Thank you all for your continued support of Godstowe School during the course of another exciting and very busy term. It’s a shame we saw so much rain but things appear to be on the up. I hope you enjoyed the concert this afternoon and I thank everyone responsible for whatever involvement they may have had.Yet again we have seen an example of how much more atmospheric the JK Theatre is than it once was.
the American Lacrosse Tour and I wish those girls every success on and off the field.

Mrs Wylie
We have had the most wonderful Arts week in Lodge and Nursery. Each year group focussed on a variety of Impressionist artists, reproducing a copy of famous paintings using different mediums. Nursery made a collage of van Gogh’s Sunflowers using lentils, coloured sands and chalk; Beginners looked at Pointillism and have produced wonderful copies of a mixture of Impressionists’ landscapes. Kindergarten children studied Degas’ ballerina sketches and created pictures of ballet dancers using watercolour crayons and chalk. Transition looked at Henri Matisse. They were given a quarter of the picture Red Interior, Still life on a blue table and had to complete the rest themselves. A big thank you to Mrs Huang who came in traditional costume and make up to perform
some Chinese Opera to the children (pictured below). We all found it inspiring. Mrs Lake arranged for a string group to play for us, demonstrating how the harmony of the violins and cellos came together in the piece and girls from Main School came to show us Indian dancing. Thank you to them all of them. From the beginning of the Summer Term, we regret that it will not be possible for children to be collected early at the end of the day to attend out of school clubs. Have a relaxing Easter holiday! We look forward to seeing everyone return in their Summer uniform, boaters and blazers. White ankle socks should be worn by the girls. Please remember to include a named school sun cap in their PE bags.
Useful dates 27th March: Term ends 23rd April: Term begins for boarders 24th April: Term begins for Main School day pupils and Lodge pupils

Thank you to everybody who made Saturday night’s race night a huge success. Between the bar, the curry and the betting the evening raised £467 which is fantastic. Thank you again!
There has been a phenomenal reaction to Festival tickets which went on sale last Friday afternoon. They have been selling fast and it’s great to hear that so many people are looking forward to the event on 29th June. We have also had a wonderful initial response to our request for sponsorship which again is just fabulous and very, very generous; thank you. If you haven’t yet done so you can buy your tickets HERE at any point over the holidays. Remember that the Early Bird rate of £12 per adult and £8 per child is only available until Friday 23rd May but I highly recommend you don’t leave it this late! In addition if you would like to be a sponsor of any part of the festival please click HERE to see the available options. You can also contact friends@godstowe.org for more information. Important Note for Parents of Boarders: Please be aware that your daughter’s housemistress is organising her Festival ticket. Please only use the form for your own tickets and any other family/friends. And finally... … a huge thank you to all the FOG committee members, the Godstowe Rocks committee and all the other parents who have helped us this term. Mufti Day on 2nd May
Don’t forget to collect school vouchers Active kids vouchers can be collected at all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and when ordering groceries online. Godstowe aims to collect enough vouchers to purchase some new equipment for the playground. A collection box can be found in Reception in Main School, and for Lodge please hand your vouchers to Mrs Armstrong.Vouchers can be collected up until 20th May.
Our first Mufti Day next term will be on Friday 2nd May in aid of Tujatane School, details of which were given in Mrs Buckland’s last newsletter. Following suggestions from a number of pupils, our theme for dressing up will be “Hippies.” This, therefore, is an early warning, in order to give everyone time to prepare their outfit! The final Mufti Day of the school year, in aid of Helen and Douglas House hospice, will be an opportunity for everyone to wear home clothes of their own choice. Once again, a huge thankyou for all you generous support this term.
