Using the Guide

In the guide, you’ll find information about programs designed for girls, families, and adults We offer opportunities across North Florida, from Jacksonville to Pensacola and everywhere in between!

Let girls take the lead! Help her find the experiences that are just right for her

Once you pick the programs she wants to attend, register online at girlscoutsgateway.org/events.

Remember: Girl Scouts is about progression! If your Junior Girl Scout sees a program she’d love but it’s only available to Seniors and Ambassadors, remind her that if she sticks with Girl Scouting, she’ll be able to do that program soon and more!

Girls can attend events as a troop, on their own, or with their whole family. You’ll see which events are open to different groups throughout the guide.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

For events:

• All requests must be in writing.

• Unless otherwise stated, the last day to request a refund is the closing date for registration of the specific event

For properties:

• Initial deposit is nonrefundable unless there is an extenuating circumstance, such as weather.

• Cancellations need to be received 30 days prior to the property reservation date in order to not be responsible for the entire fee.

• Cancellations received within 30 days of property reservation date will be billed at 100 percent

• In all cases of cancellation, we will attempt to

• reschedule the camping event to an alternative day or property as appropriate.

The process for refunds:

• Once written cancellation is received, the refund is processed within 1-2 business days and is credited to the payment card initially used.

• If a cash or check were used, a refund check will be issued and sent to the name and address on the original check

• If the payment was made by credit card more than 120 days prior to the request, a refund check will be issued.

• A cancellation and refund confirmation will be sent to the person making the request. Once the refund has been processed, card refunds should be received within 2-3 business days. Refund checks should be received within 5 business days

• If the cancellation period has passed, the request will be reviewed for consideration and a response of approval or denial will be sent.

• If funds for a community event have already been paid to the community, the community will receive all cancellation requests and provide any refunds.

Program Aide Training Weekend

Jan 6 – 8

Camp Kugelman – Pensacola/Alabama

Cost: $40/GS, $25/Adult

Program Aides, also known as PA's are Girl Scouts who plan and lead activities and events for younger girls. This training weekend enables girls to explore their leadership through participation in hands-on activities, skill building, and reflection. We ask that you please attend the complete weekend, which includes overnight camping from Friday - Sunday. All food, lodging and materials are included in the event registration cost.

This Highest Awards training is highly recommended for girls interested in pursuing the Girl Scout Gold Award. Trail Adventure Badge Workshop & Picnic

Calling all Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies – join us at camp for a fun filled day of activities ran by Cadette Girl Scouts who just completed their Program Aide Training. As part of the training, Cadettes will incorporate their newly acquired skills for working with younger Girl Scouts during programs and events, your Girl Scouts will help them earn the final requirement of their training by participating in activities, playing outdoor games, singing songs around the campfire circle, taking a hike and even doing a cool science experiment! This event is perfect to attend on your own or with your Girl Scout troop. We hope to see you there!

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Jan 14

Zoom- Virtual Cost: $0/GS, $0/Adult

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

STOMP is explosive, inventive, and utterly unique an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eightmember troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

National Girls & Women in Sports Day Clinic - All GS Feb 4

Participate in this clinic run by female student athletes. Girls will rotate from station to station and learn the basics of each sport that will be taught by female sports teams. You will hear from the sports performance team about stretching and nutrition as well as the Taylor Leadership Institute about the importance of leadership in sports.

A new adventure is coming to UFPA, Disney’s iconic Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, and their best friends Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, and Owl (oh… and don’t forget Tigger, too)! Do you feel a calling to give back or have an interest in pursuing a career in medicine?! This program is for you! Girl Scouts will join UF Health and experience different healthcare careers! This is a hands-on program that includes hands only CPR and Stop the Bleed.

Visit One EPIC Farm to meet rescued farm animals like horses, pigs, and chickens. Enjoy a farm tour, meet and greet with the animals, and a themed art activity.

Join Pensacola Ice Flyers for Girl Scout Game Night! The night will include a Gateway Council video board shout out, an on-ice photo after the game, and holding the Pre-Game Flag (this if for the first 40 girls to register). If we have more than 30 registered everyone will receive a free hat!

Ready Set Hike!

Ready Set Hike events are designed for Cadette scouts to work toward their Cadette Trailblazer badge. Senior and Ambassador Scouts and adults are also invited to attend for conditioning or just to get outdoors. This hike will be at least 5 miles long.

Space Pioneers at the MOSH!

Take an intergalactic road trip with MOSH! We’ll discover the planets, learn what constellations we can see at night, and travel throughout the galaxy, all while staying comfortably Earth-bound in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium here at the Museum. Learn about coding basics, digital game design, and app development with Kids Can Code. Girl Scouts will earn three badges writing JavaScript code and using the VidCode platform. Girls will practice coding in a fun and laid-back learning environment that will allow the ability to explore and expand on coding capabilities!

Engineering For Speed

March 25

Virtual Cost: $35/ GS, $5/ Adult Teamwork is key to NASCAR. Daisy and Brownies can work together in the blended program to earn three badges. Girl Scouts will explore how and why cars are designed and their purpose by examining parts and pieces and creating their own car design. Learn about assembly lines and how cars are manufactured at a race team and factory. Test your engineering skills to build a car based on their scout level. Then race your cars to see if you can set or beat the NASCAR Hall of Fame track record.

