In that role, he led an attack on corporate fraud, successfully argued a police conduct case before the U.S. Supreme Court, and organized the U.S. rule of law efforts in Iraq.
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR DON LYLE He earned the PAC’s Coach of the Year award that year. Lyle also directed Grove City to a share of the PAC men’s soccer title in 1996 as Grove City went 16-2. The Wolverines set a school record for victories in a season and won their first ECAC title. Lyle-coached teams also advanced to post-season play in 1976, 1980 and 2000. In 34 years as head coach, he compiled a 277-206-37 record. The College inducted him into its Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame in October 2006. Lyle also started the women’s softball program at Grove City, posting a 91-61 (.599) record from 1980-88 as head coach. Lyle then spent nine years as baseball coach at Grove City. In addition to his academic duties as department chair, Lyle is a professor of physical education. He is also chairman of the Grove City College Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee. A native of Calcutta, Ohio, Lyle earned his bachelor of arts degree from Muskingum College in 1971. He earned his master’s degree in education from Miami of Ohio. Lyle received his doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Lyle and his wife Barbara live in Pine Township. They have three adult children and nine grandchildren.

COACHING STAFF
HEAD COACH CHELLE FUSS The 2014-15 season will be Chelle Fuss' second as Grove City College's head women's basketball coach and her ninth overall season with the program. She accepted the head coaching position in May 2013 after seven seasons as assistant basketball coach and head softball coach at Grove City. This season, Fuss (pronounced "FOOSE") aims to lead Grove City back to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference’s upper echelon. Fuss came to Grove City in 2006 and has been an integral part of the women’s basketball program during that span. She has been heavily involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development and scouting. Three players surpassed the 1,000-point mark during her time as an assistant coach, including Christine Slater, the program’s second leading scorer.
As head softball coach, Fuss reinvigorated the Grove City program in her seven seasons. During that period, the Wolverines rewrote the program’s record book. In 2012, Grove City recorded 19 wins, which marked the team’s highest win total in 14 years. She concluded her softball coaching tenure at Grove City as the program’s all-time wins leader with 102. As a student-athlete at Geneva College, Fuss excelled in both basketball and softball. As a point guard for the basketball team, she accumulated a Geneva-record 567 assists. Her 1,333 career points rank sixth in school history. She earned NCCAA All-America and NAIA All-District honors during her playing career at Geneva. A native of Logan, Ohio, Fuss also received NAIA AllDistrict recognition after all four years of her career in softball. She graduated from Geneva in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in speech and broadcast communications. She then added a master's degree in higher education at Geneva. Fuss holds the rank of assistant professor of physical education at the College. She and her husband Matt have a son, Zane, 16, and a daughter, Logan, 14. They live in Grove City.
ASSISTANT KRISTEN HUGHES-CRAMER A lifelong resident of the Grove City area, 2008 Grove City College graduate Kristen Hughes-Cramer enters her first season as the assistant women’s basketball coach at the College. The College hired Hughes-Cramer in July 2014 as assistant women’s basketball coach, head softball coach and assistant professor of physical edu-
players in recent program annals, Hughes started in both the infield and outfield for the Wolverines. She started 97 career games for the Wolverines and led the team in hitting as a junior with a .378 average. Cramer also led the team in runs, total bases and onbase percentage during that 2007 season, earning Second Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference honors for her efforts. From 2010-14, Hughes-Cramer served as the assistant softball coach at Grove City. She closely worked with Fuss for four seasons and worked with multiple aspects of the program, including outfield development, hitting instruction and defensive positioning. Hughes-Cramer earned Dean's List honors and also landed on the PAC Academic honor roll during her career. Hughes-Cramer graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Spanish in 2008 and completed her master's degree in sports management at nearby Slippery Rock University in 2009. She lives in Grove City with her husband, Mike.
cation and exercise science. Hughes will assist head coach Chelle Fuss in all aspects of the basketball program, including scouting, recruiting, player development and administrative duties. Hughes excelled as a four-year starter in softball for Grove City from 2005 to 2008. One of the most versatile

