JOHN LODGE DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED
John Lodge, legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, and inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, released his latest studio album Days of Future Passed – My Sojourn on CD, with a special Limited Edition 180 Gram.
Over the last year John has been performing his version of this ground breaking album, lovingly recreating it in full symphonic glory, and the reaction from audiences then led naturally to a studio recording. It was originally released in the UK, but following critical and fan acclaim, and John’s passion around the release, he is delighted to finally be releasing the album in the USA. The recording tells the story of ‘a day in the life’, and includes “Nights in White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon”, and “Peak Hour”, together with a very special recording of “Late Lament” by the late Graeme Edge and performances by Jon Davison of YES.
John will be back on tour in July where you will be taken back in time as you experience the album live, in its entirety, together with a set of Moody Blues classic hits. He’s appearing July 17 at Patchogue Theatre and July 20 Tarrytown Music Hall, Tarrytown, NY

WHAT’S ON JOSH RITTER’S MIND?
Josh Ritter is coming back to Port Washington on June 28! While his last Landmark show focused on his lesser-known tunes, his upcoming performance is a special Works In Progress + Songs You Know solo show. Get ready to sing along to your favorite songs and catch a sneak peek of some new material! Here’s a note from Ritter about the event: “I’ve realized that a necessary part of working on records is finding the material that hangs together. I write A LOT of songs, and not all of them play nicely with the others. The most useful (and fun) way to find a song’s heart is to periodically play some shows where I’m able to get it all out there and see how I feel about them. I’m really looking forward to these shows for the chance to get all these songs, and some that are old friends, out on the table for a good time.” Box Office Hours: Mon - Fri, 12 Noon to 5 p.m. 516.767.6444 Email: boxoffice@landmarkonmainstreet.org | www. landmarkonmainstreet.org | Landmark on Main Street | 232 Main Street, Port Washington.

MONSTER ON THE LOOSE
Watch out, there’s a monster on the loose. But happily, it’s a friendly monster.
You have to hand it to Monster Music’s Brian Reardon. Already Levittown’s leading musical instrument store for many years, Monster is opening a 2nd location in Suffolk to keep up with the tremendous growth of Long Island music. More about this in future issues.
Meanwhile, back at Monster Central, there are two big events coming up that you won’t want to miss. On June 20th at 8pm, they are having an event to promote the new Monster Music exclusive Gil Parris Signature Club King HB in Silverburst. Gil will be performing and answering questions along with Reverend Guitars CEO Ken Haas. And then, to prove that Summer is finally here, Monster will be holding their annual ukulele luau with performances from Russ Amundsen, group lessons, Group Jams, Mai-Tais , Hawaiian pizza and more. Rumors that Brian will do the hula in a grass skirt have not been confirmed at press time. For more info on either event, call 516-735-3594 but talk softly...the Monster may be sleeping.
SPORTS BEAT
You can’t blame Mets fans for sensing what Yogi Berra called “deja vu all over again,” as the 2024 campaign was resembling the disastrous 2023 season at the one-third mark. When the Mets got good hitting in games, they got lousy pitching, and vice versa. It was not just losing games. Mets fans are used to that. It was, as SNY Mets analyst Ron Darling phrased it, the gut-wrenching way they snatched defeats from the jaws of victories.
As per custom, it was an injury to a key player which started the negative momentum rolling. In mid-April, catcher Francisco Alvarez broke his thumb when he lost his balance turning first base. Alvarez, in his sophomore season, had become the Mets’ main power threat after Pete Alonso, and had quickly become one of baseball’s best defensive catchers. As an aside, he also worked at learning English. His replacements, Tomas Nido and Omar Narvaez, are not major league caliber, even though Nido has shown a little more pop in his bat.
Francisco Lindor struggled through April and May the same way he did in 2023. Lindor told the press during the Mets’ late May skid he was having trouble seeing the baseball. It was so bad he stood like a statue on a ball thrown right down the heart of the plate by SF Giants pitcher Ryan Hamilton. Lindor said he had a better chance of drawing a walk than getting a hit. He wears contact lenses, but his prescription must have changed. He has an optical endorsement deal with Oakley. They have made a pair of prescription goggles for him which hopefully alleviates the problem.
