ARIES

March, 21 - April, 19 Your emotions are stable, leaving your heart free to soar in the clouds. Feel free to daydream. Now is a good time to make plans with a romantic partner. Solidify your relationship and confirm your commitment to each other. If you're single, now is a good time to set a plan in motion that will bring you closer to your greatest fantasy.

TAURUS

Famous Cancer

Jaden Smith Born: July 8, 1998

CANCER

June, 21 - July, 22 Plan a romantic getaway with someone you love. Feel free to let your imagination carry you to a whole new realm of pleasure. Go and explore more of your artistic nature and begin to manifest some of the ideas that have been rattling around in your head for some time. Wellness The planetary energy makes your quick-witted and clever mind more alert than usual. You may benefit from a little healthy common sense. Give in to your best intentions when it comes to your physical and emotional well-being. Watch out for distracting tendencies - such as doing things for other people. A yoga class could be just what you need to balance the impulse to go in many directions at once. Don't forget to drink lots of water.

2

April, 20 - May, 20 There's a somewhat conservative air to your feelings. You might be called on to get serious for a second and take care of business. This may not be a bad idea. Believe it or not, this grounded nature can help you move into a deeper relationship with someone special.

GEMINI

May, 21 - June, 20 There's a conflicting push-pull aspect at play that may leave you feeling a bit unsure of how to proceed. On the one hand, you feel like you want to plan and get your emotions stabilized so you can function at full capacity. On the other hand, there may be something pulling you into the clouds. This is your heart talking.

LEO

July, 23 - August, 22 Tell people exactly how you feel. Your emotions are more stable than usual, so open up and let your heart speak. What you learn will be extremely valuable for the future, so pay attention. Keep an eye on what is real, but feel free to let your heart explore all possibilities.

VIRGO

August, 23 - September, 22 It might seem like nothing is fitting into place. Could it be that you're trying to be someone you aren't? If things aren't working out, don't press the issue. You're better off waiting for a time when you feel more confident about who you are and where you're going.

LIBRA You have a great deal to be grateful for, so give thanks. Take pride in all that you've accomplished so far and share your joy with others. Feel free to let go of the reins and sit back and get comfortable. You've worked hard for a reason.

SCORPIO

October, 23 - November, 22 You're spinning around, and no direction looks good to you. For some reason, your engine won't turn off, and you just keep going in circles. If you can, stop and take a rest. Walk around for a while until your head stops spinning. Wait until the air clears before making your next major move.

"You'll find that you have a strong connection to your emotions" SAGITTARIUS -

SAGITTARIUS

November, 23 - December, 21 Romance is coming your way as long as you stay levelheaded about the immediate situation. Take care of menial daily tasks and then let your heart soar. You'll find that you have a strong connection to your emotions. Trust your instincts and feel free to let your heart take control.

CAPRICORN

December, 22 - January, 19 Your emotions may be a bit reserved. It's OK to take a break from the activity and simply lay low. This is a good time to sit back and receive. Don't make any sudden moves. Let the energy of the day take you where it will.

AQUARIUS

January, 20 - February, 18 Family issues play an important role. Speak from your heart and tell your closest relatives how much they really mean to you. In general, you might feel a bit reserved with your energy. Don't feel like you have to make any great strides just now. It's more a time to enjoy what you've worked for.

PISCES

February, 19 - March, 20 You may feel some indecision regarding a loved one. Something could be urging you to act in this department, yet you might find that you just want to lay low. Realize that there's an important next step that you must take. Think the situation through before you make a move.

GOWEEKLY 27 2016 COVER STORY

Nothing is handed to you if you don’t work for it. ask Mason. He is a living proof that hard work pays off; he even made a song about it: 'Tra’ P’e'. After years of working behind the scenes and performing on other artists’ tracks, Mason is ready to step out and be great on his own. His key to success: listen to your mother, work hard, enjoy the success and repeat. By: Hayson Nicholls | Photography: Roëlton Thodé

Hard wor Who is the man behind the music? “My real name is Johnyver van Sichem. I’m 25 years old. I am in my last year of MTS Technical School. I love life. I am very positive and I almost never get angry. Most importantly of all: I believe strongly in myself.”

Were you always musically inclined? “You know, I don’t come from a musical family. My father used to be the 'DJ' at family parties and my cousin is also a DJ (DJ Omi) but other than that, nobody played any instruments or sang either. So I am the first one to do so. I used to watch Michael Jackson concerts for inspiration. When I was older, I began listening to rap music, especially Ja Rule, Lil Wayne, Kabalachi, Don Classico, Area 51 etc.”

rk pays off When did you discover that you didn’t just like music, but you could make music and also rap? “I was 14 years old and my grandmother used to work at the restrooms at Mambo Beach. I always accompanied her to help out, that is how I earned money for studio time. My cousin DJ Omi was friends with rapper Don Classico and hanging out with them I felt that I didn’t want to

just listen to music, but I wanted to make music too. So at the age of 14, I recorded my first track 'Ekspreshon' which made it to 88 Rock Kòrsou.”

