GOWEEKLY 18 2016 HOROSCOPE

ARIES

March, 21 - April 20 You might find yourself hosting an impromptu social event and more people could show up than you initially counted on. Don't worry about it, however. The party should be enjoyable for everyone even if the place is a bit crowded.

GEMINI

May, 21 - June 20 Career matters should be going very well for you Gemini. A sudden change regarding your work could catapult you into a position you've been hoping to reach for a long time. A rise in income could result.

Famous Taurus

Chris Brown Born: May 05, 1989

TAURUS

April, 20 - May, 20 A festival, rally, or other mass event could occur in your community. It could center on a social, ecological, or political issue. You could well decide to attend in the company of a romantic partner, and perhaps a group of friends, too. This event could prove exciting for you, although some of what you learn there might be unsettling. Take a notebook and plenty of pens. You'll want to keep a record Wellness You may want to do some kind of volunteer work. Helping the needy is a year-round opportunity, not limited to certain special occasions. Pay attention to this part of yourself and to your outgoing nature. If you have like-minded friends, try to start planning a day or two of service in advance. There are so many opportunities for giving of yourself that you may have a hard time deciding where to focus your attention.

2

CANCER

June, 21 - July, 22 A sudden desire to expand your horizons could have you and possibly a romantic partner considering returning to school, perhaps for an advanced degree. The school you're considering, however, might be located in another state or even a foreign country. Following through with your desire could require some careful planning.

LIBRA

September, 23 - October, 22 Have you been thinking about getting fit by investing in some exercise equipment? If so this might be the day to actually go out and get it. Don't be surprised if friends, relatives, and neighbors all want to come over and try it out.

SCORPIO

October, 23 - November, 22 Your curiosity and creative energy may be stimulated by information you receive from books, documentaries, or conversations with people familiar with the field you're exploring. As a result, , you could come up with an innovative new project that keeps you and some colleagues busy for a long time.

SAGITTARIUS

November, 23 - December, 21 A female visitor could come to your door with some interesting, useful information. It might involve anything from stock market trends to a forthcoming wedding to occult and metaphysical matters. Whatever it is, you'll find it captivating, and might just sit and listen to your guest for quite a while.

CAPRICORN ARIES - “The party

should be enjoyable for everyone even if the place is a bit crowded.

LEO

July, 23 - August, 22 Some new ideas for expanding your horizons on some level could come to you through an unexpected source, possibly even dreams or visions. If an idea does come through a dream or flash of insight, don't write it off as crazy.

VIRGO

August, 23 - September, 22 Ideas for a new enterprise, which could be anything from a party to a vacation to a new business, could have you spending a lot of time on the phone Virgo. You'll need to consult with people who know about what you want to do and at least lay the groundwork for making solid arrangements.

November, 22 - January, 20 Your relationships with just about everyone, friends, relatives, colleagues, and romantic partners - should be going very well. Your communication is good, and your ability to see the other person's point of view is clearer than usual.

AQUARIUS

January, 21 - February, 20 Relations with colleagues on the job could be very cooperative, probably because you're about to complete a project of some kind that could result in higher income for everyone. Communication should be open and honest, and for once you'll probably be able to reach everyone you phone without having to leave any messages.

PISCES

February, 21 - March, 20 Friendships and romantic bonds should provide a rich source of support and good companionship. Conversation is likely to be light, covering general matters like current events and the weather, but this might be just what you need right now.

Tired Ne-Yo in awe at new fatherhood R&B star Ne-Yo is struggling with sleep deprivation as his newborn son is always awake. The So Sick hitmaker and his wife, Crystal Renay, welcomed their first child together; son ‘Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr.,’ on March 16 and Ne-Yo admits new fatherhood is everything he remembers it to be.

"I haven't slept in about 14 days"

The singer, who also has two children from a previous relationship, reveals his baby boy, nicknamed Prince SJ, is a relatively quiet kid, but he doesn't like to sleep.

"I haven't slept in about 14 days," he told People.com as he enjoyed a night out on Wednesday at the 33rd Annual ASCAP Pop Awards in Los Angeles. "I'm loving every minute of it." "He's actually a really good baby," Ne-Yo continued. "He doesn't cry much, he just doesn't sleep at all. So if he's awake, I gotta be awake, so that's how that goes."

Family give blessing to Whitney Houston documentary Whitney Houston's family have given their blessing to an 'unvarnished' documentary about the late star. The Whitney Houston project, the first to be officially authorized by the singer's estate since her death aged 48 in 2012, will be helmed by Academy Award-winning Scottish director Kevin Macdonald. Like recent Oscar-winning documentary Amy (Winehouse), the Whitney film is set to examine the highs and lows of the singer’s dramatic career.

Beyonce put the Jay Z cheating rumours to rest by dedicating a song to her 'beautiful husband' during her tour opening show in Miami, Florida. The pop superstar reignited rumours her husband of eight years had been unfaithful when she released new album Lemonade, which featured lyrics detailing a broken

marriage, on Saturday April 23. However, the pair put on a united front ahead of the opening of the Formation World Tour in Miami on Wednesday night April 27 as Jay Z was spotted at rehearsals and he later watched Beyonce perform her hits from the audience. Beyonce finally put the rumours to rest and publicly declared her love for Jay Z and their four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy as she closed the show with Halo.