Many Mets fans are blowing off steam at manager
Carlos Mendoza and team president of baseball operations David Stearns, but the most culpable person for their team’s poor roster is former general manager Billy Eppler. The inept Eppler traded reliever Colin Holderman to the Pirates for disappointing designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach. He also refused to speak with Seth Lugo’s agent when Lugo became a free agent after the 2022 season. Holderman has been a superb relief pitcher for the Pirates, while Lugo is a bona fide Cy Young Award contender as a starter for the Kansas City Royals. Nice going, Billy. Yankees manager Aaron Boone told me he speaks with his former bench coach, and current Mets manager, Carlos Mendoza, every other day. Aside
from giving him a ringing endorsement as the right man for the Mets job, Boone was understandably tight-lipped about the content of their conversations. Judging by Boone’s facial expression, I have a feeling Mendoza was expressing his displeasure with his underachieving team.
The Yankees are playing their best baseball in years, so their fans can sit back and enjoy Peacock’s three-part documentary on when the last time the Bronx Bombers were cellar dwellers titled ‘Bronx Zoo ‘90.” The series is based on the memories of NY Post baseball columnist Joel Sherman who reminisced about the team he covered during the 2020 pandemic.
There is no shortage of characters such as pedophile outfielder Mel Hall, and offbeat pitcher Pascual Perez who would meet a tragic ending. The bizarre interplay between owner George “The Boss” Steinbrenner, star outfielder Dave Winfield, and degenerate gambler Howie Spira is worthy of its own documentary. Steinbrenner not only belittled Winfield, but also one of the most beloved Yankees of all-time, Don Mattingly. It is fun seeing clips of former local sports anchors Carl Cherkin, Warner Wolf, Russ Salzberg, and Len Berman commenting on the chaos in the Bronx 34 years ago.
Josef Newgarden became the first driver to win the Indy 500 in consecutive years since Helio Castroneves accomplished the feat 22 years ago. Castroneves is still at it as he finished 20th in this year’s race. Newgarden edged Mexico’s Pato O’Ward in the last lap to win. O’Ward was so devastated he dropped an f-bomb in his post-race
interview with NBC Sports.
The movers and shakers of the sports broadcasting world came together for the 45th annual Sports Emmy Awards last month. Longtime CBS “NFL Today” host, and one of the nicest men you will ever meet, James Brown, was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Noah Eagle, the son of the best play-by-play voices ever, Ian Eagle, won the Sports Emmy for Best Emerging Talent. Noah has won raves for his work on Nickelodeon’s NFL telecasts, and for his work on NBC for Notre Dame football. Interestingly, he has won more national Emmys than his dad, although Ian has several local Emmy Awards for his work on Nets telecasts.
Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez was a presenter at the 2024 Sports Emmys. He told me he is in communication with Mets closer Edwin Diaz. “Sugar is 100% healthy, but he is a bit nervous about exhibiting the same pressure on his legs as he did before the World Baseball Classic injury in 2023 which caused
him to miss last season. He is also rusty about release points and ball grip. Mets management and fans will have to be patient,” he advised.
There are few places nicer to watch a baseball game than San Diego’s Petco Park. The Mets will be taking on the Padres the weekend of August 23-25. JetBlue has daily flights to San Diego from JFK. The Hyatt Regency La Jolla is my preferred hotel because of its junior Olympic-sized pools, reasonable rates, and fine amenities. It is located within walking distance of the San Diego Trolley which takes you to the ballpark, so you do not have to drive.

Records. The band’s first two studio albums, Nothing’s Shocking (1988) and Ritual de lo Habitual (1990), were released to widespread critical acclaim, and an increasing cult fanbase. As a result, Jane’s Addiction became icons of what Farrell dubbed the “Alternative Nation.” The band’s initial farewell tour, in 1991, launched the first Lollapalooza, which has since become a perennial alternative rock festival.

