CAPTAIN’S REPORT

CAPTAIN Greg Rundle

It gives me great pleasure to write this Captain’s report following two successful, yet challenging (global pandemic!) years as Captain. We are a team, together the Members, Committee and Staff powered through a period of uncertainty, once again highlighting the Glenelg culture, camaraderie and generosity embedded in this Club. On the back end of Covid-19 we are stronger than ever, with a 2+ year waiting list for membership, positive financial position, and a strong team ready to lead our Club forward. Whilst Covid-19 presented its challenges, especially once the borders opened around Christmas time, the decision making was strong, and most importantly the response from Members was outstanding. Numerous changes with short notice were embraced, and most importantly the health and safety of our Members, Staff and visitors was preserved. At times we ran with minimal staff, but we kept the facility running, so I thank Members for your understanding through these difficult times.

4 Glenelg Golf Club Incorporated

Financially, we posted a net operating profit of $42,664. A solid result given that we expensed over $300k in relation to course enhancement work relating to the 19th Hole, 18th Hole, establishment of the 2nd Nursery and initial costs of the 13th Hole. We also welcomed 95 new Members to the Club throughout the year, before closing off Membership towards the end of 2021 to preserve tee times for Members. We are starting to see signs of pre covid normality in our booking sheets as people start to travel again so we will be keen to see what impact that has on course traffic and the ability to keep it at the standard we have come to expect. I am proud of what we have achieved in the past two years, and this year especially with the commencement of the Course Enhancement Plan. It has been discussed for a long period of time and finally we were in a strong financial position to proceed. At this stage we are tracking better than budget and, if all goes to plan, we don’t expect to reach the anticipated $2 Million debt level. This would be a great achievement. This comes on the back of some great decisions made in terms of irrigation and synthetic turf. These items were paid in full for the entire project, and delivered to Adelaide ready for use. This saved an enormous amount of waiting time due to world-wide shortages, plus significant price increases in irrigation, shipping costs, and potential exchange rate changes between the AUD and USD. We are extremely happy with the results from the first two

ABN 94 199 789 857

holes, 18 and 13, and have received a significant amount of positivity from Members, other Clubs and industry professionals. We look forward to the next hole, 14, commencing in mid-August. This year we also introduced the Glenelg Golf Club Strategic Plan. This is something we have been working on for over two years, however the goal posts moved significantly through the Covid-19 period. Initially membership induction was key, however with the appetite returning for golf, we are in a fortunate position and are focussed on membership retention, adding value to membership and balancing the demand on the course. The Plan is set for the next four years, with the Course Enhancement being the number one priority. Thanks to the wonderful level of donations towards the new Pavilion at the 10th tee, plans are well underway to move quickly on this project. Whilst the original images were a concept, we have taken feedback on board and will be meeting with donors and the architect to finalise a design. We are certain that a Pavilion will be created that Members are extremely proud of and can utilise on a regular basis. Those donors will be formally recognised as the process continues. It is not too late to contribute. All donations are tax deductible, perfect timing for the end of financial year. Please see the administration team if you are interested. We hope to have the Pavilion completed early in the new year.

2021 saw the return of Pennant golf following a hiatus the previous year. It was great to see the black and gold back out competing and dominating as we have become accustomed to. Great wins for our Pike Cup and Sharp Cup teams, whilst other grades fell agonisingly short of the trophies. Nevertheless, a great season and fantastic representation by all players in the Glenelg teams. I thank my Committee for their hard work and dedication to the Club over the past two years. A Captain can only be as good as the team, and I undoubtably have always had their support and assistance at all times. Each and every Staff Member is also to be congratulated, they have done an outstanding job through some testing periods. Be it course condition, food and beverage quality, or pro shop and admin services, they have all played an immense role to provide us enjoyment every day we visit the golf club. Thank you.

first time in the history of Glenelg Golf Club, and in fact all tier one golf clubs in Adelaide, a female will be Captain of the Club. We are proud of this fact and hope this paves the way for other Clubs to follow suit. Imelda has done an outstanding job on our committee for 4 years and will be a fabulous leader of our Club. Once again, I would like to thank the Members for your ongoing support of our Club, and for your patience and understanding through unprecedented times. It is you that make Glenelg a great Club and one that I look forward to sharing many more wonderful memories with my family and all of you for many years to come. Greg Rundle Captain

I now pass the baton over to my Vice-Captain Imelda Lynch. For the

New 13th green after enhancement upgrades.