2014-15 SEASON PREVIEW
Sophomore letterwinner Jackie Stewart is a returning starter at guard for Grove City. led the Wolverines in field goal percentage last year while also ranking second in scoring and rebounding. The 5-10 Erbelding is expected to be a key cog inside for Grove City this year. Galens moved into the starting lineup late in her sophomore season and could emerge as a defensive stopper for the Wolverines. The 5-10 Galens will also be counted on for rebounding and inside scoring this winter. Two sophomore letterwinners return in the backcourt in 5-7 Teresa Dallatore and 5-8 Jackie Stewart. Both players are expected to compete for the starting point guard spot and each will likely play extensively this year. Stewart played in all 26 games last year and made 19 starts while Dallatore made three starts among her 25 appearances. Sophomore forward Eloise Smith will look to break into the frontcourt rotation this season after missing her freshman season due to injury. The 6-0 Smith will provide size and athleticism in the post. Grove City will also look to integrate a quintet of freshmen into its relatively young nucleus of talent.
Sophomore guard Teresa Dallatore played in 25 games as a freshman and will compete for a full-time starting spot this season.

SEASON PREVIEW
Optimism abounds for the Grove City College women's basketball program as the Wolverines enter the 2014-15 season. Second-year head coach Chelle Fuss welcomes back the team's top two leading scorers from last season, along with five other letterwinners. The Wolverines will look to merge that strong core with an influx of talented newcomers as Grove City looks to return to the upper echelon of the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Wolverines feature three seniors on the 2014-15 roster in guards Cayley McClean, Brandy Nickoloff and Kelsey Shirey. Each player is a three-year letterwinner who will likely be an integral part of the Grove City backcourt this season. McClean moved into the starting lineup as a junior last season and has developed into a defensive stopper during her career. She also ranked fourth on the team in scoring last season. Nickoloff has been a part-time starter during her career and likely provide a steadying veteran presence at both ends of the floor. The 5-foot-7 Nickoloff will look to have a greater offensive role this year as well. Shirey led Grove City in scoring last year and earned All-PAC Second Team honors. She is one of the top returning offensive threats in the conference and will be counted on for perimeter scoring. Shirey hit a team-high 40 threepoint goals last season. The Wolverines also return a pair of rangy juniors in forwards Kathryn Erbelding and Natalija Galens. Erbelding

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
THE PRESIDENTS’ ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
PRESIDENTS’ ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
Founded in 1955, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference continues its mission of promoting intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence. Comprised of 10 select private colleges and universities - Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of highpressure intercollegiate athletics. With academics at the center of each member’s philosophy, the PAC is built on the principle that an athletic program is a part of college life, but not an entity in itself. During the 2005-06 academic year, Chatham, Geneva and Saint Vincent all joined the PAC. Chatham competed for PAC championships for the first time during the 200708 academic year. Saint Vincent first competed for conference titles in 201011. Geneva became eligible for conference titles in 201112. The PAC annually crowns champions in 19 sports. AllConference status is awarded in all 19 sports. Head coaches select all-league squads for all team sports, while in individual sports such as cross country and tennis, all-PAC accolades are based upon performances at the conference championships. The PAC annually awards its men’s and women’s AllSports Trophies to the schools which perform best across the board in conference competition. Grove City won the Women’s All-Sports Trophy for the 2013-14 academic year while Washington & Jefferson earned the Men’s All-Sports Trophy. In 2013-14, the league named a conference-record 903 student-athletes to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all participating student-athletes who attain a term grade-point average of 3.60 or above during their semester of competition.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE
PROGRAM HISTORY
PROGRAM HISTORY The date was February 2, 1977. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow for the sixth time in seven years, leaving the nation with six more weeks of winter. But what the famous rodent did not forsee is the successful run that would begin later that night for the Grove City College women’s basketball team. That night, the Grove City College women’s basketball team made its intercollegiate debut with a 61-50 win at Penn State Behrend. Since that historic night in 1977, Grove City has earned over 400 victories, numerous postseason berths and six conference championships. The 1977 team finished 7-4 under head coach Terry Ellis, including a 6-2 record in the Women’s Keystone Conference. Grove City’s season ended with a 60-55 loss to Allegheny in the WKC playoffs, however. That started a run of seven consecutive winning seasons for the Wolverine program. Grove City’s 1978 squad again reached the WKC playoffs by going 5-2 in the league, 7-5 overall. The following season, Grove City captured its first conference title by storming to a 7-0 league record during the 1978-79 season. The Wolverines finished 13-1 overall, including a 12-0 mark against NCAA opponents. The Wolverines rolled to another WKC championship with a 7-0 league record in the 1979-80 season, finishing 16-1 overall, which is still the best season in program history. On her way to becoming Grove City’s all-time leading scorer, then-freshman Jody Imbrie led the Wolverines by averaging 22.6 points per game as a rookie. Grove City stormed to its third straight league title in the 1980-81 season, going 6-1 in the league and 19-3 overall. The following season, the Wolverines would earn their first-ever NCAA Tournament. In 1981-82, Grove City claimed its fourth straight WKC title and qualified for the first-ever NCAA Division III Women’s