SUMMER STAGES:
–ON AND OFF BROADWAY
by Jane Klain“Here There Are Blueberries” might have a clumsy title, but the latest work by the Tectonic Theater Project’s Moises Kaufman and Amanda Gronich is an unforgettable, haunting theater experience. As with their “Laramie Project,” “Blueberries” is documentary-theater which uses interview transcripts and factual narrative to make history come alive. In 2007 an archivist at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum was contacted by a former U.S. intelligence officer with an album featuring 116 photos of SS officers, aides and women support staff frolicking during their leisure time at Auschwitz. Like a detective, the curator unearthed the identity of the individuals in the photos, setting off repercussions among the descendants of the concentration camp personnel and illuminating the banality of evil. (Extended to June 30.) (New York Theatre Workshop) herethereareblueberries.com
The campiest of camp hits “Oh, Mary!” is moving from its sold-out offBroadway engagement to Broadway. The hilarious Cole Escola wrote and stars as a booze-obsessed, petulant Mary Todd Lincoln, determined to become a cabaret star. Conrad Ricamora plays a closeted Abraham Lincoln with eyes for his assistant (Tony Macht). Mary’s acting Teacher (James Scully) is the object of both Lincolns’ affections and Bianca Leigh plays Mary’s Chaperone all under the crisp, madcap direction of Sam Pinkleton. “Oh, Mary!” is a hoot! (Begins a 12week limited engagement June 26.) (Lyceum Theatre) ohmaryplay.com
Tony-winner Kenny Leon helms the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Broadway revival of Samm-Art Williams’ “Home.” Reviewing the Negro Ensemble Company’s premiere of “Home” in 1979, the New York Times celebrated it as a “Freshet of good will, a celebration of the indomitability of man, a call to return to the earth.” Tory Kittles stars as Cephus Miles, a man in 1950s North Carolina who grapples with identity and searches for a place to belong when his true love marries someone else and his world falls apart. Brittany Inge, Stori Ayers, and Kittles play over 40 characters in this uplifting coming-of-age tale. BADFISH TOUR WITH ORIGINAL MUSIC
By Mario TarradellBadfish is a vibe. Badfish is a sonic house party complete with plenty of gyrating fans sipping libations and enjoying other various extra-curricular activities. Badfish is feel-good music.
For 22 years, the Rhode Island-based band – Joel Hanks on bass, Scott Begin on drums, Pat Downes on vocals and guitar, Danny Torgersen on horns, keyboards, and guitars – have successfully paid tribute to Sublime, the short-lived but influential California group that brought ska-punk and reggae-rock to the mainstream. Badfish’s heartfelt celebration of Sublime’s musical spirit and legacy is so sought-after that they’ve headlined theaters, sold out shows, and played 15-20 gigs a month.
But now, Badfish is more. After two decades of Sublime reverence, it’s time for Badfish originality. Badfish is releasing their own songs in early 2024. Their Sublime repertoire will be augmented by some fresh original tracks that promise to blend seamlessly together.
And now it’s time for the “High With You” tour. Catch Badfish playing the best of Sublime and the best of Badfish in concert June 27 for The Summer Club Concert Series at the Ravel Hotel, 8-08 Queens Plaza South in Long Island City. Tickets are $25 & up; tables start at $816; cabanas start at $1085; 21 & over, please.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Photo by JenaTHE SEX WAS GOOD UNTIL IT WASN’T
Vancouver-based pop artist Xana is gearing up to hit the road all summer throughout the U.S. On The Sex Was Good Tour. Tickets on sale now via xanaofficial. com/tour, including a stop at Milwaukee’s Summerfest on June 29 where she’s set to perform.
Xana’s intimate, empowering sophomore album The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t is out now. The collection sees Xana confront dark truths and deep pain as she learns to process and heal past wounds through shimmering melodies, captivating vocals and candid, clever lyricism.