FINANCE The Club reported an operating profit of $42,664 for the period ended March 31 2022. Total equity increased to $11,578,806. The Club’s cash position increased by $299,239, with $1,216,630 available at period end. Cash flow generated from operating activities was used to fund the Club’s capital expenditure programs for the year, including the extensive course enhancement work. Total net income for the period was $4,026,105, with total expenditure for the year at $3,983,441. The loan facility remains at $2,200,000 with $5,000 drawn down at balance date. The Club entered into new lease agreements for Toro course equipment and also for 22 Golf Carts. Capital expenditure for the year was $808,646. The main project undertaken for the year was the course enhancement work including the finalisation of the nursery, 19th and 18th holes during the financial year. The project manager wages, and the irrigation costs associated with these projects equated to majority of the capital expenditure for the year. The course added a

trencher, track loader, woodchipper and tipper truck during the year. The range netting was upgraded to increase the width of the netting thus improving the safety to persons on the 1st tee. The clubhouse saw a number of small upgrades, including upgrades to the security system, CCTV and the air conditioner in the men’s locker room. Typical capital replacement was undertaken for administration, including the upgrade of a few of the older PC’s. The kitchen was refurbished as well as the dining room chairs. During the financial year, the Club expensed over $300,000 related to the course enhancement project which excludes additional wages to service the additional work required and also costs associated with project manager wages and irrigation that were capitalised. The principal enhancements covered by this amount were construction of the 2nd nursery, 19th hole, 18th hole & the beginning of the 13th hole. The Club reduced unit costs by prepaying for the irrigation during the year that will be used over the duration of the course enhancement. Any unused irrigation as at the 31st of March 2022 is presented as capital work in progress to be used in later years. Course expenditure for the year was

$467,684 higher than the prior year due to higher staffing levels to service the course enhancement and other costs directly related to the enhancement. Golf is booming and the 2021/22 year saw the creation of a waitlist for the first time in years. A very positive sign for the financial sustainability of the golf club for years to come. Membership income continued to positively increase on prior years, with $3,264,237 reported for the period. Subscription income increasing 15% over the prior period, driven by the strong interest from new Members joining the Club. A total of $451,509 was invoiced for Entrance Fees in 2021/2022, after the adjustments were applied to comply with AASB 15 relating to Entrance Fee reporting, the reportable amount for the year was $199,807, with an increase of $451,509 to the Liability account to be recognised as income over future years. Golf Operations finished with a surplus of $228,078. Golf Operations revenue was impacted heavily due to COVID-19 in the prior year, and the reintroduction of corporate golf and the opening of the borders in December 2021 saw

an increase of interstate visitors and member guests, in turn increasing green fee revenue by $107,155 compared to the prior year. Cart hire followed suit, increasing by $40,581 compared to the 2020/21 year. Hospitality operations were slowly restored finishing with a surplus of $294,405, a significant increase of $302,720 on the prior year. A pleasing result following a difficult prior year due to the COVID-19 pandemic which significantly impacted operations, forcing the closure of the Clubhouse for part of the year. The functions business was somewhat impacted for a large part of the year, with confidence around changing capacity levels and border restrictions meaning that functions were deferred, as the level of certainty increased this part of operations began to build back up. Function revenue equated to 39% of total revenue for hospitality operations which is up 5% over the prior period. Other income finished with a surplus of $239,385 which includes forfeited catering levies, phone tower rental income & apprentice wage subsidies. Other income reduced by $597,859 as a result of COVID-19 support payments

received through the ATO totalling $671,500 in the prior year. Expenditure for the year in Administration saw an increase of $95,106 as a result of the payroll tax waiver in the prior year, industry wide increase in insurance costs and computer maintenance expenses associated with the server. House expenditure finished $35,574 below last year, with the with the opportunity to repaint and rejuvenate the interior of the Clubhouse being undertaken during the closure in the prior year. As we conclude the 2021/22 financial year with a healthy waitlist, the first completed hole on the course enhancement plan and a few tough years of COVID-19 impacted operations behind us, the Club is in an excellent financial position as we head into the new year.