The 1982-83 NCAA Team Basketball Championship Tournament with a 19-5 record. Grove City fell to Augustana (Ill.) in the first round, 83-62. Senior Karen Watkins closed her career as Grove City’s all-time leading rebounder with 862 boards while Imbrie became the program’s first 1,000-point scorer. Grove City returned to the NCAA Tournament the following season after winning its fifth straight WKC title with a 10-2 league mark. The Wolverines downed Susquehanna in the first round, 60-58, but fell in the second round to defending national champion Elizabethtown, 59-55. Grove City finished the season with a school-record 22 wins. Imbrie registered a school-record 770 points in 27 games, finishing her career as Grove City’s all-time leading scorer with 2,288 points. She also set the single-game scoring record that season with 41 points against Youngstown State Jan. 29, 1983. Ellis stepped down as head coach following the 198283 season, finishing with a 102-26 (.792) record. Judy Zarenko coached Grove City to a 22-23 aggregate record during the 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons. Grove City finished second in the WKC in 1984-85 with a 4-1 record. Susan Roberts, currently associate athletic director at Grove City, assumed control of the program prior to the 1985-86 season. A new challenge awaited Grove City that year: the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Grove City College joined the PAC prior to the 1984-85 season but 1985-86 marked the first season the league sponsored a women’s basketball championship. Grove City went 7-5 in its first season of PAC play and 11-11 overall. The next season, Grove City secured its first PAC championship with a 12-0 league mark. Senior Brenda Kanar (1,183) became the program’s second 1,000-point scorer during the season, helping the Wolverines post a 17-3 overall record. Senior Monica Yustak earned the conference’s Most Valuable Player award that season.

