As we approach our first exeat I am delighted to tell you that our official opening of the Sports Hall date is now confirmed as Friday 25th October at 3.30pm, before pick up for half term. Very kindly, Mrs Gabby Logan (a new Godstowe parent) has agreed to do the honours and I will be providing you with a few more details when they have been finalised. Please note, therefore, that there is likely to be a slight alteration to the timing of the half term music concert, which will either take place on
the Thursday afternoon, or Friday morning, after drop off. Watch this space. We have enjoyed a very busy and happy opening three weeks to the new school year and I would like to thank all of you and the staff for helping ensure that this was the case. It is not always easy in September caring for so many new children but our existing girls and boys are so good at welcoming newcomers and this is always commented on by the parents. Have a good weekend. DG

Instead we will be running offers on Tea Towels designed by the children, the ever popular Hoodies in four different colours and, for the first time, we will be offering a Varsity jacket in 10 colours! Samples of both the Hoodies and Varsity jackets will be available for viewing and trying on from Tuesday 1st October in Lodge and Main School Reception. These will also be available to order from Tuesday 1st October via an online order form, so keep your eyes on your inbox for the details. The deadline for orders and payment will be 21st October. We would also like to say thank you to the Friends for collecting and counting all the Sainsbury’s vouchers which have been exchanged for more scooters for our playground. The children thoroughly enjoy racing around the playground on them.

Godstowe Quiz
Parody of Sonnet 18 By Milly Cranmer IVH Shall I compare thee to Godstowe school? Thou art more red, black and sporty: Rough winds do not shake the classroom walls, And school term’s lease hath all too short a date. Sometimes thy work seems far too complex, And teachers, of which there are many; Lose patience not, nor destroy thy spirit. Thy run, jump and catch on thy sports field; When in eternal pain or sadness Mr Gainer comes to thee, He is sure to raise thy spirits and place a smile on thee. Never does thine school turn boring, most certainly not with Miss B, Thy friends are here beside thee during work and play: So long as pupils are happy, confident and successful, they will achieve, So long as teachers and friends support each other, we will be one family.
Harvest Festival Mrs Buckland: On Tuesday, 8th October, Main School will be celebrating Harvest in their Assembly (girls and staff only). This year we are supporting Chiltern Food Bank and ‘One Can Trust’ (onecantrust.org.uk), the Mayor of High Wycombe’s charity of the year. We hope you will join us in helping those in crisis by providing items from their shopping list.

Geography Competition
6 What is the largest lake in Europe?
Mrs Cansdale: During the summer holidays the girls had the opportunity to enter a voluntary Geography competition. They had a choice of mapping anywhere they had visited (their own home or a holiday destination) or taking a photo of the most interesting and unusual geographical feature they could find. There were many wonderful entries. The girls were extremely creative and came up with some fascinating geographical features as well as some charming maps.
7 How many acres are there in a square mile? 8 Who was the supreme deity of Greek mythology? 9 What is the world’s largest species of antelope? 10 Who has been re-elected as the Chancellor of Germany?
Picking a winner is always a challenge but this year the overall winner was Ella Mabon, with Eve Bellamy and Poppy-Joy Adams as runners up. Remember to look out for next year’s summer challenge!
