FOOD wtzup.in/HEALTH
THE GOOD , THE BAD, THE UGLY By Leane Fernandes
7 SUPER FOODS TO
FIGHT FAT 1) WHOLE GRAINS: Whole grains and unrefined foods should be your best friend. Your body has to work harder to break them down than processed ones, so you’re zapping more calories and storing less as fat. This in turn will increase your metabolism. 2) GREEN TEA: This packs antioxidants called catechins, which stimulate your nervous system
and increase fat-burning. Studies suggest that drinking green tea can help you drop pounds, trim your waist and add glow to your face. 3) BROCCOLI: Broccoli’s noteworthy nutrients include vitamin C, vitamin A (mostly as betacarotene), folic acid, calcium, and fiber. Half of its fiber is insoluble and half is soluble, helping to meet your needs for both types of fiber. Broccoli
6 provides a health bonus in the form of protective substances that may shield you from disease. 4) EGGS: An egg is not only a nutritional powerhouse; it’s also loaded with protein that satisfies daily body needs. It is a perfect combination of amino acids making it a complete protein source. Eggs are packed with a variety of nutrients including protein, zinc, iron and vitamins A, D, E and B12. 5) OILY FISH: Fatty acids found in fish are known to slow ageing in the human brain. It also reduces conditions such as heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. The fatty acids in fish provide healthy fats which enhance fat loss. 6) RED RADISH: These brightly colored vegetables are packed with potassium, folic acid, antioxidants, and sulfur compounds that aid digestion. One serving daily clears toxins pre laid in the liver and makes one feel light. 7) BEANS: High in resistant starch and fiber, beans force your system to use extra energy (as in calories) to break them down.
JUNE END LULU MALL
wtzup.in/HEALTH
AVOID JUNK FOOD 1) Burgers: Burgers contain almost half your daily upper limit of fat and sodium which adds to excess load on the kidneys to process and clear them. 2) Road-side Bhajias: This appetizer is meant to be shared, but even onequarter of the dish delivers an entire day’s limit for fat. During this monsoon, people are seen gorging on a plate full even daily. 3) Potato chips: The calorie count is moderate but chances are you’ll eat more than a serving, as most packages are larger than one serving. They also have excess salt and preservatives for
7 higher preservation. 4) Indian snacks: Fats and carbohydrates combined make for a perfectly deadly combination for the body. If you are combining aloo bhujia with tea, you get high doses of salt and trans-fats along with a high amount of calories. 5) Carbonated drinks: All carbonated drinks contain sugar base and phosphoric acid. Any additional sugar will make one fat. The acids present will reduce calcium levels and thus make bones weak. 6) Pizza: By far, pizzas were considered to be healthy compared to the other junk foods. They have low levels of salt and fats; levels of trans fats were also low. Pizza made with maida and excess cheese are more harmful than others.
REASONS TO DRINK MORE WATER
Water is essential for the functioning of every single cell and organ system in the human body. Water is essential for the efficient elimination of waste products through the kidneys. Water serves as a lubricant: water forms the fluids surrounding joints and bones, providing cushioning for the joints. Water prevents and alleviates constipation (by moving food through the intestines and eliminating waste products) Water helps the body to absorb nutrients in the intestines. Water plays a role in regulating metabolism. Water plays a role in the prevention of disease. Drinking adequate amounts of water can reduce the risk of colon and bladder cancer significantly and some studies have suggested that water may also decrease the risk of breast cancer. Water helps to maintain the muscle tone and lubricate the joints, helping to reduce muscle fatigue and soreness during exercise.

Would you dare for an ‘After Sex Selfie’?
S
ex might not be a taboo in 2014, but it is still an intimate form of action that doesn’t need to be shared with other people who are not involved. There’s a new ‘Selfie’ trend every week and with each new trend things are getting
more culturally devastating. The most private moment between couples are out there for the world to see in the World Wide Web, making the rounds on social media networks like Instagram and Twitter. The word ‘Selfie’ has been going in around for some time, but the
DADDY’S DAY OUT 15th June is FATHER’S DAY. This is the day to make your DAD realize how important he is for you. Share with him the moments you felt that he is THE BEST DAD on Earth!!! Also make him thank his DAD for being there for him. DO THE UNEXPECTED Write your dad a thank-you card – not for the gifts, but just for being there for you. Get him the newspaper. Have a family breakfast with your Dad’s favorite dishes. Select his clothes for the day. Sit up for his advice.
MAKE THE DAY MEMORABLE Plan his Sunday. Make him realize how important he is to you by recollecting a past event in your life; which he hasn’t taken seriously. Take him to the golf course in Kochi. Drive to Fort Kochi or Vypin for fishing. Visit your Dad’s ancestral home or a nearby place which will help him in going back to his childhood and ask him to share his memories with you. Make a photo collage for your Dad. Finally though you have been dreading it, teach him FACEBOOK and WHATSAPP!!!

latest buzz word is “After Sex Selfie”. Filming or photographing a picture of post-coital bliss on social media is the latest fad. The ‘After Sex Selfies’ page that was launched only a couple of months ago has already amassed a quarter of a million followers, but at the cost of privacy and decency. It has now become a widespread practice, a growing number of men and women are happily posting ‘sex selfies’ soon after engaging in the real act, with full knowledge that they can and will be searched by anonymous eyes. A survey done by AshleyMadison.com, the world’s largest extra-marital dating site says that when it comes to posting ‘after- sex- selfie’ 71 per cent of British male respondents and 69 percent of women have taken a ‘sex selfie’ - compared with 60.19 percent and 51.6 per cent globally, respectively. These images show everything from people lying in bed together to one night stands with a stranger. Clearly, it is a way of pushing digital boundaries, the shallowest gesture of modern life serving no other purpose than self-gratification. According to CNET, there have been almost 3,000 such pictures so far on the site, with people fully clothed and snuggled up to their partner. Now, trends like these that catch up quickly would also perish as fast as they began. But on the other side let us be warned about another Selfie replacing the current one.
