AFRICAN WILD DOG My favourite endangered animal is the African Wild Dog. They live in the forest habitat, grasslands, deserts in the Coastal East Africa. They are 30 inches high, and they weigh 40-56 pounds. They are predators that hunt medium-sized ruminants, such as gazelles. Wild dogs are social and they live in groups of ten individuals.


They are endangered because of hunting and loss of habitat. Today there are 6,600 African Wild Dogs.

ARTIC WOLF My favourite endangered animal is the Artic Wolf, Canis Lupus

Arctos. They live in the Arctic regions of North America and Greenland. They generally are smaller than Grey Wolves, measuring around 3 to 6 feet (0.9 to 1.8 metres) long including the tail. They hunt animals to eat. Artic Wolves are carnivorous hunters They are endangered because of climate change and loss of habitat.

BLACK RHINO My favourite endangered animal is the Black Rhino. They live in Deserts, Grasslands in Namibia, Coastal East Africa. Black rhinos have two horns, and occasionally a third small posterior horn. They eat grass and bush. They are endangered because of loss of habitat, hunting and poaching.


There are fewer than 5,000 Black Rhinos today.

ELEPHANTS The elephants are large mammals of the family Elephantidae. Elephants live in the Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Male African elephants are the largest terrestrial animals and can reach height of 4m (13 ft.) and weight 7,000kg (15,000 lb.). Elephants have 26 teeth, big ears, and 2.5cm skin. FOREST ELEPHANT Forest Elephants are my favourite endangered animals. They are smaller and darker than the rest of the elephants. They are 2.5m high and they weigh 2.7 tonnes. They commonly eat leaves, fruit and bark, and occasionally they lick minerals. They are endangered because of poaching, loss of habitat and human-elephant conflict.

GIANT TORTOISE The Giant Tortoises live in Aldabara and Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. They are giant and hard. Their legs are very big. They are reptiles. They eat grass. They are endangered because of introduced species to the islands, such as dogs and cats which prey on young tortoises and animals that compete for vegetation. Today there are 100,000 Giant Tortoises.

GREAT WHITE SHARK My favourite endangered animal is the Great White Shark. They live in oceans, Gulf of California, Southern Chile, the Galapagos, and East Africa. The Great White Sharks have 300 teeth. They are the most dangerous animals. They swallow the food. They eat from small fish, such as halibut, to large seals and dolphins. They are endangered because of hunting. There are 3,500 specimens in the world.

GREEN TURTLE The Green Turtle is one of the largest sea turtles and the only herbivore among the different species. Green turtles in fact named for the greenish colour of their cartilage fat, not their shells. In the Eastern Pacific, a group of Green Turtles that have darker shells are called black turtles by the local community. Green turtles are found mainly in subtropical waters. Now they are in danger because of loss of habitat. Sea turtles are dependent of nesting. Uncontrolled coastal development, vehicle traffic and other human activities have directly destroyed or disturbed the nesting. Green turtle feeding grounds such as seagrass beds are in risk because coastal development that leads them to pollution.

JAPANESE OTTER They live in Japan. They have got long tooth and nails, they are similar to prairie dog. They have got little ears, they are about 65 or 80cm long. Their tail is about 45 or 50 cm long. Their fur is brown, they have got long whiskers. The only come out of his lair at night in search of food. They like swimming, They eat fish and plants.


The Japanese Otter is endangered because of loss of habitat and pollution.

THE LION My favourite endangered animal is the Lion. Lions live in jungles in the African Savanna and also in the Indian forests. Lions are like common cats. Like cats, they sleep during the day. Lions eat animals like zebra, gnu, and wild boar. They are so strong that have no natural enemies. The lions are endangered because of pollution, hunting and loss of habitat. Today, the most recent surveys estimate that there are fewer than 30,000 lions living in the wild in Africa today. Some estimates are much lower, putting wild lion populations at as few as 20,000.

CARCHARODON MEGALODON Carcharodon Megalodon is extinct species of sharks that lived approximately 23 to 2.6 million years ago. They lived in the entire world. They were very big animals. They were 20m or 30m long. Meaning “big tooth”, they had got 300 or 500 teeth. The best fossil tooth of C.MEGALODON is in the state of North Carolina. They were one of the biggest and


most powerful predators in vertebrate history. C.megalodon looked like a stockier version of the great white shark Carcharodon carcharias.

POLAR BEAR My favourite endangered animal is the Polar Bear. They live in Polar Regions in the Arctic. The Polar Bears are good swimmers. They eat seals because they need fat to survive. They are endangered because of hunting and poaching. Today there are 22,00031,000 Polar Bears.

RED PANDA Red Pandas are my favourite endangered animals. They live in mountains and trees in China. They are red or black. They measure from 30 cm to 60 cm. Males weigh 4.5 to 6.2 kilograms, females weigh 3 to 4.5 kg. Their tails are long. They eat: fruit, bamboo... They sleep by day and they are awake at night. Red Pandas are endangered because of loss of habitat, poaching and inbreeding. Today there are 10,000 Red Pandas.

SNOW LEOPARD My favourite animal is the Snow Leopard, or Panthera uncia. They live in the mountains of Central and South Asia. They are big cats. They eat meat. They are endangered because of climate change and because they are often killed by local farmers because they prey on sheep, goats, horses, and yaks. Today there are 4,080-6,590 Snow Leopards.

TIGERS Tigers live in the forests of Asia, in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, Indonesia (Sumatra) and Easter Russia. All tigers can become extinct in the wild within the next decade. They are endangered because of poaching, loss of habitat and fragmentation. There are between 3,000 and 3,600 tigers in the world in total.

TIGER SHARK They live in many tropical and temperate waters, and especially around Central Pacific Islands, Caribbean Sea, Africa, China, Hong Kong, India, Australia, and Indonesia. They are over 5m long. The Tiger Sharks are apex predators and they eat anything. These predators swim close inland to eat at night, and during the day swim out into deeper waters. The Tiger Sharks are solitary animals. They are endangered because of fishing. The Tiger Sharks are captured and killed for their fins, flesh, and liver.

VAQUITA They live in the Mexico’s Gulf of California. Vaquitas have a large dark ring around their eyes and dark patches on their lips. They are up to 5 feet long and they weigh up to 120 pounds. Vaquitas eat ocean fish such as Gulf croaker and bronze-striped grunts and squids. Vaquitas, the world´s rarest mammals, are on the edge of extinction. They are endangered because of illegal fishing. There are fewer than 60 individuals.

WHALE My favourite endangered animal is the Whale. They live in Polar Regions in Southern Chile, Arctic, The Galåpagos, Coral Triangle, Gulf of California and Coastal East Africa. Whales are the largest creatures on Earth today. They have not got teeth. For whales food is not only extremely important for their survival, it´s also important for maintaining balance in the oceans ecosystem. They eat plankton. They communicate with complex and mysterious sounds. They are endangered because of climate change, commercial whaling and industry.


Today there are as few as 300 North Atlantic right whales; other species vary: 10,000-90,000.
