THE CITY AS A LOCAL

WELCOME TO
LISBON USEFUL TIPS 1 - Lisbon pavement is made of stones and sometimes gets slippery, so consider which shoes you will bring. 2 - For transportation, you can get the MRT/tube (metro), bus or train (comboio), as well as tram (electrico). Tram 28 is the most iconic one. The Lisboa Viva card can be used in all of them and topped up with trips or 'pay as go' (zapping) . You can get the card in any metro station.

3- Miradouros offer the best sights/view of the city! Here you can find a good list: www.lisbonlux.com/ lisbon/miradouros.html
The Hills of Lisbon Legend tells that Lisbon was born between hills. Seven giants — São Jorge, São Vicente, São Roque, Santo André, Santa Catarina, Chagas e Sant’Ana — are visible when arriving in Lisbon by river. Graça, the highest of the city, is only shadowed by São Jorge's Castle. Each one has stories to tell, and way up high, the viewpoints (Miradouros) reveal the hidden corners of the city.
LISBON NOT JUST A TOURIST PLACES TO VISIT - Arco da Rua Augusta (you can go to the top and have a nice sight of the city) - Praça do comercio (iconic square) - Torre de Belem (old fortress) - Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (here expect qeues to get in, but even from just the outside is really nice) - Castelo de Sao Jorge (Castle) - Sé de Lisboa (Cathedral) - Avenida da Liberdade - Parque Eduardo Sétimo - Largo do Carmo (here you can fin the Museu Arqueológico do Carmo); AREAS Rossio is the central urban area. Alfama and Graça are hip, central areas close to the castle and catedral. They nice just to walk so you can get the vibe of the city. Parque das Nações is where the 98' internacional exhibition took place. It's nice to have a walk close to the river but its a little far from the center. -
Alternative places to hang out are: - Lx Factory https://ptpt.facebook.com/lxfact ory - Village underground Lisboa http://vulisboa.com - Feira da Ladra (similiar to a 2nd hand market, it happens on Saturdays and its close to the castle). - Santos, Principe real and Rato are nice areas to have a walk as well (they are close to the center) - Embaixada https://ptbr.facebook.com/Emb aixada
