The Art Exhibition and Fashion Show were both a roaring success last Friday and Saturday. Hoards of parents packed into the JK Theatre on the Friday evening and the girls put on a wonderful show for everyone. Prospective families spilled through the doors on Open Morning and, as the comments sheets revealed, they were very impressed with what they saw. Well done to all the girls and staff who made the event so successful.

Poems of the week By Emiliya Alieva (Fourths) and is inspired by Sophie Qian’s (Uppers) drawing of Mountains from the Art Exhibition. In an Icelandic mountain range, Was a very snowy place, It was covered all by ice, In the shine of the Northern Lights. And the legend said that there; At the bottom of the ice, Were some very little mice Who could cure all diseases. Especially coughs and sneezes.

By Neneh Gardner (Fourths) and is inspired by Eleonore Debs (Fourths) Buddha Oh what a sight! In black and white, Underneath a feeble light. The black as dark as night. How can the white be so bright? The grey in between Makes the face appear so mean. The shading is so sharp; Cuts like glass. Oh what a sight! The Buddha.

By Lily Sokolova (Fourths) and is inspired by Yao Yao Xu’s (Fourths) Eye of Seasons. Rotating around, Like the Earth’s ground Four season’s eye I can see. It is so bright And full of light. So friendly looking at thee. In Winter the clouds of snow Are so bright; so they glow. They are falling like flakes from the sky And in a spiral dance they go Towards the Earth like in a show. When Autumn’s come and let go Of leaves on the branches and blow, The wind by the sea waves, so under the core Of leaves they go like asking for more. In Summer the waves and the shore Sound like whispering, more and more They contrast each other. They play, so lively On the calm bay. Then Spring is when the unicorns come, And even if people might say they are dumb, Unicorns are definitely real. But people don’t know how they feel. Which is why the grass is so bright, The greenest of green, the lightest of light. When unicorns come from the sky, They can light up anyone’s eye!