COURSE & MAINTENANCE The last year has seen the Course Maintenance Team embark on the implementation of the Course Enhancement Plan. After many years of planning, we are now able to address the maintenance issues

that we have been contending with over several years, such as the irrigation system, greens surfaces, bunkering, rough management, and golfer traffic. For some time, these issues have been a drain on Course resources and limiting our ability to present it to its fullest potential. It’s an exciting time for the Club and our Course Staff have taken the task on with great enthusiasm. Works commenced on the 19th Hole early in the year to make modifications, to sustain increased use through the duration of the Course Enhancement Works. The Tee area was expanded, as well as reworking of the Greenside bunkering with artificial turf utilised in their construction. As well as these modifications, the carry was landscaped and naturalised in conjunction with the reworking of the fairway bunkering on the 6th. Enhancement works were also started on the 8th to facilitate the installation of two new irrigation storage tanks. These two tanks will enable a high level of water security through the running of our nightly irrigation cycles, minimising the risk of running out of water if our bores are compromised whilst irrigation is occurring. Mounding was completed to screen the tanks

using soil fill from our new Greens nursery site that was constructed on the south side of the 2nd. The Greens nursery construction on the 2nd gives us a further 1600 square meters of Bent grass for our Greens resurfacing process. In November, the Course Enhancement Plan works commenced on the 18th with the Hole opening in the first week of March. With this hole under our belt, work began on 13 and with many lessons learnt through the early stages of the project, the construction works on 13 have progressed well. Throughout the year with Course Enhancement Works being undertaken, staff continued to maintain the Course to a high standard. At our Couch surface renovations in December, we employed a new machine for scarifying fairways in the Field Topmaker equipped with a scarifying bar. There are several benefits in using this machine, with the key ones being the aggressive removal of thatch and the reduction of Poa annua population and its seed bed just below the surface.

Fairways 9, 10, 15 and 17 were scarified as part of a programmed, staged approach to progress through the fairways. As it was our first year of undertaking this process, various depths were trialled to see how much material could be taken versus the recovery time. With a more aggressive approach taken with 15 and 17 leading to longer recovery times, a middle ground will be sort going into the future to ensure quicker recovery times without compromising the aim of this program.

Biodiversity and Vegetation This year we received a Green Adelaide Grassroots Grant of $94,000 (ex GST). The project, entitled Establishing a plant preservation partnership and creating habitat connectivity on Adelaide’s sand dune golf courses, aims to create habitat corridors between the four group one sand belt golf courses in Adelaide. This project will connect over 250 hectares of land - a larger land space than the recently established 208-hectare Glenthorne National

Park. We will also swap seeds and plant material between courses to create back up plant populations. These plant populations on each other’s courses will secure seedstock and plant material for our projects and preserve and protect the plants for future generations. Former Minister for the Environment, the Hon. David Speirs MP, visited the course to learn more about the project. Mr Speirs released a video on social media about our Club being a national leader in sustainability and showing great leadership in Australia and around the world. We have also been working with Green Adelaide to: •

create habitat for and rewild an extinct butterfly, the Yellowish Sedge Skipper

support Adelaide’s first insect survey

support bat surveys University of Adelaide

plant and conserve for future seed collection a rare plant grown by the Seed Conservation Centre at the Adelaide Botanic Garden.

Our Club’s environmental programs have been featured in Turfgrass Magazine and a Golf Australia article. We were invited to attend an Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) conference to participate in a discussion panel on Clubs of the Future and we were featured on their website as a Club of the Future. On ground works during the year included planting out of Course Enhancement Work areas on the 2nd, 19th, and 8th holes along with the general program of tidying up overgrown and weedy areas, raising of Pine tree canopies and Casuarina “suckering” control.

Volunteers This year, our loyal band of volunteers have contributed over 480 hours of work. They have assisted with emptying rubbish bins and filling sand bins; sanding and staining course furniture; removing weedy plant species; raking scarifyings during renovations; and raking of pine needles and pinecones. Their efforts are genuinely appreciated. As our Course Enhancement Works continue

over the next four years, any assistance from our Members will be welcomed.

