It’s BINGO Time! Thursday, September 20 Our annual Bingo night and pot luck dinner is fast approaching. Are you ready? All Glenbrook Valley Civic Club members are welcome to join in the fun; guests can join us for $15. Haven’t paid your dues yet, you can pay them at the door. Bring your favorite dish to share with neighbors and get ready to play and win! Speaking of win, we are still in need of donations for the game prizes. Call your friends, visit your favorite area businesses and restaurants and ask for donations. Donations large and small are welcome. Gift cards, small appliances, sporting event tickets and other great items have all been donated in the past. Email Shannon.McNair@sbcglobal.net with your donation information and to arrange pick up. of our neighborhood. We have a block grant in the works to help address some issues with a vacant property, as well as plans to get our Bellfort markers landscaped. In addition, Community Standards letters have already started going out to encourage property owners in the community to address issues that could have a potentially negative impact on the appearance and property values of Glenbrook Valley. We do realize that some may take offense if they receive one of the letters, but we hope that everyone understands what we are trying to accomplish. It isn’t a complicated motive on the part of the civic club, we just want to try to “keep things up” and improve the appearance of the neighborhood. For most of us, our homes are our biggest investment. If there is a property that has things like peeling paint or overgrown shrubs, cars parked on the lawn or edging not done, etc., it will detract from the appearance of not only that home, but the whole street as well. We are hoping everyone pulls together to show our “Glenbrook Valley pride” as we strive to beautify the neighborhood. Since this will ultimately benefit everyone, we truly hope all Glenbrook Valley residents will be “on board” with beautifying the neighborhood. Unfortunately,
there will undoubtedly be some residents who will not exhibit pride of ownership and will fail to properly maintain their property, even after receiving notifications from the civic club. We have, however, some additional resources this year that will allow us to better address these problem properties. We sincerely hope that it doesn’t come to that, as obviously we would rather spend the resources of money and time on other projects, but we have the resources we need & we will dedicate them as necessary to uphold the appearance of our community. We would like to thank in advance all of those residents who keep their homes up beautifully and all of those that might receive a letter and address any concerns brought to their attention. Your help and cooperation is what keeps Glenbrook Valley a great place to call home. In implementing this stepped up beautification program, we will be as fair and thorough as possible & hopefully we will be addressing all issues in the neighborhood. As always, if you have any issues that need to be addressed near you, please contact one of the civic club board members listed on the front of the newsletter so that we can work on the problem or direct you to the proper resource.