GOWEEKLY 18 2016 COVER STORY

Jeon Arvani:

Mr. Dushi Bida Jonathan Thiel aka Jeon Arvani was born and raised in a tough part of Aruba called Santa Cruz. Many would think that growing up in a rough environment would not really encourage you to do better or even become a better person. Jeon is living proof that this is possible, that one can make something of themselves no matter the circumstances. Fresh of his new hit single 'Dushi Bida', which oozes positivity, GoWeekly spoke to Jeon about life, his career and future plans. Text: Hayson Nicholls | Photography: Luis Mejia

"Music is an inspiration, a blessing and a refuge for me, especially as a young kid seeing certain things that a kid should never see."

COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 18 2016

How was it growing up in Santa Cruz? "I was born in a humble home. The surroundings were rough, but we made the best of it. One thing that kept me going was the music that was always present. My father played the piano and my uncle was a music producer who played several instruments."

What was the influence of music on your life growing up till now? "Music has always had a profound impact on me. I feel like I was born with music in my heart. So much so that I would get more exited entering a music store than a toy store when I was younger. Music is an inspiration, a blessing and a refuge for me, especially as a young kid seeing certain things that a kid should never see."

How were you discovered? "When I was 14 years old I joined a gaita group where I played different instruments. I made a song that became a hit in Aruba. After our first presentation on TV I received a message from Janiro Eisden saying that he wanted to meet me. I was always a big fan of Basic One so I was honored. We met up the same day at my studio. I played all my songs for him. His reaction was that he wanted to work with me because he thought that I had a lot of talent. The rest is history."

You combine Aruban cultural music with mostly urban music. Why did you choose for this approach? "Since I was a little kid I loved folklore music. I participated in many folklore competitions and it always stuck on me. When I got older I was introduced to hip hop. So it was easy for me to combine my 2 loves."

Did you expect that ‘Dushi Bida’ would be such a huge hit in such a short time? "I’ve had many hits in the past that were related to others. This hit is my most personal yet. This was from a personal experience, so for people to pick it up and love it this much is truly fulfilling. Janiro told me when I first let him hear it that this would be a massive hit and it was true."

Explain this personal experience. "I moved to The Netherlands and it was hard in the beginning. I was a simple island boy trying to adjust in the big world.

I was at Nijmegen station when I saw a guy sitting on the ground with his head down praying. I walked up to him and gave him some change for food. He looked up and I recognized this person. It was an old friend from Santa Cruz. I was stunned to see him like that after 15 years. This really had an impact on me and it formed my inspiration to write the song."

You posted a picture online where you were standing with an Executive from a music label. What was that about? "I am working on my international career right now. I want Jeon Arvani to become a household name by bringing music of my region (Caribbean) to the masses. I have a song with Sean Paul coming up; I have a project with DJ Chuckie and a remix with Chino y Nacho pending. I am in talks to sign to a major label and big things are going to happen. Good vibes only."

GOWEEKLY 18 2015 ADVERTORIAL

Art Rules Curaçao is Back! With a set of new teachers, new location and the new workshop specially offered for writers and emcees, Creative Writing!

Art Rules Curaçao known as the workshop program to take over the summer is back with international Artists from around the world, offering Curaçaoan youth age 13-23 to once again join this Educational Arts Program from July 25th till August 5th.

In 2014 Art Rules kicked off at Luna Blou and La Tentashon becoming an instant success hosting more than a hundred students whom all have the ambition to develop their artistic skills. Presenting a platform for Arts Education, aspiring artistic teenagers

www.artrules.org

16

@artrulesU

got the opportunity to participate in workshops including DJ, Music & Performance, Creative Media, Theater, Dance and Street Art.

Rental, Avila, Prins Bernard Cultuur Fonds, Rotary Club of Curaçao, Digicel, Chata, Fun miles and Curaçao Airport Partners.

This year Art Rules Curaçao will introduce a new workshop in Creative Writing for which it is seeking all aspiring writers, poets and emcees to sign up. The workshop will be offered by a legendary Poet, whose name is soon to be revealed.

Also on board is Art Rules’ loyal partner Aruba Airport who this year made a significant donation for a group of Aruban Art Rulers to fly to Curaçao and participate in Art Rules Curaçao as a special international exchange program. We can’t wait to see what happens when Aruba and Curaçao’s most creatives get in a room together to create and produce art. Stating that, this might become the most epic edition we have seen of Art Rules.

Although a success working in Otrobanda, the project is moving to the Pietermaai district where it will be hosted by the new cultural center Kura di Arte. This location is also going to be the place where Art Rules Curaçao will host its final showcase on August 5th. A multi media theatrical performance night with all the students, in which the public gets to enjoy all that, is arts on Curaçao.

Are you or do you know any aspiring teenagers who love dance, theater, DJ, music, media or writing and they want to better their skills in the Arts? Tell everyone to visit www.artrules.org to read more about it and sign up.

Organizers of the program are very exited about returning for its 3rd edition, which could not have been possible without a few key partners including, Ennia, Curoil, Ross Car

Mirador When we hear airplanes flying above us, we tend to look up to see where they are. I still find it fascinating that mankind found a way to fly. The sight of these flying machines always entertains me and luckily, Curaçao has a spot to admire them perfectly. By: Shari Jourdain

Head to the airport Our cute little airport is so much more than just a place where you can fly off to a destination or arrive back home to. Across from the airport lies Mirador. Its location is higher than the airport itself which means you’ll have a great view over the planes. The moment they take off and land is right before your eyes, which is even cooler when you know someone who is on the plane!

Chill spot Mirador is accessible to everyone and is especially very impressing at night. The airport and all the planes are lit up and they’ll disappear into the darkness. It’s the ultimate spot for chilling out, having a snack and enjoying a spectacular view!