PROGRAM HISTORY
As the 1980s closed and the 1990s began, Grove City collected four consecutive runner-up finishes in the PAC. Carolyn Cochrane (1,153) joined Imbrie and Kanar in the 1,000-point club during the 1988-89 season while Christine Carlson (1987-91) finished her career with 1,337 points. Cochrane also graduated with1,110 rebounds, the most in College history. As a senior, Carlson became just the second Grove City player to eclipse the 500-point mark in one season during the 1990-91 campaign. In Roberts’ final year as head coach, Theresa Berg moved ahead of Carlson into second place on Grove City’s all-time scoring list with 1,347 points. Roberts finished with a 101-78 record as head coach, second all-time to Ellis in both victories and winning percentage. Melissa Lamie inherited a very young Grove City team prior to the 1993-94 season. Over the next two seasons, Grove City won just four of 46 games. But the foundation for future success had been established. Grove City rebounded to a 12-12 season in 1995-96. The following year, Grove City went 15-9 during the regular season and earned its first-ever ECAC Tournament bid. Led by tournament MVP Beth Lora, the Wolverines captured the 1997 ECAC title with a 67-63 overtime win over Ursinus in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Lora’s 33-point effort in the semifinals lifted Grove City to a 71-68 win over top-seeded King’s. In 1997-98, Lora went over the 1,000-point mark and finished as Grove City’s fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,250 points. Grove City finished 16-9, reaching the ECAC semifinals before being eliminated by Pitt-Bradford. Senior Karin Hendrickson helped lead Grove City to another runner-up finish in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference during the 1998-99 season. She became Grove City’s seventh 1,000-point scorer and also graduated as the College’s all-time leader in steals with 247. Grove City returned to the ECAC tournament in 2000 as the fifth seed in the six-team tournament.
Grove City knocked off Alvernia in the quarterfinals, then upset top-seeded Lebanon Valley in the semifinals. Grove City fell to Carnegie Mellon, 66-54, in the championship game. That year, Grove City set a new school record by playing 29 games and by winning three total postseason games. The Wolverines celebrated their silver anniversary season by earning their fourth ECAC berth in five years in 2001. Grove City lost to host DeSales in the quarterfinals, however, 72-49. Grove City earned another second-place finish in the PAC in the 2001-2002 season as guard Stephanie Murphy became the first Grove City player to play in 100 games. In addition, Lamie became Grove City’s all-time wins leader when the Wolverines pulled out a last-second 53-52 win at Washington & Jefferson Jan. 23, 2002. In 2002-2003, guard Cara Denniston established a new Grove City record by playing in 106 straight games. Denniston helped Grove City rebound from a 1-9 start to earn runner-up honors behind NCAA qualifier Washington & Jefferson. Following a 14-11 season in 2003-2004, Grove City returned to the postseason in 2004-2005 with a 16-8 regular season record. Grove City went 8-2 in the PAC and shared the conference’s regular season title. The Wolverines then advanced to the ECAC Southern Championship Tournament before falling in the quarterfinals to eventual ECAC champ DeSales, 71-63. Senior guard Abby Moose closed her career with 1,209 career points, the fifth-highest total in school history. Center Sandy O’Keefe graduated as the program’s all-time leader in blocked shots. Lamie stepped down in 2006 to concentrate on her duties as Grove City’s head women’s soccer coach. Sarah Harris took over as Grove City head coach and during the 2006-07 season, center Rachel McCoy finished her career with 1,036 points. In 2008-09, Grove City returned to the conference’s upper echelon by posting a 7-7 league mark. Grove City also recorded its 400th all-time victory December 3, 2008 by defeating longtime rival Geneva. Forward Christine Slater fired in 400 points during the season, becoming the fifth Grove City player to achieve that feat. In 2009-10, Slater scored her 1,000th point and helped the Wolverines to an 8-6 conference record. In 2010-11, first-year head coach Michelle Bruns took over and led Grove City to its first winning season since 2005. Slater concluded her career as the second-leading scorer (1,634) and rebounder (901) in program history. Leah Gibson became Grove City’s 11th all-time 1,000point scorer in 2012-13, finishing with 1,254 career points. The College promoted assistant coach Chelle Fuss to head coach prior to the 2013-14 season.