The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t goes where Xana has never gone before, touching on incredibly personal–and at times traumatic–subject matter. Over fifteen vivid tracks, she puts herself in the driver’s seat, taking charge of her own story while offering listeners a place of refuge and freedom. Unbound to a single genre or a particular moment, the album unapologetically builds a heartfelt world that is as explosive and bright as it is profound and dark, providing the necessary space for all–Xana included–to heal. The artist sees this body of work as a refined, fully formed evolution from her past work, in part due to her brutally honest songwriting and the free-flowing trust built with producers Liam Moes and

SQUEEZE ON TOUR
Squeeze will return to America this August to celebrate their upcoming 50th anniversary alongside fellow New Wave pioneer Boy George. The upcoming tour follows on the heels of their 2023 North American tour with The Psychedelic Furs. They’ll be appearing Sept 17th at Summer Stage at Central Park.

ONEIDA NEW LP ‘EXPENSIVE AIR’
A song is a song until it isn’t, until it’s pushed to its limits and beyond to become harder, faster and more dissonant. The music on Oneida’s 17th full-length album, Expensive Air, all started as tightly structured, melodic rock songs—very much in line with the non-stop bangers of Success from 2022—but along the way, they changed.
Bobby Matador sketched the structures of these songs from his home base in Boston, then sent the demos to Oneida’s New York contingent: Kid Millions, Hanoi Jane, Shahin Motia and Barry London.
Oneida recorded Expensive Air in three sessions scattered across 2023, convening at Colin Marston’s Thousand Caves studio in Woodhaven, Queens, whenever they had a few songs ready. Marston and the band mixed the album in February 2024 at Menegroth. They’re appearing July 7th at TV Eye in Ridgewood, Queens for their album release show.
Fueled by the celebrated songwriting partnership of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, the band first blasted to the forefront of the U.K. music scene during the height of the punk revolution. With melodic hooks that harkened back to the 60’s British Invasion, Squeeze scored a number of hits during the late 1970s, with “Take Me, I’m Yours”, “Cool for Cats”, “Up the Junction” and “Slap and Tickle” all reaching the UK Top 40. The band made an indelible mark on the U.S., too, with songs like “Tempted” and “Pulling Mussels from a Shell” becoming iconic hits of the 1980s. Not ones to sit idle, Glenn and Chris are currently in the studio recording two albums due for release in early 2025. The band’s upcoming tour will feature co-founding members Difford and Tilbrook, as well as keyboardist Stephen Large, drummer Simon Hanson, percussionist/backing vocalist Steve Smith, pedal/lap steel guitarist Melvin Duffy, and bassist Owen Biddle. The newest member of Squeeze’s lineup, Biddle previously played bass for The Roots.
THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT FALL TOUR
The String Cheese Incident announced their 2024 Fall Tour. The first leg kicks off at Bender Jamboree in Las Vegas, NV, launching right into fresh dates beginning September 18 with a rare stop in Oklahoma City, followed by stops in Kansas City, Milwaukee, Detroit and Louisville. The Halloween-focused second leg of the tour starts a Suwannee Hulaween, moving northeast into the newly opened Paramount Theater in Brooklyn and continuing on to Philadelphia. The run will end with two nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester November 1 and 2.
Throughout the band’s 30+ year career, they have become known for their immersive live show experience that pushes genre, and experiential boundaries time and again. The Colorado-bred six-piece employs their expansive cross-genre live shows incorporating everything from bluegrass to dubstep to psychedelia with equal parts abandon and ingenuity—a feat that’s found them sharing stages with such wide-ranging artists as Lauryn Hill, Skrillex, James Brown, Billy Strings, Perry Farrell, Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown Band, and more.
ASIA HEAT OF THE MOMENT TOUR
Asia announced The Heat of The Moment Tour, headlined by Asia and also featuring Focus, Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash and Curved Air and MC’d by artist Roger Dean. The tour will commence on 3rd July 2024 and will incorporate 21 dates across the USA and Canada. The tour has been masterminded by rock music keyboard legend and original Asia member, Geoff Downes (Buggles, Asia, Yes).
