Nominations may be made from the floor. Each person nominated from the floor must be a member in good standing of the civic club and present to signify his or her willingness to be nominated and serve if elected. The Officers and Directors-at-Large are elected to one year terms. The Section Directors are elected to two year terms. Directors of odd numbered sections are elected in odd numbered years and Directors of even numbers are elected in even years. As per the By-Laws of the Club, vacancies that occur on the Board are filled by appointment from the Board. Cont’d p. 2

Annual Membership Drive Please do your part….All Glenbrook Valley residents will soon receive a mailer reminding you that it is time to pay the 2014 annual membership fee. There are approximately 1,265 homes in Glenbrook Valley and we need everyone to be a supporter of our Civic Organization. The fee is only $35.00 a year, $25.00 for seniors with an over 65 Homestead Exemption! If you can’t volunteer, or even attend meetings, you are still a vital part of the organization just by simply sending in your membership fee. What does your $35.00 per year get you?....monthly newsletters (advertisements only cover a part of the cost), liaison with City, County, and State Government, enforcement of deed restrictions, general meetings with speakers sharing information to help residents, Yard of the Month and Holiday awards, landscaping and esplanade maintenance (just to name a few).

By-Laws Amendment The privacy of our membership records has always been a policy of the civic club. The Club's original by-laws had a "privacy section." During the years between 1958 & 1993 the by-laws were amended several times, and at some point the privacy section deleted.

Proposed amendment: Article II, Membership, Section 5: Membership records, or rosters, shall not be made available to the general membership or the general public. The Membership Secretary, Treasurer, and President of the Club are the only persons with access to the list. Information submitted by residents is deemed confidential. The amendment will be voted on at the January 16, 2014 Annual Meeting.

Chapter 42 Recent changes to the City's Codes and Ordinances, Chapter 42 will increase the density in neighborhoods not protected by deed restrictions and will forever change the look and feel of some areas. Deed restrictions that include minimum set back requirements and minimum lot sizes are protected from these changes. If a neighborhood's deed restrictions do not have both requirements, the City has provided a process that will protect the integrity of the neighborhood. All thirteen sections in Glenbrook Valley's deed restrictions contain stated minimum set back requirements. Ten of the thirteen sections in Glenbrook Valley state the minimum lot size requirements. However, Sections 1, 2, and 5 do not have the minimum lot size stated. The recent changes to the city ordinances expanded the January, 2014
higher density allowed inside loop 610 to all areas inside the city limits. Our deed restrictions & historic regulations provide great protections from incompatible redevelopment, however, this ordinance change, combined with the lack of a stated minimum lot size requirement in these 3 sections, leaves them with fewer protections than the balance of the neighborhood. Teams of neighbors will be contacting other neighbors in the 3 sections to begin the procedure to safeguard the character of the neighborhood.
