The ATL Starts Here
There’s a certain Southside feeling that you get the moment you land here in the District. It’s a flavor, a color, a vibe. In the cities surrounding Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, you’ll find it in the world-class restaurants and authentic arts scene, the stunning wooded scenery and historic architecture, the railroad tracks and bustling stations. It’s painted on walls throughout College Park, Hapeville and Union City. No matter where you’re from or how you get here, you’re invited to soak it in.
All the fun, none of the hassle
Despite its relaxed attitude, the ATL Airport District is raising the bar on Atlanta’s celebrated efficiency and convenience. First, the District is even closer to Atlanta’s airport than Atlanta is, with thousands of hotel rooms offering complimentary airport shuttle service, plus a free 24/7 ATL SkyTrain from the airport to Gateway Center campus and rental cars. Everything you need is accessible either on foot, by MARTA, or with an easy drive: restaurants, shopping, art, music, theater, attractions, activities and sports. Being located at the convergence of several interstate highways has its advantages, too, like access to Downtown, Midtown, Decatur, Buckhead, Perimeter and beyond.
Lots to do in the District
Walk mural-lined main streets, take in history old and new, and catch a show or sporting event right here. Don’t miss the one-of-a-kind attractions, beautiful parks and playgrounds, skateparks, historic golf course, and invigorating yoga and wellness studios. And thanks to temperate year-round weather, the District is always alive with festivals and events. Check the calendar at ATLdistrict.com for Spin the District cycling races/block parties, classic car shows, family festivals, music events, holiday celebrations and more—almost all free to attend.
A deep-rooted, genuine and inclusive community, College Park is Atlanta’s gateway to the world. The city offers the best of Southern hospitality with more than 5,000 hotel rooms and an ample supply of eateries, from homegrown to high class, including cuisine from the American South, Jamaica, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, West Africa, New Orleans and beyond.
Three celebrated teams call College Park’s Gateway Center Arena home: the Atlanta Dream (WNBA basketball), the College Park Skyhawks (NBA G-League) and LOVB Atlanta (women’s professional volleyball). Pro Tip: Fans traveling by MARTA can get off at Airport Station and take the free ATL SkyTrain across to the Arena, day or night.

When was the last time you tried something new? Come on down to the Southside to check out the Spin the District cycling series starting April 11th in the ATL Airport District. If it isn’t on your calendar, it definitely should be! Spin is in its seventh year running and the party gets bigger every time. These bike races are hosted by the ATL Airport District Convention & Visitors Bureau as a way to celebrate our community, show o everything the Southside has to o er, and spotlight the local cycling scene.
A criterium – a closed course race on city streets - is America’s preferred version of cycling fever. Instead of a long chess game over multiple hours, crits take all the best parts and boil them down. It’s

like Formula 1 in Lycra, on a bicycle. The courses are about one mile long and riders complete as many laps as they need to reach approximately one hour of ride time with speeds regularly reaching 25-35mph. It’s pretty exciting to be a spectator; you can stand as close to the action as you want and see the riders pass by the same spot every 2-3 minutes.
Being a spectator at Spin the District gives you all the benefits of the event without any of the risks of racing. Running April 11th in Hapeville, April 29th in Union City and May 4th in College Park – Spin the District is an annual three-race series that plays a part in two of the biggest criterium series in the country, USA Crits and Speed Week. The reason these races are so popular is because they’re about more than just the sport of cycling. Whether it’s a bike race with a street festival or a festival with a bike race on the side, it’s a heck of a lot of fun.
Each race has a distinct flavor of music, food

trucks, beer and family-friendly activities. Racing starts with the lower categories and builds up to the pro men and women as the sun goes down and the party gets cranked. There’s an intermission for the free kids’ race in the middle to give you time to breathe – unless you’re a parent! It’s the perfect opening act before some serious characters take to the line. It’s sure to make you smile and remind everyone else why they’re there. Despite the expensive bikes and obvious rivalries, this sport is just as much about hootin’ and hollerin’ as it is about winning.
Hapeville, Union City and College Park are all just a couple minutes from downtown Atlanta but they each have their own vibe, their own history and their own role in Spin the District. Hapeville will open the series as an up-and-coming arts district tucked neatly north of the airport. It’s a wicked fast eight-corner course that zigs as fast as it zags. Come for the dizzying speeds and stay for the Friday night street party. Bring the whole family out for this twilight event. There’s craft beer and wine on tapand plenty of games for the kids to play too.
Union City follows on April 29th with an epic twilight race and disco party. Bring your disco attire and get ready to watch the riders dance on the pedals! The Union City course is a zippy little triangle that will challenge the riders to stay on their toes. Any corner more than 90 degrees will really push their ability to stay on the wheel. See if you can keep an eye on your favorite riders! Music, food trucks, beer, disco moves, ‘nu said. College Park plays host to the final day of the Speed Week series on May 4th. Speed Week is an infamous collection of criteriums in Georgia and South Carolina with a concentration in the Atlanta area. Speed Week is recognized by the best professional cyclists
in the country as one of the biggest criterium series in the United States. It’s an honor to have the final in College Park so roll on over! You can check your bike at the free bike valet but don’t forget your wallet because the Artist Market is poppin’. Hand-made wares like pottery, jewelry and woodworking give an eclectic feel to the party. There’s a real sense of “school’s out” with the last day of the series. The riders are tired, but they want to blow o some steam too. This style of racing makes it di cult to ‘breakaway’ and often finishes in a mass sprint that can reach 40 miles per hour. It makes for a real spectacle. Sound like a good time? Come on down to the ATL Airport District and join us for Spin the District 2025 on April 11th, 29th and May 4th. Even more than the racing, Spin is about community. Cycling is a social sport and even more so if you’re new. Ask some questions! Someone will be happy to tell you all about their first time racing and the last time they almost won. You might even make some friends and one day be on the other side of the fence. Either way, it’s a blast.