Asia was the biggest selling album of 1982, number 1 on Billboard for 9 weeks and pioneers of the MTV era! Downes’ brand new iteration of Asia first began to evolve last Summer, at the concert held in memory of late lead singer, songwriter and bassist, John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, UK, Asia, John Wetton Band, Icon). Downes invited old friend John Mitchell and new-comer Harry Whitley to join him on stage to celebrate Wetton’s life by performing some of the classic Asia hits. Such was the reception to their set, that Downes wondered if something magical was beginning to take shape.
Each performance on the tour will be MC’d by legendary artist Roger Dean. Dean’s artwork is synonymous with the music of the time and stands to represent the very best of British rock music. They’ll be appearing on Sunday, July 7th at The Paramount, Huntington.

National touring artist Ashley Wineland released her single, “Crank It Up,” written by Steven McEwan (Chris Stapleton, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, and Marti Frederiksen). Marti, known for co-writing and producing hits crossing all genres with some of the world’s best icons like Mick Jagger, Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Ozzy Osbourne, Daughtry, and more, produces “Crank It Up.”

T.G. SHEPPARD & KELLY LANG’S “BECAUSE
YOU LOVED ME”
Country music star T.G. Sheppard and singer-songwriter and author Kelly Lang released their new single and Celine Dion classic “Because You Loved Me”. This track will be included on their upcoming duets album, Chemistry: The Duets Collection. Premiered by RFD, this track is the third song to be released from their upcoming album. Sheppard and Lang have recently released singles including “You’re Still The One” and “Addicted to You.”
“Kelly and I felt that the timing was right to record a duet version of this classic Celine Dion hit,” shares Sheppard. “The lyrics embody the feelings and emotions that we so strongly feel for each other. We hope that our version will find that there are others out there that might have the same feelings for each other as we do.”

MEGAN MORONEY “NEVER LEFT ME”
Atlantic Records has released “Never Left Me” by Country’s latest “it” girl and multi-platinum artist-songwriter Megan Moroney, marking the latest single from the thunderous Twisters: The Album, the star-studded musical companion to the new adrenaline-pumping, big-screen thrill ride, Twisters, from Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Amblin Entertainment. One of Country’s biggest breakout stars in recent years, Megan Moroney first burst onto the scene with her RIAA 2X PLATINUM hit single “Tennessee Orange” — an immediate smash showcasing her true-to-life storytelling, unforgettable vocals, and strong-minded yet fiercely sensitive point of view.
Written by the newly named ACM New Female Artist of the Year alongside Connie Harrington, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jessi Alexander, the Kristian Bush-produced song drips in nostalgia underscoring how home is where the heart is. Twisters, a current-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, and an ensemble cast that includes Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane and more. Twisters: The Album arrives in stores and at all online retailers on Friday, July 19th in conjunction with the theatrical release of the film.
WOMEN WHO ROCK
LA folk-pop band Trousdale are about to be back on the road for their Still Out Of My Mind Tour. Beginning with a monumental performance at Bonnaroo they will go on to join The Teskey Brothers for a handful of dates before playing at Green River Festival in Massachusetts. Trousdale’s DC show sold out months in advance with more shows nearly sold out.
Friday, June 7th, the band released “If I’m Honest (Live From LA),” recorded at El Rey Theatre. Capturing the ungovernable energy of the audience, the live version of “If I’m Honest” is the amped up older sister of the studio version. With Quinn D’Andrea, Georgia Greene, and Lauren Jones’ masterful harmonies at the forefront, through headphones the listener can understand the magnitude of a Trousdale live show.
They’re appearing June 19th at The Brooklyn Paramount Theater. For more information on Trousdale, visit: Website | Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music
MARSHA AMBROSIUS NEW ALBUM CASABLANCO
Marsha Ambrosius announced the June 28 release date of her new album CASABLANCO. Via Aftermath/Interscope Records. Executive produced by hip-hop and producing legend Dr. Dre, the R&B hitmaker’s first studio album since 2018 includes the recent hit singles “One Night Stand” and “The Greatest.” The project began when Dre asked Ambrosius to lend her vocals to some tracks he was working on. In a matter of weeks, they both decided to create an album together. By the 2023 Soul Train Awards, the British songstress surprised fans with an update on the project. “Check out the credits, Dr. Dre,” Ambrosius said at the time.