Social Media Our following continued to grow this year. Some of our posts reached over 1,000 accounts. We posted 147 photos, some of which were reposted by Green Adelaide, as well as internationally by the GEO Foundation, Turf Today and the Real Turf Crew. The former Minister for the Environment, the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing and Golf Australia have posted about our environmental work on social media. Our social media accounts help us to promote our projects and our Club within Australia and around the world. I commend the Course Staff for their work and dedication through a very busy and successful year. The last twelve months has seen advances in infrastructure to improve efficiencies, upskilling of staff and refinements in our turf management practices that continue to see our standard of

presentation maintained at the highest possible level. The Glenelg Golf Course Maintenance team’s work in these areas, as well as our work in promoting our environmental sustainability initiatives, have been acknowledged both on a national and international level and we look forward to another year of positive achievement.

CLUBHOUSE, FOOD & BEVERAGE Our food and beverage operations swung back to life, post 2020 Covid restrictions. With Members unable to travel reliably, continuing to work from home and membership full, the course was running at capacity and all golfers enjoyed spending more time at the Club. For the first time ever, the Club started offering the drinks cart 5 days a week along with public holidays to keep up with Member demand. When borders opened in December our hospitality team was faced with a new problem not seen during the

pandemic. Continual shortages due to the Covid close contact restrictions resulted in many of the team unable to attend work for several weeks. We were fortunate enough to have several of the senior and casual staff step up and fill the shortages, even the office staff joined the team on busy day's just to get by. The wedding industry continued to be hit hard with couples still hesitant to book or booking with longer than usual lead times. Our Sales and Event Manager, Lynn Kschammer and her team did an amazing job during the year with limited bookings and managed to win for the first time, the Clubs SA Awards of Excellence – Best Function/ Event Venue. Also rounding out another success, Glenelg featured as runner-up in the ABIA Designer of Dreams National Awards, coming in behind The Club at Parkwood (Gold Coast). Function bookings started off strongly from April to December with Covid largely being contained to other states, business return to normal and conference bookings began to grow. Shortly after borders opened in December, customer confidence began to fade as a raft of covid restrictions followed, with functions, conferences and weddings continually being plagued and turning from on-again to offagain that continued until March 2022. General bar and bistro operations generated $1,607,318 in revenue for the 2021/2022 period, with function operations generating $1,018,842.

After expenses are accounted for, the net profit for the period was $294,405. Despite the numerous restrictions and staff shortages, we managed to host several successful Club events during the year. Mother’s Day was a sell-out event as Members and their families enjoyed a fabulous threecourse menu. Our popular Winery Challenge saw a total of 200 wine loving Members and guests across both AM and PM rounds, followed by lunch and dinner service. The Junior Foundation Day was a sell-out with yet another fantastic day with weather to match, and we were able to utilise our balcony and stunning views for lunch. Our annual Blitz Golf event was the first casualty of the borders opening in December with the event being cancelled one week before hosting as covid cases climbed across the state. We held two Winery Lunch experiences for Members this year. Our first event in May 2021, renowned wine maker, Alistair Ashmead of Elderton Wines, led over 160 Members through a delicious five course menu paired with nine wines. Our second event in March 2022 was hosted by Sarah Marquis, owner and winemaker of Molly Dooker Wines. Sarah entertained 75 Members, incluiding 15 interstate guests from our reciprocal club 13th Beach. Both events were well received with special thanks going to Head Chef, David Bridgman and his team for continually pairing amazing food with the wines presented on the days.

In a new event for the Members, the Club hosted a Lazy Sunday Afternoon featuring local rock legends, The Rejuvenators. While covid restrictions at the time prevented dancing, it couldn’t stop the event becoming a sell out and left Members jiving in their chairs instead. By the end of the year, our hospitality operations have started to exceed pre-covid levels with twilight golf becoming the weekly feature for Members to attend the Club. A special thanks to our entire hospitality team who endured record numbers during a time of staff shortages and continual changes. We are confident that the culture we have built and the service we offer that Glenelg will remain a venue of choice for Members and guests well into the future.

