By Sonia Clark After a two-year break Coochin Creek Co-op is set to bring back its popular Farmers Golf Day event. Co-op general manager Steve Williams said that he and his team were looking forward to hosting the day, which is planned for Friday, August 23 at Beerwah Golf Club. “We ran our last one in 2016 and then decided to put the event on hold to concentrate on strengthening the Co-op business,” Steve said. “We are really glad that we now have the time to invest in hosting the event, which is just a really great social day out and a chance for local producers to come together. “The whole team here is really looking forward to the day.” In previous years the event was for Co-op members only but this year Steve said that all primary producers and farmers in the region were welcome to attend – whether they are a member or not. “Every player gets a prize and you don’t have to be a pro-golfer to come along. It’s really more about having fun and meeting other farmers and local producers in a relaxed environment. “We’ll have four players per team and if you are an individual player then we’re happy to help organise a team for you on the day,” Steve said. The participation fee for the event is just $49 and includes catering (morning tea, lunch, drinks) and green fees for the day.
Steve Williams, Andrea Parr, Heather Purcell and Allan McColl … ready for action Teams or individual players are welcome, with tee off (shotgun start) at 7am. If players arrive earlier they can also enjoy a sausage sizzle breakfast put on by the local Lions Club. To find out more or to book in, contact the Co-op on 5494 6219.
