COMENUS PROJECT „The world of myth and mystery” Poland – Cyprus 2012-2014
About the project‌ ,,The World Of Myth and Mystery project concerned paranormal phenomena, mysterious stories and myths. Carrying out the tasks within the project required the students to demonstrate a creative approach to undertaken activities. Getting to know new paranormal terms, various paranormal stories, and discovering mysterious legends and myths allowed the students not only to gain new information, but also affected their spiritual development. Touching on paranormal or metaphysical topics required the analysis of the phenomena from the surrounding world and made the students to look for information and curiosities in different written and oral sources. Reffering to folk beliefs and traditions resulted in the strengthening of intergenerational bond and the exchange of experiences with the partner school enabled us to notice the universality of certain phenomena, norms and values. Knowledge about different religions and faiths, developing attitudes of tolerance, elimination of attitudes of racism and xenophobia were the main issues discussed during the lessons of Religious Studies.
The project also stimulated students to search for another phenomena in their neighbourhoods, and the fascination with the mysteries resulted in arousing students’ interest in literature, Art, film, nature, religion, philosophy or technology. During the implementation of the project, the students gained different kinds of information about unusual places, events and facts in their countries and in the world. They created numerous multimedia presentations, videos, digital posters, comics, puzzles, online albums, mental maps, quizzes, etc.
At the beginning we presented our schools and groups taking part in the project.

Parapsychology To assess the youth’s and adults’ knowledge and attitudes towards parapsychology and paranormal phenomena, online surveys were conducted among students and teachers. The results were worked out and placed in Twinspace and project website.
We got to know a new area of knowledge which is parapsychology. Getting to know its secrets gave us a lot of satisfaction.
Workshops with a parapsychologist The most exciting event during the project was the workshop with a parapsychologist – Mr Marek Szwedowski during which we deepened our knowledge of parapsychology. We had the opportunity to listen to some ‘voices from the afterlife’, what inspired the students and their families to delve into transcommunication - that is communication with the dead. Extraordinary experience was also being in a state of relaxation - kind of hypnosis, during which we felt, despite being in the classroom, that we touch real objects, hear real sounds and experience real adventures.

RELIGIONS We deepened our knowledge of different religions and beliefs. We had discussions concerning life after death and reincarnation.
FOLK TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS Learning about different folk beliefs, comparing Polish and Cypriot traditions enabled us to deepen our knowledge and understand the partner’s culture better.
Mysterious places in our countries We gained a lot of interesting information about unusual places, events and facts in our countries. We tried to find the explanations of mysteries in the history of our countries and regions by discovering local legends and traditions. Curiosity of the world and shaping sensitivity to what is uncommon and "atypical" allowed us to discover and develop new skills.
MYSTERIOUS PLACES AND EVENTS - REPORTAGES We incorporated the roles of reporters, detectives, "seekers of the truth", and thanks to applying various research methods, we went beyond the classroom and school schemes. Touching on paranormal or metaphysical themes required the analysis of the phenomena of the surrounding world. We conducted interviews with eye witnesses of mysterious events, collected information from the interviews with senior representatives of our families and prepared reportages, what made our project very innovative.