MEMBERSHIP & GOLF The Membership year commencing April 2021 saw the return of the waitlist at Glenelg for the first time in over 15 years. With the influx of Members welcomed in the 2020/21 year, the waiting list for all membership categories was soon introduced in September. Covid trends from 2020/21 lingered as Members continue to work from home and quarantine restrictions meant anyone travelling was at risk of an extended home lockdown. Across the varying membership

With the easing of most covid restrictions on the golf course, we were able to bring back rakes into bunkers, share a cart and remove the pool noodles from the holes. Along with the easing of restrictions meant we saw the return of interstate travellers again and inline the membership demand, we moved Wednesday golf bookings to Members only to offer the same exclusivity as a Saturday. The feedback from the change was well received along with the introduction of the two-tee start to maximise Member tee times. Pennant Golf resumed again as our Simpson Cup team looked to win the flag again for the 5th year in a row, unfortunately the inform Vines of Reynella defeated the team at Kooyonga in the semi-finals. Also suffering a similar fate was our Sanderson Cup team, going down narrowly in the grand final against Kooyonga. Our Sharp Cup team managed to defeat our long-time rivals (The Grange) on the coldest day of the year at Blackwood, with the boys winning 4-1. Pike Cup were also victorious giving Glenelg another two flags for the season. The regular competition calendar resumed with huge popularity found across all Member events including: The Foundation Day, Winery Challenge and in particular the Pairs & Partner events as Members enjoyed the public holidays with family and friends. Twilight golf returned again with the social outing really showcasing why we are one of the best Clubs in Adelaide as every week, over 100 Members and

of the golf industry is starting to provide the stability and decision making to the Committee of Management that has been lacking in recent years. Robert along with the Committee of Management have been busy putting together a 4 year Course Enhancement Plan along with the Clubs Strategic Plan, securing our Club’s Financial and Environmentally Sustainable future.

The Hospitality Team The hospitality team stepped up and enjoyed one of the busiest seasons as golf continues to boom and record numbers of Members and Guest enjoyed the Club and our wonderful facilities. Despite the ever-changing circumstances and the wave of close contact rules that followed the borders opening in December, the team came together and covered shifts where required, while continuing to provide an excellent service. We farewelled Hospitality Manager, Dani Caruso after just over a year in her position and welcome Anna Fontaine into the new role. Anna joins us from Adelaide Show Grounds Events and formerly the Clubhouse Operations Manager at Kooyonga. We also farewelled some loved senior and casual staff members Michelle Siebert, Indiana Meares and Morgan Patterson who finished their studies and gone on to take roles in their chosen fields. Our Sales and Events Manager, Lynn Kschammer continues to oversee our award winning function service with another year of on-again, off-again events caused by covid restrictions and close contact rules. Lynn continues to maintain her optimism and professionalism as restriction ease in 2022. In the Kitchen, Sous Chef, Zak Krajcek was farewelled as he pursued his dream role as a Head Chef in Norwood. Head Chef, David Bridgman led the team through yet another busy year of functions and several booked out Member events. Joining the kitchen team was Scott Muller who replaced Zak Kranjec as Sous Chef in January.

Admin Team 2021 saw several changes beginning with the departure of our beloved Finance Manger of 18 years, Carly Clough. Carly has been with us since November 2003 having started as an Accountant here at the Club. She has seen the business grow in her time and she leaves the Club and finances in a better place than we she started in her role. Carly has led the Finance and Administration team through many changes, including multiple General Managers in the past few years. She regularly stepped up to do whatever was required to keep the Club operating smoothly, including stints as Acting General Manager on a number of occasions.

a youthful burst of energy to start of the year and we look forward to seeing the team continue to grow and thrive under the guide of General Manager, Robert Vincekovic.

Course Team

The Club welcomed Emma Twartz as the new Finance Manger and joined us from her previous role as the Finance Manager at Kooyonga Golf Club.

Our course maintenance staff have been super stars this year, not only have they been able to present top class playing surfaces in a year with where playing numbers have been at record levels and close contact rules have caused staff shortages, the team also embarked on the first stage of the Course Enhancement Plan. Led by Superintendent Tim Warren and Project Manager, Ryan Van der Veen, the team have put in a massive amount of work to keep our wonderful course at its best while also completing works on the 19th Hole, 2nd Hole nursery, 8th Hole tanks, carry and mounding, completion of the 18th Hole and breaking ground on the 13th.

In continuing changes to the admin team, both James Lorenz and Matt Stone departed at the end of 2021, with James Lorenz and his partner moving to Melbourne to embark on new adventures in marketing and graphic design and Matt also relocating to the Adelaide Hills with his partner and pursuing a passion in Real Estate.

