throughout Porsche Land that AZPCA Region autocross events are the Premier of all autocross events. Speaking of being successful, our events would be not be successful if it wasn’t for the hard work of the team of many volunteers. The Autocross Chairs whole-heartedly would like to thank both the setup and teardown crews for making the events throughout the season a success. The setup crews consisted of Kim K., Rick A., William P., Jim E., Dane T., Chris M., Ken O, and Ken M. The teardown crews consisted of Ealing J., Jonathan B., Eric S., Dane T., Scott O., and Marc T. If I forgot someone, I am truly sorry. And from the Autox Co-Chairs we also wish to thank Ken M. for his creative Going Places articles on our events! During the summer break, the Autocross Chairs have elected to try something new, just to keep the competitive spirit in high gear during the hot summer months, “Bench Racing” for the autocross season attending members who would like to join in on the true aspect of the auto crossing sport, ‘The Social Aspect.” The Autocross Chairs are tentatively planning this bench racing event for July 30, 2022, possibly to be held at Octane Raceway/ Mavrix, on Talking Stick Way, in Scottsdale. No doubt there will be a lot of lies swapped at this event. This will be a lot of fun to be amongst our autocross friends.
The next AZPCA Region autocross event is scheduled for October 15, 2022, at AMP. The registration is well underway and already filling up so you better sign up before you end on the waitlist. The Region will host a two-day autocross event in November. On Friday, November 11, 2022 (Veterans Day), the Autocross Chairs will host a special event (Trackcross) which will be conducted on the AMP Road Course. This event will be conducted with safety in mind whereas, the course will be designed utilizing the same cones that are used on the autocross course and cars will be spaced on a single lap format. This is not a Driver’s Education (DE) or a Time Trial event, no passing will be allowed. It is just a different style autocross event held on a portion of the AMP Road Course. The next day, Saturday, November 12, 2022, will be a regular autocross event held on the AMP Autocross Skidpad. These two events are separate events and require separate entries and speedwaivers. When you log-on to your MSR Account you will notice that each day is separately listed and if you’re going to sign up for both days you will need to sign up twice and complete both Speedwaivers, and the AMP waivers. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Autocross Chairs at autocross@az.pca.org. Enjoy your summer and don’t forget about the other fun-packed Region events.
