We surveyed 22 teachers from Poland and 41 from Cyprus. The question: ‘Do you know the definition of the word robotics’ was answered ‘yes’ by 20 Polish teachers and 31 Cypriot teachers. When asked about the source of their knowledge on this subject, the teachers answered similarly. However, the Polish teachers chose TV as the most frequent source while the Cypriot teachers stated more kinds of sources. Both Polish and Cypriot teachers indicated a wide variety of fields in which robots are applicable. They assessed their skills in building with LEGO bricks as good or very good. However, the skills of building simple machines and constructing with Lego bricks were assessed weaker by them. Computer programming is also not a strong point of both Polish and Cypriot teachers. The results of the survey reveal that most of the teachers cannot program robots. Polish and Cypriots teachers state they are able to cooperate in a team and solve problems very well. They also cope with using computers well. The teachers claim their very good ability to follow specific instructions to achieve a particular goal. Both Polish and Cypriot teachers are interested in enriching their knowledge of robotics. Survey results shows the similar level of knowledge and skills of Polish and Cypriot teachers. Strong points of the teachers are teamwork, following instructions and using computers. They have basic knowledge about robots and their usage in different areas of life. The survey revealed the lack of the teachers’ knowledge and skills of using Lego to construct and program robots but confirmed their interest in the topic in order to improve their knowledge and sills.
