Our annual Bingo night and pot luck dinner is fast approaching. Are you ready? All Glenbrook Valley Civic Club members are welcome to join in the fun; guests can join us for $15. Haven’t paid your dues yet? You can pay them at the door. Bring your favorite dish to share with neighbors and get ready to play and win!

Speaking of win, we are still in need of donations for the game prizes. Call your friends, visit your favorite area businesses and restaurants and ask for donations. Donations large and small are welcome. Gift cards, small appliances, sporting event tickets and other great items have all been donated in the past.

Community Standards The Glenbrook Valley Civic Club is here to help serve the needs of our neighborhood, to help maintain its stability and protect the investments we have all made in our homes and our community. To that end volunteers with the civic club have worked on a number of projects ranging from new entrance markers to fighting commercial encroachment & its negative effects to establishing Glenbrook Valley as the nation’s largest locally designated post WWII Historic District.

Of course items such as cars parked on the lawn or using front carports as storage can also be very detrimental to the appearance of not only the individual property but also the whole block.

As we move towards Fall, we will be focusing more on the community standards in an effort to make sure we are doing everything we can to help protect your investment in Glenbrook Valley. In our busy lives it is easy to sometimes miss those property appearance things “we have been meaning to get to.” If you should receive a note reminding you of an issue that needs to be addressed to help maintain our community’s appearance, please remember we are not trying to offend anyone, we are just asking for your cooperation in helping to maintain Glenbrook Valley as the showpiece neighborhood it has always been. Your help and cooperation is always appreciated.

Try to make time to attend the civic club meetings, volunteer and get involved in your community. Together, we can keep Glenbrook Valley a desirable place to live for years to come.

By Laws Amendment The attendance at March civic club meetings is generally less than at other meetings. It was suggested that the meeting date usually falls during Spring Break. We wish to change the meeting month from March to April in an effort to increase attendance.

The Glenbrook Valley Civic Club Board of Directors approved an amendment to the Club’s By-Laws at the June, 2011 Board meeting.

The proposed amendment will appear in the September, 2011 & October, 2011 newsletters, and will be voted on at the general meeting on October 20.

Broadway Storefront The city's budget cuts have eliminated the civilian employees at the HPD Storefronts. At the present time we still have two officers assigned to the Broadway Storefront, Officers Wiggins and Montoya.

They are only on duty at the Storefront office Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Frequently they have to answer calls for service during that four hour window.

In order to avoid frustration, if you need non-emergency assistance call 713-884-3131. For emergencies call 911.
