Glenbrook Valley is divided into five sectors for the selection of award winning yards, Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest I, and Southwest II. Broadway is the north-south dividing line and Bellfort is the east-west dividing line.

The Southwest section has the largest number of homes so it is divided into subsections. Southwest I includes Section 7 and Section 7 Extended. Southwest II is section 9.

Your neighbors volunteer to be judges. They graciously give their time, and gasoline, in selecting the winning residences. The judges decision is final. The judges are looking for creativity and effort. A theme works! The award winning categories are “Most Beautiful,” “Most Original,” and “Honorable Mention.” If you would like to volunteer to be a judge, please call Ann Collum at 713-645-0241.

The Glenbrook Valley Civic Club honors those homes that have been continuous award winners by declaring them to be in the “Hall of Fame.” To become a member of this elite category requires five consecutive years of winning in any of the categories. City Ordinance Regarding Noise Occasionally a neighbor forgets to respect the tranquility of other neighbors. We're frequently asked what can be done. The following is from the "City of Houston's Codes and Ordinances," Chapter 30 Sections 2, 7, and 17. Violations should be reported to HPD at 713-881-3131.

Sec. 30-2. General prohibitions. (a) It is unlawful for any person to make, assist in making, permit, continue, cause to be made or continued, or permit the continuance of any loud, unnecessary, or unusual sound or noise that disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of November, 2014

In determining whether a sound or noise is loud, unnecessary, or unusual, the following factors shall be considered: (1) The time of day; (2) The proximity of the source of the sound or noise to residential structures; (3) Whether the sound or noise is recurrent, intermittent, or constant; (4) The volume and intensity of the sound or noise; (5) Whether the sound or noise has been enhanced in volume or range by any type of electronic or mechanical means; and (6) Whether the sound or noise is subject to being controlled without unreasonable effort or expense to the creator thereof. (b) The acts enumerated in the following sections of this chapter, among others, are declared to be sound nuisances in violation of this chapter, but such enumeration shall not be deemed to be exclusive.