From her time in R&B outfit Floetry to her solo career, Ambrosius has captured the imaginations of fans with her captivating voice and relatable lyrics. With singles like “Far Away,” “Run,” and “Late Nights & Early Mornings,” she shared the raw, intoxicating feelings of loss, heartache, and true connection. And that does not even begin to touch upon her important contribution as a songwriter, crafting tracks for the likes of Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Solange, and H.E.R.
“Desperation.” More vibrantly sculptural than much of her previous work, Living Thing was written through the tumultuous eyes of 2020 and recorded with longtime collaborator and friend Shane Leonard.
Tivel recently signed with Crossover Touring (Bonny Light Horseman, The Tallest Man On Earth, Watchhouse) to bring the new songs on the road. Her newly announced album release tour includes dates with Blitzen Trapper and appearances at Calgary Folk Festival and Pickathon.
Living Thing is Tivel’s sixth studio full-length of all new, original material. Last year, she shared an unadorned acoustic version of Outsiders as has become her habit for each new record. She previously released Blue World in 2021 — a reimagined collection of songs from previous albums recorded live in sparse and experimental trio format, just keys, percussion, and vocals.
LAUREN MINEAR RELEASES CHASING DAYLIGHT
One of the central themes on Lauren Minear’s sophomore album, Chasing Daylight, is the idea that healing is a process of enlightenment and self-discovery. This may be esoteric to some. But Minear – like many musicians – simply writes about what she knows. Minear has an undeniable skill for crafting songs that beautifully capture the human condition. This comes, at least in part, from another skill – the one she formerly honed as a trained psychotherapist, guiding patients through the gorges of their own minds.
Chasing Daylight, Minear’s new album, is available via all DSPs. Chasing Daylight features five previously released singles: “The Way it Was,” “Chasing Daylight,” “The Sun,” “Real Me,” and “High.” Minear released an accompanying video for each single. Together, these videos illustrate the album’s theme.
“The five videos take place over the course of a day, beginning pre-dawn, and moving toward sunset (magic hour),” explains Minear. “Each outfit that the protagonist tries on is a different color, moving from black to purple, through all spectrums of light.
Chasing Daylight features four additional tracks: “Bone Tired,” “Breathing Out,” “Fold Into Yourself,” and “Heart & Soul.
BECKY HILL’S ALBUM BELIEVE ME NOW?
Becky Hill unveiled her second album Believe Me Now? Via Astralwerks – Believe Me Now? has delivered Becky’s latest UK Top 10 smash “Disconnect” (with Chase & Status) as well as US Dance Radio #1 hits “Side Effects” and “Never Be Alone” (withSonny Fodera), which was also her 22nd UK Top 40 track to date (as artist and writer). The twotime BRIT Award and Radio1 Dance Award winner launched the album alongside new single “Multiply.”
and
The album opens with “True Colours” (featuring Self Esteem), a first-hand reflection on sexual assault that aims to empower other people to speak out about their own experiences. As well as her recent singles, completed by “Outside of Love” and “Right Here”, the album introduces a wealth of essential new material. Highlights includes the future house banger and imminent summer dance floor-filler “Multiply”, the punchy-synths and rave-centric energy of the MNEK co-write “Darkest Hour” and the throwback mid-'00s vibes-meets-piano-house infectiousness of “Keep Holding On”, assisted by Toddla T.
ANNA TIVEL’S LIVING THING Portland, Oregon-based artist Anna Tivel returned with her sixth studio album, Living Thing, via Fluff & Gravy Records (Margo Cilker, Kassi Valazza, Jeffrey Martin), following the release of three well-received singles: “Disposable Camera,” “Bluebird,”