This year has seen a settling of staff movements. We now have a great team with a wide range of skills and experience. The Club has invested in our Vegetation Management Team through the employment of Harry Morbey as our Conservation and Ecosystem Management Apprentice and a new Horticulturalist from Royal Sydney Golf Club, Ben Rolton.

The Club also welcomed Kane Hyams replacing Matt Stone and Jacob Rathjen replacing James Lorenz. Together the new Administration team has provided

was offered a full-time qualified position on staff. We were all very excited that Jamie was awarded the South Australian AFL Sportsready Apprentice of the Year.

Pro Shop Our Pro Shop and Golf Operations Team, led by Shane Robinson, had one of the busiest years on record, with Members and guests returning to golf post Covid restrictions. The team welcomed new PGA Associate, Ryan Reavley. Formerly a top-class footballer and electrician, Ryan will add another professional layer to the services offered by our Golf Operations Team. The coaching staff continue to shine in the golfing industry with several of the team being nominated for awards at the Golf SA awards night. Head Teaching Professional, Sarah King took home SA PGA Coach of the Year – Game Development as well as MyGolf Deliverer of the Year. While Gareth Jones won SA PGA Coach of the Year – High Performance, for his outstanding achievement with the Japan Nation Team and several world class amateur and professional golfers. The Club will miss Sarah for the next several months as she steps away to be an expecting mother and we can’t wait to see her return with her little bundle of joy. PGA member Braeden Kelly will enjoy the opportunity to step into Sarah’s role and will continue her great work with the most successful Women’s Try Golf program in South Australia, while continuing to work closely with his existing clients. Braeden has also had the opportunity to work with Adrian Wickstein in guiding the Men’s Interstate Team to victory in the recent Australian Interstate Series.

50 Year Club The annual 50 Year Club Luncheon was held in November. Along with previous long serving Members, new inductees to the 50 Year Club were Rod Fiske, Maurice Hiern, John Stone, John Rawson and Brian Cahill.

Sadly, we lost a number of longtime Members during the year. Most notably were John Dibben OAM aged 93 and a Member of 65 years and Geoff Gitsham a Member of 61 years, Club Captain 1986-87 and Club President 2009-14. Other long time Members who passed were; Margaret Gordon (Member for 17 years) and John Muller (Honorary Member for 45 years)

Members to the level we have preCOVID. Members are encouraged to support Foundation projects through ongoing fundraising initiatives and other activities. This will ensure we can continue to provide our junior Members with the best development programs in Australia and develop and improve our infrastructure and facilities.

FOUNDATION & HERITAGE FUND The Glenelg Golf Club Foundation is committed to supporting, promoting and encouraging participation in golf through a variety of projects that stimulate development and growth, especially amongst our Junior Members. The reputation of our Junior Golf and Elite Player Development Program continues to be a positive asset to our Club. The annual Foundation Golf Day was held in December 2021, our major fundraising event for the year. The support of our generous Members and Club partners resulted in $42,526 being raised, an exceptional result and a $8,097 increase on last year. In January 2022, our golf operations team ran another successful Junior Development Golf Day, with coaching and golf followed by a casual BBQ in the Clubhouse with parents and friends. Total funds raised by the Foundation during 2021/2022 was $49,066. The Foundation supported our Junior Members by contributing $14,485 towards tournament entry fees, individual lessons, Junior Tigers and high-performance clinics. Unfortunately, COVID-19 related disruptions over the past couple of years has seen a significant reduction and almost inexistent level of golf events to support our juniors. With these disruptions mostly behind us, and junior golf events buzzing once again, this presents greater opportunity to support our junior

