guys lead to the creation of When Chai Met Toast. A random name that stuck. But what will surprise you is the talent and knowledge that Ashwin Gopakumar (vocals) and Achyuth Jaigopal (strings, backing vocals) have to create music that is not just good, but as they say; happy. The two person band has grown with the addition of Palee Francis (Keyboard), Pai Sailesh (Drums), Kishan (manager) and other friends who are happy to be playing with them. When Chai Met Toast is just a year old and they have already matured in their music. Their second concert in Kochi was a showcase of that. Raghu Dixit forced Achyuth to buy a banjo and the band claims that it has really changed their sound. Playing over 3 gigs a month, they are already drawing crowds of over 150 people. When Chai Met Toast will be releasing their EP in a couple of months and also will

be shooting an original video. So why does WtzupCity love When Chai Met Toast? 1. First of all, the Happy vibe – if Pharrell sang it, these guys do it. With their toe tapping numbers, your heart takes little leaps of glee, relive their ‘Beautiful World’ or take a tour with ‘Fireflies’ and ‘Superman.’ After all, it is all about the ‘Joy of Little Things.’ 2. Loveable lyrics – who hasn’t attended a concert without learning the set list? With When Chai Met Toast, you would love to follow their easy lyrics even if you don’t learn it before hand, after all great messages have to be told simply. 3. They listen to other people – in all sense of the phrase. Their playlist includes Mumford and Sons (a concert they would do anything to attend), Coldplay (perfect for this hot summer), and how can you not swoon when they show you pictures with the great Rodrigo y Gabriela? We shared bands, songs and other music gyaan that will fill my week with delightful earworms. 4. The band itself! Achyuth Jaigopal is a classically trained guitarist who tours with the Raghu Dixit Project and has earned praises from the man himself. Mr.Toast has not even cleaned the dirt of shoes he wore at the Glastonbury with RDP. He is soft spoken and way too mature for his extremely young age. Achyuth is a Kochiite who released his debut
instrumental album last year. Mr. Chai turns out to be the high on life , while Ashwin Gopakumar, a metal head with a soft center. With his passion for sound (how else would one describe a metal head) that’s oddly paired with with an engineering degree and shunning a shiny corporate job, Ashwin believes in connecting with the audience and will have you laughing in no time. 5. Great covers – they listen and play well, looks like they got it all ‘covered’. Check out their covers of Scooby Doo and I Will Wait on their YouTube channel. 6. Freebies at concerts – Ashwin is a die hard fan of home made goodies. When Chai Met Toast gives out DIY kits which includes branded tea bags for your Chai break. Come on, don’t deny that you like free stuff, especially ones of the good kind. 7. Music for movies – Achyuth was approached to make the music for Humans of Someone. The experience was nothing like before says he. And the band was asked by Shaan Rahman to contribute to Jacobinte Swargya Rajyam. They were worried that movie music would be a task but were surprised by how much fun they had making the songs. So watch out for their tunes in the latest Nivin Pauly blockbuster. 8. They laughed at our joke – you really do need a great sense of humor to put up with the likes of us. And we had such a great time hanging out with these guys. Their concert at JTPAC showed Kochi's love for the band.

andruff is nothing but excessive scaling of dead cells of the skin of the scalp. As you are aware, your body undergoes constant but gradual renewal every 24 hours. Internal causes: Hormonal imbalance, Poor Health, Allergic Hypersensitive,Emotional Stress, Excessive consumption of fat, starch, sugar, Improper Nutrition, Hereditary Predisposition External causes: Infection (Pityrosporum Ovale or Malassezia Globosa) Improper use of hair products, Infrequent shampooing of hair or inadequate rinsing. Poor Hygiene. Excessive junk food. Though Dandruff is known for dry scalp, people with oily scalp tend to suffer the most. Diagnosis of dandruff: Your doctor or hair stylist will be able to evaluate your history and the exact diagnosis could be arrived at by a close clinical examination. Treatment of dandruff: The challenge of treating dandruff lies in the successful control of its relapse. It is not very difficult to treat dandruff for once. However, it is not easy to treat dandruff forever! The treatment for dandruff should aim at controlling the underlying causing factors as well as the symptoms.

he India versus Turkmenistan FIFA world cup qualifier took place in Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium in Kaloor. This is Turkmenistan's first tour of India, and the second FIFA event to take place in Kochi. The game was looked forward to with much expectation. The opening goal by Sandhesh Jhingan wasn't enough to thwart the attack of the Turkmenistan squad, who won the match with a final scoreline that read 2-1. Football fans and supporters turned up to cheer the national team, including ex-footballer IM Vijayan and Kerala Blaster's coach Terry Phelan.