you to create her menu items in your own kitchen. It features a mix of indulgent classics & elevated, healthy dishes, celebrating bold flavors & fresh ingredients such as rich Banana Foster French Toast, Southern-style Shrimp & Grits, Jerk Chicken & Wa es and vegan delights like Herb-Crusted Cauliflower Steak.
Gocha’s Tapas Bar, Gocha’s Breakfast Bar and Gocha’s Breakfast Bar Food Truck: a trifecta of culinary excellence that has become Atlanta’s must-visit destinations for food lovers.
This Atlanta dining establishment is owned by Ms. Gocha Hawkins, host of TV’s Bold and Bougie. Gocha’s Breakfast Bar has been voted Best Brunch in Atlanta-o ering an upscale, welcoming dining experience, quality comfort food & an atmosphere filled with community spirit.
With her signature culinary flair, Gocha elevates traditional Southern cuisine, crafting dishes that honor nostalgia. Embracing health-conscious trends, her ability to balance tradition with innovation has made her a leader in Progressive Southern Cuisine, extending beyond her restaurants into a cookbook & retail product line.
Her cookbook, Cooking with Gocha: Easy, Flavorful Recipes for Breakfast & Brunch Lovers invites
Her new retail line brings Gocha’s signature menu items straight to home pantries. The line features Lemon and Buttermilk Premium Pancake Mixes, gourmet grits (Original, White Cheddar & Jalapeno, White Cheddar & Garlic) and fan-favorite Flippant Honey Hot Sauce.
“After serving hundreds of thousands of people at our restaurants, I wanted to share our signature menu items with a wider audience,” says Gocha.
Gocha’s path to culinary success wasn’t meticulously planned-it was driven by a need she saw in her community. “I didn’t plan for it,” she admits. “It was an idea that became reality because of a lack of dining options in my community.” Her journey began at 18 in her grandmother’s kitchen, learning the art of cooking from scratch. After a successful career as a celebrity hairstylist, she turned her focus to the restaurant industry. Inspired by the response from family & friends, she opened Gocha’s Breakfast Bar on Cascade Road in 2018. Six years and four restaurants later, Gocha’s culinary empire continues to expand with franchise locations planned for 2025.
Gocha’s vision for the future includes new restaurant concepts & community-driven initiatives. In 2025, Hawkins is set to open ALL DAY GOCHA’s in Atlantic Station-an exciting two-story rooftop dining experience. We can also expect Gocha’s Culinary Suites, a shared kitchen space designed for chefs & food entrepreneurs who need a professional environment to bring their creations to life. Focused on giving back, Hawkins states: “We are continuously providing coat drives, toy drives, food giveaways & scholarships to the community. It’s our commitment to serving others that truly makes us thrive.”

There are a million things to love about the District, and all of them shine even brighter in the new light of spring: trees start blooming in March and the breeze blows until the Southern summer sets in. To help ensure you don’t miss a thing, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite ways to enjoy this marvelous season.
Plan your stay
Hotel-wise, you can’t go wrong in the District. As a major hub for conferences, showbiz and other bigtime stuff, we have thousands of rooms to choose from: The Atlanta Airport Marriott Hotel and Kimpton Overland Hotel both offer runway view rooms, as does the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel—and its Concorde Bar has triple-paned floor to ceiling windows facing the planes.
Around College Park
Begin your visit with a fashionable brunch any day of the week at The Real Milk & Honey. Located in the heart of Historic Downtown College Park, you can soak in the sun while sipping mimosas and indulging in their signature honey butter biscuits. Other exceptional breakfast spots with outdoor seating in the area are The Breakfast Boys and Buttermilk Biscuit. Now that you’re awake and loosened up with your

