Hello, from GMA Headquarters! This year’s GMA Dove Awards will be like no other! There won’t be an arena or a live audience, but I’m happy to say we have created an unforgettable program to recognize our incredible creative community. We may still be in the midst of a pandemic, and facing the pain of social injustice, but one thing we know is true. God is still in our midst. He’s using our diverse group of artists, modern-day Christian soldiers, to share hope and healing through the life changing message in our music. The mission of the Gospel Music Association is to expose, promote and celebrate the gospel through music and media, a hallmark that means more now than ever before. The Dove Awards are not just about awards or bright lights. While our goal has always been to fill the atmosphere with the sounds of heaven, this year we are taking an even deeper approach. By telling the stories behind the songs and revealing the hearts of our artists and their commitment to Christ, we are proclaiming the power of love to the world. We have the unique opportunity to use the universal language of music and all its different styles to pierce the darkness, demonstrate unity and point the way to a faithful God. This year, our show theme is Carry The Change. As you watch, it is our desire that not only will you be inspired, but you’ll consider positive ways to move forward as a result of all you’ve experienced this year. Let’s not forget the important lessons we’ve learned. As we pray “Thy Kingdom come on Earth as it is in heaven” each one of us can be a part of that change by living out kingdom principles. Special thanks to our broadcast partner TBN for walking with us through uncharted territory and allowing us to bring you this special Dove Awards program. Thanks also to our sponsors, Christian Health Care Ministries, CCLI and Love Justice International. You are truly the wind beneath our wings. Without you this would not be possible. Thanks to all our artists for coming from near and far to display God’s diverse kingdom at its best. Thank you to our producers for your vision and for taking us to a beautiful place we didn’t know was possible. Finally, I’m grateful for the stellar GMA Team. You are true champions! Your hard work and dedication were matched by your ability to pivot and stretch for the greater good. Until we can meet again, stay safe and may God bless you all,

Jackie Patillo President & Executive Director 51ST ANNUAL DOVE AWARDS

FROM THE GOVERNOR Dear Friends, Christian and Gospel music has a long and storied tradition in our state. As governor, I am pleased to offer my congratulations to the artists and industry professionals being honored tonight. I would also like to recognize the numerous contributions that all the artists and the Gospel Music Association have made to our great state. I am proud to be the governor of a state that is home to music of all genres and recognize the talented individuals who carry gospel music around the world. Tennesseans hear your songs in their homes and in their hearts, providing a note of grace to each moment. Inspiring so many to renew their faith and understand their purpose, the music and artists celebrated this night are more than a thriving Tennessee industry. In this time of unprecedented challenges, people need the uplifting and encouraging message that Gospel music provides more than ever. Again, welcome to the 2020 GMA Dove Awards. Maria and I send our very best wishes for a wonderful and memorable evening. Warmest Regards,

Bill Lee Governor of Tennessee

chris renzema Shifting seamlessly from indie rock to folk worship to Americana, Renzema’s voice and lyrics cut to the bone singing about hope and echoing the universality of both pain and praise. With more than 36 million audio streams of his first album, I’ll Be The Branches, over one million Spotify track saves over the last 12 months and Pandora naming him a 2020 “Artist to Watch,” Renzema’s groundswell continues to build, all organically. “The music we’re making isn’t being engineered to hit any playlists or radio or anything like that,” says Renzema. “The strategy is to let it hit the people that want it already and let that inform where it’s going. We’re taking the toolbox we have and refining it, not adjusting or changing or moving it.”

GMA UPDATE The GMA, like many of you, is figuring out how to best pivot and serve during this incredible time of change. In response to the ongoing crisis of COVID-19, the Gospel Music Association has been hard at work restructuring upcoming events and creating new outlets to meet the needs of their membership during this global pandemic.

education - GMA academy app launch Like many other events during this season, our annual IMMERSE Conference, designed to educate the next generation of artists, songwriters and worship leaders, had to be cancelled. However, it gave us an opportunity to re-envision the service in a way that could benefit more people all while making it more affordable. We’re thrilled to share that we launched our educational initiative, branded the GMA Academy program, via a mobile app! The app houses 70+ hours of educational audio content, videos, song evaluation, networking capabilities and more. More info on the GMA Academy can be found at gospelmusic.org/gmaacademy.

GMA Academy members have access to many different features within the app.

Choose from many different categories and levels of courses.

GMA covid-19 relief fund The GMA Foundation is actively distributing needed funds to crew members and musicians most affected by the pandemic. Active since the onset of quarantine, additional info on the fund can be found here: gospelmusic.org/gmafoundation