ABOUT GROVE CITY COLLEGE
ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The beautifully landscaped campus of Grove City College stretches over 150 acres and includes 28 neoGothic buildings. It is considered one of the loveliest in the nation. While the College has changed to meet the needs of the society it serves, its basic philosophy has remained unchanged since its founding in 1876. It is a Christian, liberal arts institution, dedicated to the principle of providing the highest quality education at the lowest possible cost. Wishing to remain truly independent and to retain its distinctive qualities as a private school governed by private citizens (trustees), it is one of few colleges in the country that does not accept federal funds. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but not narrowly denominational, the College believes that to be well-educated a student should be exposed to the central ideas of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Grove City College offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, business, and music and is distinguished as a national leader in education. Grove City’s programs in electrical and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission Board of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The “big business school curriculum” prepares students for today’s global business reality. An extensive variety of internship opportunities are provided across the curriculum. Grove City College wants its students to be prepared in this age of mobile information technology. Each entering freshman receives a tablet computer which is his or hers to keep upon graduation with a four-year degree. This is part of the Information Technology Initiative, a total program integrating technology across the curriculum.
PROGRAMS AND MAJORS
Grove City College’s Breen Student Union
The College believes that its student body has a unique mix of talents and abilities. Its Career Services program helps students identify those key assets during the first year and then builds a four-year strategy to help them pursue a satisfying career. Personal counseling, professional speakers, databases, alumni contacts, summer internships, corporate visits, employer presentations and more are incorporated into the career preparation experience. Grove City follows the semester calendar plan, in addition to offering two-week sessions in January and May. Most of the 2,500 students live in separate men’s and women’s dormitories. The rest are local commuters or married students. A full program of cultural, professional, athletic and social activities is offered, including 19 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams. Grove City, a town of 8,100 people, is located 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. It is located near Interstates 79 and 80 and has a municipal airport.

ATHLETIC FACILITIES
All 19 of Grove City College’s intercollegiate varsity athletic teams utilize the College’s superior facilities for competition, practices and off-season training and conditioning. Grove City’s athletic facilities have undergone numerous renovations and improvements in recent years, with more upgrades scheduled in the immediate future. On lower campus, Robert E. Thorn Field is home to the College’s football and track and field teams. The College installed CSTurf at Robert E. Thorn Field. CSTurf is a synthetic playing surface that features polyethylene LSR grass fibers and a rubber infill system. The College also installed lights and resurfaced the 8-lane track around the field. Grove City also reconfigured its setup for track meets during these renovations. In 2011, the College installed a new state-ofthe-art scoreboard and new bleachers on the visitors’ side at Thorn Field. These upgrades benefit the entire campus community as the complex is used by both the College’s club sports teams and its intramural program, along with the varsity teams. The track is also available for use by recreational walkers and joggers. The complex also features 10 all-weather tennis courts next to the stadium. Phillips Field House, located at the north end of the complex, features several locker rooms, an athletic training room, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices. It is used by the football, track and tennis programs throughout the academic year. The Physical Learning Center (PLC) houses the Grove City College Arena, home to the College’s basketball and volleyball programs. In summer 2012, the College renovated the Arena by installing new lighting and a new playing floor. In recent years, the Arena has also received new scoreboards and scorers’ tables.

In addition, the PLC features the James E. Longnecker Pool, one of the premier aquatic facilities in the region. Each year, Grove City hosts the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the state-of-the-art facility. In 2012, the College also hosted the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships at the James E. Longnecker Pool. The PLC also features a second pool, the Recreational Pool, which is used by members of the College community year-round. A fitness room featuring aerobic and Cybex equipment and a separate weight room with free and mechanized weights are also keystone areas of the facility. The PLC also features six racquetball/handball courts as well as two adjacent intramural rooms. The intramural rooms each feature four basketball courts, four indoor tennis courts, four volleyball courts, an indoor track and two indoor jumping pits. The College installed new synthetic flooring and several new electronic scoreboards throughout the intramural rooms. The Physical Learning Center houses the athletic training room, locker rooms and offices for coaches and physical education faculty. The College recently constructed a new office suite for coaches and athletic administration, while also incorporating its Athletic Hall of Fame area. Grove City’s outdoor athletic facilities have also received numerous upgrades in recent years. The varsity soccer field, College Field, was expanded and re-sodded during the summer of 2005. College Field also received a new press box during the summer of 2007. Meanwhile, Grove City’s baseball and softball facilities recently received major facelifts as new dugouts, new fencing and electronic scoreboards were installed on both fields.