coffee and/or Bloody Mary, let’s get you moving! This particular area of the District offers several ways of enjoying the fresh morning air:
• Golf enthusiasts can enjoy nine holes of regulation length with no tee times over at the Historic College Park Golf Course, one of the toughest in the metro area.
• Get the blood pumping on the Phoenix Trail. This wide, tree-lined walking/running/biking path goes on for two paved miles with impressive views of takeoffs & landings.
• Grab our College Park Mural Map and take yourself on a little tour of this neighborhood’s colorful public art—at your own pace, of course.
As morning wears into early afternoon, you’re going to get hungry. Across the street from the College Park MARTA station is Tom, Dick & Hank, a BBQfusion treat any day of the week. They’ve got all the flavors of seating, from indoor tables to a cheery enclosed patio to pet-positive al fresco dining.
If you’re in possession of a vehicle, you might also consider Historic Green Manor Restaurant about 10 miles down the road. There, you can enjoy an authentic Southern buffet on the enclosed veranda of a 1910 manor, where the rooms have been
decorated in various themes of the time. Spend your afternoon doing whatever tickles your fancy, because there’s no shortage of shopping and activities in the District. We recommend including a stop at the Chick-fil-A Backstage Tour. Explore the grounds, dive into the history of the chicken sandwich & get a close-up look at the Cathy collection of classic automobiles (especially the Batmobile).
Once you’ve had your fill of all this doing, let’s get back to eating! Grab a sidewalk table at Party of 5 by Metrowest. Weekday happy hour includes specials on drinks & appetizers, like their perfectly seasoned salmon bites or spinach & artichoke dip. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Monday or Tuesday? Reroute to Bole. It’s open seven days a week with outstanding traditional Ethiopian plates and outdoor seating. Or try La Fiesta on Virginia Avenue for Mexican cuisine with indoor and outdoor seating..
After dinner, head to popular neighborhood hangout Brake Pad to relax on the patio with a beer and reflect on your day. Brake Pad is one of those buildings that lived a previous life as a service station, with overhead doors all around. On a nice night, they roll up the walls and the whole place pretty much becomes a patio.
First, wake up hungry, because today begins at one of Metro Atlanta’s favorite creative brunch spots, Folk Art. Kid-friendly, dog-friendly, with a patio, full-service bar & great service, this place offers well-executed breakfast staples alongside inventive plates (think cheddar jalapeno grit fritters, or roasted pork & chilis over eggs and queso).
Depending on the makeup of your group, you’ve got your choice of exhilarating outdoor activities for this morning’s outing:
• If you’re with kids, check out the playground at
Jess Lucas Park. Adults will also enjoy the art and green space at this peaceful and well-maintained city park.
• If you’re with dogs, they’ll love letting loose at the John Lewis dog park.
• Skaters, scooters or other rolling daredevils: visit Hapeville Skate Park at Tom E. Morris Sports Complex, with ramps for a variety of skill levels. When you’re ready for lunch, there’s a hidden gem to try whether flying in or out of the area. Airport View Restaurant offers from-scratch comfort food served fast, but the real attraction is the view for which the restaurant is named. Airport View Restaurant is open 10am-3pm weekdays. Another choice: treat yourself to a meal at the ritzy Restaurant 356 (in the Porsche Experience Center) overlooking both the airport and the Porsche test tracks (reservations needed-open Tuesday-Saturday for lunch).
When you’ve had your fill of planes, it’s time for a walk in the sunshine. Head up Atlanta Avenue to see the Mischief Managed mural at Jess Lucas Park. From there, take a walk to view the many Downtown Hapeville murals (don’t forget your Mural Map!). Head back to the west along South Central Avenue & you’ll get an eyeful of the iconic Aviation Heritage mural at the corner of Virginia Avenue. You’ll notice your Mural Map includes the Hapeville Depot Museum, near Jess Lucas Park—even though there’s no mural there! We added it because local art

exhibitions are regularly hosted inside and we think it makes a stellar stop on any art walk.
Dinner? Scope out a spot on the dining patio in front of Dua Vietnamese Restaurant. You can order from their inventive Vietnamese menu made from traditional Vietnamese recipes in a casual dining atmosphere.
As your visit draws to a close, make your last drink in the District one to remember. On Virginia Avenue, Hammer’s Goodtime Emporium is a beach-themed bar in our well and truly land-

locked District. Pass the time with a Mai Tai in hand and play beach volleyball.
The thing to know: Not everybody’s up for a one-of-a-kind dive bar experience, so if you are feeling an upscale evening, check out Café Bellian elevated cocktail bar with light bites and cozy outdoor seating. And if your glamorous night goes longer than intended, don’t worry: in the morning, Café Belli reopens as a coffee bar.
