Thank you all for your patience. At last the new car park is up and running and this has already made quite a difference to the availability of space in front of the school. In fact, for the first time in years, some parents have actually made positive comments about parking!

Heating on, heating off, heating on, air-con on, air-con off – what’s going on? It’s certainly been a mixed bag this week. I look forward to our first lacrosse match tomorrow and I am delighted the netball girls got off to such a good start against Wycombe Abbey with a triple victory in the Fourths.

Some of the girls and boys up at Lodge have now enjoyed their first lessons in the sports hall, dance studio and theatre. They all seem very excited and highly impressed. Certainly the staff are delighted with the new facilities and are looking forward to organising best use so that everyone can enjoy what’s on offer.

A reminder for boarding parents that we have our first exeat next Friday. Could you also keep in your diary a note of the official opening of the Sports Hall about which you will hear more soon – Friday 25th October, 3.30pm, just before half term. Onwards and upwards, have a good weekend. DG

Lodge has had a busy week with the start of our After School Clubs. We hope that the children are all enjoying their choices and the use of the Jubilee Sports Hall for ballet, judo and gym. Transition children are still taking time to adjust to the step up to Transition. When possible it is best for children to practise their spellings and times tables daily. May we remind you that yellow spellings/tables books should be brought in to school each Friday for the week’s new spellings to be copied into. Please can they

Kindergarten have been consolidating teen numbers and, after analysing ‘The Garden’, have been writing a story board with short captions underneath. In art they have been using crayons to produce a still life drawing of vegetables and fruit. Beginners brought in photographs of themselves when they were a baby and have been talking about how and if they have changed.

The Second Hand Uniform Shop needs you! The dynamic duo of Anke Exner and Fiona Tchen are continuing to run the Second Hand Uniform Shop, which provides a valuable service to parents and also raises fantastic funds for the Friends of Godstowe. They are looking for parents to assist in serving at the shop on a regular basis, whether it’s one hour a week or once a month. Absolutely no training is required, just a willingness to help parents locate what they need. It’s a great way to meet parents throughout the school and the more volunteers we get, the fewer stints each volunteer will be required for.
