Sources tell ET Online the Rhythm Nation singer is expecting a baby with husband Wissam Al Mana, less than two weeks before the singer celebrates her 50th birthday. The news follows Janet's announcement back in March that she would be cancelling the rest of her Unbreakable World Tour to focus on starting a family.

"I thought it was important that you be the irst to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour."

"We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change," she explained in a video posted on Twitter. "I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour." Fans were initially stumped by the tour cancellation after Janet completed the North American leg of the trek, but she used the video on April 6 to reassure fans she would be back, but her urge to be a mother was a priority.

Positioning is key… By: Ruvette Dirksz

In business they say, that positioning is the key- in life this is almost the same. While in business we position the brand or product to drive sales in life we take a stand for what we believe in. Having a clear ‘position’ is key element of a strong character. One, who doesn’t stand for something, will fall for anything- a quote I truly love and live by. In our quest to take a position in life we face many challenges that often expand our minds and lead us to new horizons- as matter of fact that is how it’s supposed to be.

won’t reach your destination. Keep going… ahead of you is a new endeavor. When you finally get there, you’ll see that the barking dogs and the stones on your way have made you a stronger person. And your tolerance towards elements of distraction will be so high that they become motivation instead. You take a stand and you position yourself to receive the goodness of life. You’ll believe more and you’re faith will be revitalized. Soon enough you’ll understand, that having faith is not only an element of spirituality, but a key instrument of achievement. Take a ‘breather’, not because you’re tired, but because you need to re-charge- there are great things ahead. We’ll do the same. GOWEEKLY 19 2016 COVER STORY

Ayesha de Groot Some people just know who they are, while others need guidance. This is only possible if it becomes a reality within oneself. The pursuit of knowledge of self may be abstract or physical for some people. Ayesha de Groot can guide you on that journey. With her knowledge of regression, hypnotherapy and life coaching she is able to help you become one with yourself again. This is her story. By: Hayson Nicholls Photography: Nestor G. Zavarce

Bonding with yourself through therapy

COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 19 2016

How did you come about starting your own practice? “I am a very social person; I have always worked with people. I went abroad to study and become a social worker. When I returned to Curaçao, I worked in that field, but I wanted to do more to help the people around me. I did some research and I found the study of regression and hypnotherapy. This form of therapy helps you to find and bond with yourself by going back to your childhood and sorting out difficult events that you may have encountered in your past. It is used to reboot your sub conscious.”

Could you explain briefly why this kind of therapy is useful? “My therapy is useful for people who are suffering from depression, burnout, relationship problems, etc. I use hypnosis in some cases, but some people are hesitant because they think that with hypnosis they will lose the upper hand and control over themselves. Another technique that I use is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), including ego strengthening. I use a lot of intuition also.”

How does your therapy add to everyday life? “Everybody has issues to work on, even I have some. It is not because I am a therapist that I have it all figured out. By helping others I am helping myself. You don’t have to be crazy to visit a therapist. I help people clear out all their old baggage and the aggravations they may be carrying from the past. This makes you function better as a

person. You will become more positive, attract positive energy towards yourself and grow as a person. This makes you bond with yourself.”

How does a person recognize that he/she needs help from a therapist? “When the things you carry with you mentally become a burden to you and others. When you feel that what you are currently doing is not up to par with who you actually are. That is the right moment to seek the help of a therapist in order to work on your issues.”

of the human body and the universal energy grid. The Reconnection® is an experience that ties us back into a timeless system of intelligence. It is about upping your frequencies in order for your vibrations to reach further. When you are in a positive mental state your body automatically sends positive vibrations. As a consequence, you will receive positive energy in return. Positivity is key!"

What is the difference between seeking help from a psychologist and seeking help from you? “A psychologist treats the cognitive. You get anti-depressive medication to appease the negative feelings. This is because your body doesn’t make enough serotonin. A psychologist treats the behavior. I treat the core of the problem. I don’t cover it up, instead I get to the root of the problem and eliminate it. I also use spirituality to assist me in this. It is not just body and mind.”

Can you explain your Reconnection® method? “Reconnective Healing (by Eric Pearl) is a return to an optimal state of balance. It is the result of interacting with the fully comprehensive Reconnective Healing spectrum of frequencies that consists of energy, light and information. The Reconnection® is an accelerated exchange found in the Reconnective Healing frequencies. It is a focused formation to connect three systems: the key lines of our planet, the meridian lines

Reasons why

Swimming is the Best Full-Body Workout By Charlysen Jansen

8. It hits otherwise underworked muscles Swimming helps you develop the deep stabilizing muscles in your core and lower back that women often miss.

1. It counts as both cardio and strength training In swimming, if you aren’t moving constantly, you’re sinking. (Forced cardio!)

2. It’s easy on the impact The low impact means swimming is a great workout for injured athletes, who need to take it easy on their joints.

3. It’s great for your lungs When your face is under water, oxygen is at a premium. In turn, your body adapts to use oxygen more efficiently.

4. It makes you a better runner By increasing your ability to take in and effectively use oxygen, swimming increases your endurance capacity.

5. Anyone can do it Whether you’re recovering from an injury, pregnant, a new mom, or an Ironman competitor, swimming can give you a great workout.

9. It makes you smarter

Water-based workouts improve blood flow to the brain better than do land-based ones.

10. It opens you up to awesome experiences Swimming’s a life skill. It opens the doors to a lot of fun stuff.”

Swim GPS Chronograph Watch Garmin

Towel Tommy Hilfiger

6. It slashes major stress Being submerged in water dulls the amount of sensory information that bombards your body, helping to bring on feelings of calm.

7. It turns back the clock Swimming affects blood pressure, cholesterol levels, cardiovascular performance, central nervous system health, cognitive functioning, muscle mass, and blood chemistry to be much more similar to that of your younger self.

The Caribbean Sea Living on Curaçao has two benefits: you get to do awesome things on land and you get to do awesome things in the sea! Why limit yourself to just land activities when you can have twice the fun on the water!? Here are my top 3 water activities on Curacao:

By: Shari Jourdain

Jet skiing Being an adventurist, I love the rush of being on a jetski. You get to speed over the sea and feel the wind and water splash on you. For me it’s the ultimate group activity to fill an afternoon.

Paddleboarding For those who don’t know what this is, it’s pretty simple. You stand on a board and paddle yourself through the water. It’s definitely more exciting than kayaking, but you probably won’t fall as much as you would while surfing.

Boating What’s better than chilling out on a boat, in the middle of the sea? Nothing! Of course there are so many more water activities, the list is endless. What is your favorite water activity?