Virtual Cost: $35/ GS, $5/ Adult Teamwork is key to NASCAR. Designed for speed, race cars can drive at up to 200 mph. Juniors explore race cars and streetcars to discover design, science, engineering, and manufacturing, earning 3 badges. Juniors step into the roles of engineer, designer, and aerodynists. Throughout the 60-minute session, scouts will create their cars through each step of the program, from concept to build, to racing. Girl Scouts will need to draw on their knowledge of science, including forces in motion and energy.

Come back for round two as you become proficient in paddling strokes and maneuvers you learned in Canoeing 1 (Intro to Canoeing), then learn new strokes and sweeps to strengthen your skills. Eat lunch on the lake, in your canoe and take a nice refreshing swim in Hankley Lake!

Grab your paddles and meet us lakeside to learn all about kayaking! You will learn the basic strokes, how to get in and out properly, how to wet exit your kayak, and of course all the safety points and gear needed to be successful on the water. Join in the fun as you take a tour of McCarthy Lake and find out what Dead Fish Polo is all about!

Set sail on McCarthy Lake as you learn the basics of sailing. Find out how to read the wind, tack and jibe, and, most importantly have fun! Run a course in our Optimus Prams and feel the wind in your sails.

Expand your sailing and teamwork skills as you guide a Laser through the water during this one weekend course. Learn how to rig a Laser on your own and join in a regatta as you solidify your skills.

Develop your skills as an artist by learning about mixing color, observation, various paints, and then putting it all together to paint your own masterpiece.

Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Girl Media Team

The GSGC Girl Media Team is for girls who thrive behind or in front of the camera. Girls who have big dreams of being news anchors, journalists, YouTubers, graphic designers, and writers.

The Girl Media Team is a special-interest group open to Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.

Girls across our council receive special training in all-things media, empowering them to be the official reporters for council and community events and officially represent GSGC as they share our stories with the Girl Scout community and the world.

Members serve as the faces and voices of GSGC in various media outlets. As a member of the GSGC Girl Media Team you will:

•Interview with the media and attend press events.

•Volunteer at Girl Scout booths at public events.

•Participate in focus groups.

•Write articles and shoot photos/videos.

GS Night with the Jacksonville Sharks

May 20

VyStar Veterans Memorial ArenaJacksonville

Cost: $30/ GS, $30/ Adult

Calling all Girl Scouts and families for a fun filled night with the Jacksonville Sharks! Girl Scouts will kick the evening off with alongside the Sharks Dance Team for a one-of-a-kind pregame experience. Girl Scouts will receive a warm welcome with a message over the PA and a feature on the Jumbotron. Each participant will receive a Lower Bowl Endzone Ticket, $10.00 Sharks Bucks for Food, Drink, or Merchandise, exclusive Sharks Hat, Special Edition Sharks Scout Patch, and Autograph Session after the game.

Eco Badge Cabin Camping Weekend

May 26 - 28

Camp Longleaf – Freeport Cost: $500 per cabin

Come spend a weekend cabin camping with your Girl Scout sisters. You will rent a cabin that sleeps 10 people, (8 girls and 2 Adults - all bunk bed style). A minimum of 1 Adult must stay in each cabin. You will earn your Eco Badge with Biophilia Staff. Each group will supply their own food and activities outside of the badge workshops. This is a badge weekend you don't want to miss!

Animal and Dinosaur Habitats

May 27

MOSH - Jacksonville Cost: $23/GS, $17/Adult

Join the experts at MOSH and explore wild animals and their habitats. We will look at different animals and their habitats in the FNC (Florida Naturalist Center) and explore what an animal needs in a habitat to survive. Scouts will have hands-on experience in creating their own animal houses. We will also explore the new Dinosaur traveling exhibit to examine extinct animals and their habitats.

Sun Girls

May 27

TBD, Jacksonville Cost: $18/GS, $5/Adult

The source of green plant's energy and sun tans. Our own special star. We examine our Sun's output, called radiation. Its colors, energies and what those colors can mean. How can we easily detect the Ultraviolet light that causes our sun tan? Is the Sun actually on fire? We will look into the Sun's special properties. You will have a chance to ask your questions too! We will have safe telescopic viewing of the Sun if weather permits!

Sleepover with the Jumbo Shrimp - All GS May 27

Jacksonville Cost: $25/GS, $25 Adult

Take me out to the ballgame and cheer on our Jumbo Shrimp baseball team. After the game enjoy fireworks and a night of fun including a movie. Concessions will be available for purchase.

All About Stingrays! - All GS June 3

St. Augustine Aquarium – St. Augustine Cost: $18/GS, $10/Adult

Learn everything you want to know about stingrays! From what they eat and where they live in the ocean, to their anatomy and measure them, you’ll find out lots of new information about our ocean friends. After you’ve learned all about stingrays, you’ll get up close with them as you feed and touch them!

Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.

The Outdoor Training Extravaganza is an annual weekend for volunteers and older Girl Scouts with the mission of all participants receiving training in an outdoor skill. This course is for learning canoe skills.

This certification builds on the same skills taught to Gateway Council Kayak Instructor's but provides a Nationally recognized certification listed in Safety Activity Checkpoints. Adult Volunteers certified as PSFs can take girls (B, J, C, S, A) kayaking on flat, calm, lakes near shore.