In the past, you have appeared on many other artists’ tracks. How does it feel now that you are experiencing success on your own? “It feels great because I have worked hard. My friends of Area 51 taught me what to do in order to become successful and it finally happened. Now I can benefit from it. It feels like I have graduated.”

What is the message you wanted to communicate with 'Tra’ P’e'? “To fit in is easy, standing out is hard.

But that is what sets you apart from others and makes you special. Don’t strive to be like someone you’re not. Be different, work hard and make them want to be like you.”

Do you have any rituals or habits that you do before you enter the studio or hit the stage? “In the studio, I need to be comfortable; stress free, a can of Monster energy drink and not hassled. Before I get on stage, I say a prayer to thank God for my success and for allowing me to be here.”

How do you feel about the state of Hip Hop in Curaçao right now? “I think that since 'Tra’ P’e' came out, the Hip Hop scene received a boost and many up and coming artists took some of what I did and are incorporating it into their music and videos. What I am most happy about is that a lot of artists are making positive music.”

What does Mason do that would surprise fans? “I’m a good cook, even if I do say so myself. I love cartoons, especially Dragon Ball Z and other animation cartoons.”

What can we expect from Mason in the near future? “I am still riding the buzz of 'Tra’ P’e'. It plays every day on the radio, even after 6 months. This is almost unheard of for a track nowadays. My new song is called 'Kontról' written by Sean Cannister, who made the beat for 'Tra’ P’e'. I hope people will like it too. I will also continue with my education in New York later this year, but most importantly I will keep producing new music.”

Santa Martha Bay By: Shari Jourdain

Near Soto in Banda Abou you will find the spectacular road to Santa Martha. It’s spectacular, because after driving upwards for some time, you will come across a breathtaking view over part of Curaçao. But that’s not all. Let me explain why Santa Martha is worth a visit.

BSure’s travel insurance goes the extra mile to truly insure your travels. In addition to the usual coverage for travel insurance, it also includes FREE coverage for children under 12 and loss of (or damage to) sports gear. For more information, please visit bsurecuracao.com.

Santa Martha has two plantation houses; Klein and Groot Santa Martha. Both date back to the 17th century, but each serve different purposes nowadays. Klein Santa Martha has become a hotel & restaurant. During my visit, the first thing that caught my eye was the amazing view over the Bay. I’d love to have dinner here sometime. Landhuis Groot Santa Martha is one of Curaçao’s biggest plantation houses, where you can see authentic furniture and tropical plants.

Beach The beach of Santa Martha isn’t that well known among tourists yet. This makes the place very peaceful and natural. If I want a beach with privacy to simply enjoy the sound of the rushing waves, this is definitely my go to spot!

GOWEEKLY 27 2016 INTERVIEW

The hottest producers in the game

The latest crop of Dutch Antillean Hip Hop artist is emerging with an unapologetic gumption that is redefining the Dutch and Curaçao music scenes. Creating a name as one of the hottest producers in the game, Zurich Musiq are behind some of the most popularDutch Hip Hop acts like Broederliefde, Jonna Fraser, Keizer, HEF, Jayh, SBMG, and Kalibwoy. By: Deya Mensche | Photography: Nestor G. Zavarce

Meet the boys of Zurich Musiq And the big bosses are taking notice. In May, Zurich Musiq signed a distribution and production deal with famed Dutch Hip Hop label Top Notch. The talented entertainer Remses ‘Muisje Muis’ Rafaela is also signed to the Zurich Musiq imprint. Zurich Musiq consists of the talented duo Nillion Davilo née Nilomar Francisca and Soundflow née Milangchelo ‘Junior’ Martina, the masterminds behind the megahit Alaka, which was recently named Song of the Year by the FunX Awards.

Curaçao roots The boys of Zurich Musiq have maintained strong ties with Curaçao and were recently on the island for a writing session with Area 51. Their love for music was most definitely shaped by their Curaçao roots. Soundflow and Nillion were both born in Rotterdam, however only Soundflow briefly lived in the Curaçao at the age of

8. The boys grew up, together with their manager Jalal Mouloudi, in the Hoogvliet neighborhood and have known each other for more than a decade. Back then, Nillion was working in a studio and knew Soundflow through his younger brother. "Nillion was already making beats and I wanted to learn. It all started in his room," Soundflow explained.

Playing with music and sound After graduating from the VMBO, Soundflow decided to study music, but didn’t finish the four year program. “I am glad that I had this formation. The knowledge I acquired during that period, I’m still able to apply to this day," Soundflow shared. “We are producers that can actually play an instrument," Nillion assured with a laugh. They describe their process as creative-

ly playing with music and sound. “We feed off each other and don’t wait until the other comes up with something," Soundflow explained. The result speaks for itself, where Zurich Musiq have produced gems like 'Zeg Me’ by SMBG, ‘Narcos’ by Broederliefde, and ‘Do or Die’ by Jonna Fraser.

Still a long road ahead The urban and hip hop industry in the Netherlands is making strides, and the duo has noticed some significant changes. However after a long pause, the gentlemen emphasized that there is still a long road ahead. “Hip Hop is nowadays more appreciated by the mainstream and is getting more

airplay on stations like Radio 538 and others, because they noticed that Hip Hop can’t be ignored or avoided," Soundflow added.
