Guess what time it is – Covered Dish Dinner & BINGO! Thursday Sept 15th 6:30pm Glenbrook Methodist Church 8635 Glen Valley @ Wilmerdean

It’s time for our annual BINGO game and pot luck dinner night!. This is a Glenbrook Valley tradition and a great opportunity to meet and mingle with neighbors.

The fun starts at 6:30 at Glenbrook Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall. All guests are encouraged to bring their favorite pot luck dish. Coffee, tea and punch provided by the Civic Club.

BINGO is free for current civic club members/families and $15. per person for guests. If you haven’t gotten around to paying your 2016 dues, bring payment to BINGO and enjoy the fun.

Prizes for BINGO are solicited and donated by residents. Bring prize items to Fellowship Hall by 6:15, or email Shannon.McNair@sbcglobal.net to make other drop off arrangements. Past prizes have included sporting event tickets, new or nice vintage house wares, wine/liquor and gift cards to area restaurants and businesses.

This is great opportunity for area businesses to promote their services to residents. If you know area business owners please encourage them to consider a prize donation. They will be recognized at the event and also in the newsletter.

Glenbrook Valley's First Annual Home Tour Save the dates - October 1 & 2!

The Glenbrook Valley Civic Club is organizing a huge event to promote the neighborhood and raise funds for our redesigned neighborhood markers. On October 1st and 2nd, from 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. 6 of Glenbrook Valley’s fin-

est mid-century homes, along with the 1940's Air Terminal Museum at Hobby, will be open to the public for viewing. Tickets are $30 each, and may be purchased in advance by going to our website, glenbrookvalley.org and using the PayPal feature. We will also be selling tickets the days of the event, at the corner of Santa Elena and Glen Valley and also Colgate at Lakewind. Tickets are required for entry.

A huge debt of gratitude is owed to the homeowners who are graciously opening their homes for this event to help us raise money, and to also raise awareness and appreciation for our great neighborhood. Many different media outlets are expected to feature the tour, including Houston House and Home, The Houston Chronicle, Culturemap.com, as well as others. Interest and turn out should be high!

The September issue of Houston House and Home will not only feature the tour, but also the home of Matt Fugate & Rob Browning on Colgate, which of course is on the tour. Be sure to seek out a

Ross Bynum and Andy & Lenora Hartley's homes on Cayton were featured in the 1956 Parade of Homes.

This is a great opportunity to help promote our neighborhood. People from all over the city will be coming to view the historic homes and the community. Let’s make sure we make the best possible impression on our visitors. National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Turn on your front porch lights for National Night Out on October 4, 2016, from 6pm ‘til 9pm.

Do your part in showing that Glenbrook Valley is unified in our efforts to keep crime out of our neighborhood! With our weather hopefully cooling off just a bit, it is a great opportunity to go outside and meet your neighbors.

Plan a block party!! Get together with neighbors, set up a table on your front lawn or driveway and share refreshments. The point is to meet your neighbors, relax and have a good time.

Now is the time to start planning with your neighbors for the block party! The more we get to know our neighbors, the easier it is to recognize the strangers that don’t belong in the neighborhood.

Please join in the celebration for NATIONAL NIGHT OUT on October 4.