GLENELG GOLF CLUB INCORPORATED NOTES TO AND FORMING PART OF THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2022 NOTE 1 - STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES The financial report is a general purpose financial report that has been prepared in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards, Australian Accounting Interpretations, other authoritative pronouncements of the Australian Accounting Standards Board and the requirements of the Associations Incorporations Act of South Australia. The financial report covers the consolidated entity of Glenelg Golf Club Inc (Club) as the individual controlling entity and the controlled entity, Glenelg Golf Links Limited (GGL) incorporated and domiciled in Australia. The financial report of Glenelg Golf Club Inc and the controlled entity and Glenelg Golf Club Inc as an individual controlling entity comply with all Australian equivalents to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in their entirety except where compliance is not mandatory for non-corporate entities. The financial report has been prepared on an accrual basis and is based on historical costs and does not take into account changing money values or, except where stated, current valuations of non-current assets. Cost is based on the fair values of the consideration given in exchange for assets. The principal continuing activity of the Club consisted of: - providing a golf course for member and social play; and - providing bar and dining facilities in the clubhouse The following is a summary of the material accounting policies adopted by the consolidated entity in preparation of the financial report. The accounting policies have been consistently applied unless otherwise stated. a)

Principles of Consolidation The Club controls the share capital of Glenelg Golf Links Limited. The consolidated accounts incorporated the assets and liabilities of Glenelg Golf Links Limited as at 31 March 2022 and the results of GGL for the period then ended. The effects of all transactions between the Club and GGL are eliminated in full. Outside equity interests in the results and group equity are shown separately in the consolidated profit and loss account and balance sheet respectively. The cost of acquiring shares in Glenelg Golf Links Limited have been accounted for as an interest in the land owned by that company and reflected accordingly.

b)

Financial Instruments Financial assets and liabilities are initially recognised when the Club becomes a party to the contractual provisions to the instrument. For Financial assets, this is the date that the Club commits itself to the purchase or sale of the asset. Financial assets are initially measured at fair value, where the values in an active market are used to determine the value. A financial asset can be subsequently measured in three ways; amortised cost, fair value through other comprehensive income, or fair value through profit and loss. A financial asset is subsequently measured at fair value through other comprehensive income as it is irrevocably designated by Committee of Management (note 17b) to be treated in this way, with fair value adjustments to be made against a reserve in equity. As the value of the shares do not impact the business operating performance, the fair value adjustment need not impact operating surplus/deficit. A financial liability can be measured at amortised cost or at fair value through the Profit and Loss. In relation to the Club's loan and Commercial Bill facilities they are measured at the amortised cost and the effective interest rate method is applied. This means the interest costs related to the debt are expensed in the Profit and Loss over the relevant period. Changes to accounting standard AASB 9 have impacted the way that the Glenelg Golf Link Limited shares are to be reported in the 2019-2020, and all future Financial reports. Previously shares had been recorded at purchase price.

c)

Property, Plant and Equipment Each class of property, plant and equipment is carried at cost less, where applicable, any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Property Freehold land is shown at cost. Building is shown at cost less any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses.

GLENELG GOLF CLUB INCORPORATED NOTES TO AND FORMING PART OF THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2022 NOTE 1 - STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES Plant and Equipment The depreciable amount of all fixed assets including building, but excluding freehold land, is depreciated on a straight line basis over their useful lives to the consolidated entity commencing from the time the asset is held ready for use. The depreciation rates for each class of depreciable assets are based on the following estimated useful lives, expressed in years: Category Administration furniture and fittings Bar plant and equipment Catering plant and equipment Clubhouse building Clubhouse other Course buildings Clubhouse plant and equipment Motor vehicles Office equipment Course plant and equipment Entrance road & Carpark Range Equipment d)

Useful Lives 5-11 8-11 7-11 40-50 7-11 4-25 8-11 4-5 5-7.5 4-25 15 5-10

Impairment of Assets At each reporting date, the Committee of Management reviews the carrying values of its assets to determine whether there is any indicators of impairment. If such an indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset, being the higher of the asset's fair value less costs to sell or value in use, is compared to the asset's carrying value. Any excess of the asset's carrying value over its recoverable amount is recognised immediately to the profit and loss statement. Where it is not possible to determine the recoverable amount of an individual asset, the Committee of Management estimates the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs.

e)

Employee Benefits Provision is made for the association's liability for employee benefits arising from services rendered by employees to balance date. Employee entitlements expected to be settled within one year together with entitlements arising from wages and salaries, annual leave and long service leave which will be settled after one year, have been measured at their nominal amount. Other employee entitlements payable later than one year have been measured at the present value of the estimated future cash outflows to be made for those entitlements.

f)

Subscription & Entrance Fee Income Subscription revenue is recognised in the profit and loss statement in the Membership year it relates to. The Membership year runs in-line with the Financial year of the 1st April through to 31st March of the following year. Entrance Fee income has been adjusted to be apportioned to the expected average tenure of the membership. Entrance Fees are put to a liability account (Note 13 - Entrance Fees - Accrued) to be apportioned over future years. A 10 year average has been applied to Provisional, Six Day, Weekday and Company member Entrance Fees. A 5 year average has been applied to Country, Casual and Intermediate member Entrance Fees. Junior Entrance fees are applied at time of invoicing as the spread of these payments is already applied.

g)

Income Tax The Club is exempt from Income Tax in accordance with Section 50-5 of the Income Tax Assessment Act, 1997.

