District I Stakeholders Meeting Monday, March 9 Hobby DoubleTree Hotel 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Council Member Robert Gallegos will host a stakeholder meeting in the Hobby area to discuss a number of infrastructure and beautification projects in the works and some that we could expect over the next few years. Representatives with the Hobby Area Management District, Gulfgate Reinvestment Zone, Houston Parks Board, and others, will provide updates on the Broadway Blvd. revitalization project, the recent Gulfgate TIRZ expansion, Bayou Greenways, and discuss proposed plans to develop a world-class Botanic Garden in our area.

No Parking on the Yard

It is illegal to park a vehicle on the yard of any residence in Glenbrook Valley. Anyone may report the violation.

There are several ways to report violators: 1) go to the Southeast HPD's web site at www.hpdsoutheast.com, select "Neighborhood Complaint Form," on the violation pull down select "yard parking."

2) Call 311, give them the address so that they may verify Glenbrook Valley's participation in the ordinance. The operator will transfer you to the non-emergency HPD dispatcher. You will need to give the Cont’d p. 2

The minimum fine for parking a vehicle on the yard is $150.00 per day. If the vehicle parked on the yard does not belong to the property owner, the vehicle owner and the property owner may both be cited. Citations can be issued daily. Failure to appear causes an arrest warrant to be issued.

Yards used as parking lots diminish the property values of all properties in that area of the neighborhood.

Special Azalea Recognition March is generally the month for azaleas! It’s unfortunate that their blooming period is so short. Glenbrook Valley Civic Club will recognize outstanding azalea gardens in our next newsletter. Since the blooming varies from bush to bush, and the weather is unpredictable, there is no set date for recognition. The "bloom" will be the determiner.

How about the flowerbeds? lawn? edging? Is the fence in good shape?

Now is the time to get the list made and plan the needed repairs and adjustments. Consider the fact that it's easier, not to mention less expensive, to take care of problems when they're small. Our home is one of our most valuable possessions. Routine maintenance affects the value of not only your home, but the community as well.
