What a fantastic way to round of the first half of the Autumn Term: a brilliant Main School Concert yesterday in the new JK Theatre, and the Official Opening of the Sports Hall this afternoon. My thanks to Gabby Logan for doing the honours by cutting the ribbon and giving an inspirational speech about the importance of sport. Well done to all the girls involved in the gym display, it really was impressive. Do be sure to take a look at the Bucks Free Press next Friday.

May I please remind you about two events to put in your diaries for after half term: the Academic Seminar on 7th November 7.30-9pm, and the Senior Schools Exhibition on 22nd November 4-8pm. Both are useful opportunities if you are considering your daughter’s senior school options. More details nearer the time. Have a restful half term – or not as the case may be – see you on the 3rd. Beginners’ theme this week has seen us collecting Autumn ‘treasures’ around the school grounds, making ‘art attack’ pictures using the conkers, leaves and fruit found and illustrating a seasonal poem ‘October’. We gained a huge sense of satisfaction from chopping up and cooking our pumpkin and then enjoying our soup! If they have not done so already, please could Beginners children bring in a photograph of themselves enjoying a ‘celebration’ of any kind. Kindergarten have been learning about healthy eating. They enjoyed designing a mind map to depict the seven types of nutrients in our diet. Transition had an exciting but messy art lesson

Godstowe Teatowels The hoodies and varsity jackets were a huge success this year. Thank you to all those who placed an order and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to collecting them at the Christmas Fair. Also at the Fair this year you will be able to collect, or buy on the day, your Godstowe teatowel. All the children in both Main School and Lodge have done a self-portrait which will be incorporated into a tea-towel for Main School and a separate one for Lodge. They will be available for £3.50 each or three for £10.You can place your order by going to www.godstowe.org/ teatowels and filling out the form. Collection will be at the Fair on Saturday 30th November. Christmas Tipple I can also now tell you a bit more about the Christmas Tipple that will be available for preordering in the run up to the Fair. Specially selected for Friends of Godstowe we are delighted to be offering a tawny port and two outstanding sparkling wines in Godstowe branded jute gift bags, complete with tasting notes. The final details are still being pulled together but

after half term we will be able to give you all the information and take online orders. Christmas Fair items needed This half term please may we ask you to take a look around your house for any soft toys that you no longer have a need for. The ever popular soft toy tombola makes a return to the Fair again this year and all donations will be welcomed and appreciated. Equally for Secret Santa we would love to take off your hands any good quality, small toys both old and new. And finally, may we please request that you start saving your jam jars! As in previous years we are asking you to kindly donate jam jars filled with toys, sweets, stationery items, beads and other age appropriate bits and pieces. We will also accept clean and empty jars as they will get filled! Please look out for donation boxes in Lodge and Main School Reception after half term.

Macaroni Cheese By Cleo Sloggett UIIIM I smelt a smell, it’s hard to tell Just quite what it is. Could it be curry or fish? My favourite dish, But it might be chips or even Chinese, Pretty please. OH NO.