GLENELG GOLF CLUB INCORPORATED NOTES TO AND FORMING PART OF THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2022 NOTE 1 - STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES h)

Inventories Inventories are measured at the lower of cost and net realisable value. No provision has been made for slow moving inventory, but shall be accounted for if required.

i)

Course Redevelopment Expenditure

Expenditure incurred on redevelopment of the course is recognised as an expense in the profit and loss statement as incurred, unless it is capital in nature, in which case it is capitalised in accordance with the capital expenditure definition. j)

Construction - Work In Progress Construction work in progress is stated at the aggregate of contract costs incurred to date and included if applicable, as part of Property, Plant & Equipment.

k)

Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash on hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within short-term borrowings in current liabilities on the balance sheet.

l)

Comparative Figures When required by Accounting Standards, comparative figures have been adjusted to conform to changes in presentation for the current financial year.

m)

Leases - Right of Use Assets The Change to AASB 16: "Leases" became applicable from 1 January 2019 for Leases with more than 12 months remaining. This has an impact on the previously noted Operating Leases the Club holds for Golf Carts and Course Equipment. This has involved the initial transaction to bring on a lease liability discounted to the present value of the remaining lease payments at the commencement date. The interest rate used for the new leases in 20212022 is 2.45% (2020-2021: 3.99%), which is the interest rate applicable to the newest bank contract entered into during the year. Interest and principal are applied on an incremental basis for the remaining life of the lease. A corresponding Right-of-use Asset is to be recorded in the Balance Sheet based on the value of the lease liability recorded. This Right-of-use Asset is depreciated over the lease term or in a straight line basis over the useful life of the asset, whichever is the shortest.

n)

Other Income - Covid-19 Support Payments During the 2020/2021 year, the Federal Government introduced some stimulus programs in response to the impact of COVID-19 on businesses. As part of the programs the Club was eligible for a one off "Cash Flow Boost" of $100,000, with payments spread over the period from April through to September. The Club also qualified for wage subsidies through the Jobkeeper program, payments in relation to this program totalled $571,500. These stimulus amounts have been reported separately and included as Other Income. The wages paid to staff have been reported without deduction of Jobkeeper subsidies and included in the Statement of Comprehensive Income in the departments they relate to. During the 2021/22 year, the Club received wage subsidies for the employment of apprentices amounting to $30,160

o)

Critital Accounting Judgments The directors of the Responsible Entity evaluate judgements incorporated into the financial statements based on historical knowledge and the best available current information.

The Freehold Land at 31st March 2022 is recorded at a carry forward value from prior years. This value will increase as a result of the purchase of equity in Glenelg Golf Links Limited which owns the land on which the golf course is situated. This will also include a reduction applied to reflect the reduction in Share Capital of outside equity interests. During the year there was a comprehensive review of the fixed asset registeer which resulted in reallocation of balances with no overall net effect. As part of this comprehensive review of the fixed asset register, 427 assets were written off. Consolidated 2021-2022 2020-2021 $ $

Appropriate financing is in place, and from time to time the Committee of Management reviews the debt position (and takes action as necessary) to ensure the Club remains viable and can continue as a going concern. The Club's debt and capital includes financial liabilities, supported by financial assets. The bank loans are secured by registered mortgages over the land and this forms an imposition on capital requirements. (Note 10) The committee members effectively manage the Club's capital by assessing the Club's financial risks and adjusting its capital structure in response to changes in these risks and in the market. The responses include the management of debt levels. There have been no changes in the strategy adopted by management to control the capital of the Club since the prior year. This strategy is to ensure that there is sufficient cash to meet trade and sundry payables and borrowings.
