"Fighting isn't going to do any good"

March, 21 - April, 19 Interaction with others may not be especially satisfying. You could get the feeling that other people don't really care as much as you thought they did. Keep in mind that everyone is doing the best they can. Most people aren't as sensitive as you.

Famous Leo

Kadir Snijder Born: July 27, 1987

LEO

July, 23 - August, 22 If people insist on having things their own way, let them, Leo. Fighting isn't going to do any good. This kind of reaction will only cause more tension between you and the other person involved. Approaching the situation with a hostile attitude will most likely result in a lose/ lose situation. If arguments do occur, try not to take things personally. Try your hardest to stick with the facts. Wellness Whenever you run into a block in your energy or encounter what appears to be an exterior obstacle, take ten deep breaths and repeat this mantra: 'I enjoy discovery'. When you think about it in hindsight, the blocks we encounter are often full of potential and discovery. If you can learn to enjoy these moments of being 'stuck' for the information they can ultimately give you, you will have a precious skill that will increase your well-being a thousand-fold.

2

April, 20 - May, 20 The clouds have finally lifted and you should be able to see clearly again. The fire is burning red hot and you'll find people likely to stick up for themselves more than usual. You should do the same. May, 21 - June, 20 Your slow and steady approach may need a sharp kick in the pants. Don't withhold your opinions. This is a time to get it all out on the table, despite the tension that it may cause. Strong forces are at work, so don't be surprised if things get a bit more heated than you're used to.

CANCER

June, 21 - July, 22 Try to seek freedom and new experiences. This is an important time for you to spread your wings and explore. Keep in mind that something or someone may be working to restrain you emotionally. An opposing force is promoting war while you insist on keeping things peaceful.

VIRGO

August, 23 - September, 22 Suddenly you've found your energy again. Your engine is oiled up and ready to go. Put yourself in high gear and don't let anything stand in your way. If disagreements with others arise, try to keep focused on the lessons that come from the situation instead of dwelling on the negative aspects.

LIBRA

September, 23 - October, 22 You may be a bit daunted by the frenzy of energy present in the air. Try not to get thrown off balance by others who may be more abrasive than usual. Use this as a time of release for yourself.

October, 23 - November, 22 Don't be surprised if unexpected actions from others give your heart a jolt. You could find that a strong force of erratic energy affects your emotions. It's working to stir things up quite a bit. Use your beliefs and morals as guideposts to help you navigate difficult waters. November, 23 - December, 21 It's time to implement the plans you fostered as a result of internal processes over the past few days. Hop in the driver's seat and take control. As you do, you may need to erect a bit of a mental barrier.

LEO -

CAPRICORN

December, 22 - January, 19 Generally, you'll find that people will react to your tendency to take the lead. Keep in mind that this also indicates that they'll probably be more likely to fight back. You may have the tendency to lean toward the bizarre and unconventional. Be a pioneer in every situation.

AQUARIUS

January, 20 - February, 18 Be a little braver than usual. Take some risks and show others that you have the strength to accomplish anything. There is a lively, anxious feeling to the day that could make you restless. This energy is encouraging you to get up and get going.

PISCES

February, 19 - March, 20 You may have the spark that wants to light things. Indeed, there's a fast-paced tendency to the day that is right up your ally. You should be able to accomplish quite a bit under the prevailing trends. Just make sure you're constructive with criticism, and be careful that you aren't too abrasive toward the people you deal with.

KIMYE vs. Taylor Swift Kim posted a series of videos that prove Taylor Swift gave West permission to rap about her. Taylor Swift has responded to Kim Kardashian West's Snapchat on Instagram posting a block of text, claiming that West never played her the song or said he would call her 'that b&*#'. Swift says the video that Kim posted, falsely paints her as a liar, when she wasn't actually played the song, making Kim and Kanye's actions 'character assassination'. Now, a bunch of celebs are taking side in this feud. Oh well, that’s the ever-complicated world of celebrities.

Rihanna dedicated 'Diamonds' to Nice victims Rihanna honoured the victims of the Nice terror attack by dedicating her song ‘Diamonds’ to them at her concert on Sunday night in Frankfurt, Germany. Rihanna was due to perform in the French city on Friday, July 15th, but she cancelled the show after at least 84 people were killed in an attack on July, 14th, when Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a lorry into a crowd.

Whether it’s in the morning, afternoon or at night, there is always someone crossing the streets on their quad. I’m sure you can rent one for the day to drive wild but it’s much more fun during a tour! There are several ATV and buggy tour organizations where you can ride a quad for a few hours and see a lot of Curaçao’s nature. They know the perfect places to go off-road where you can speed up to feel the rush through your veins. GOWEEKLY 29 2016 COVER STORY

"I think more people need to share their talent with others, give back and help others"

Your last project, 'Beauty on the run with Akisha' was a big success. Your upcoming project, 'Keep it 100 and shine' will take place from 29th till 31st of July. Can you tell us more about this project, and its name? ‘’Keep it 100 and shine is a project for 100 young girls who always wanted to participate in a beauty, or modeling course, and never had the chance to do it. I’m a model, and a former Miss,

8

and I get a lot of question from girls, who want to do something like this. My first project was a big hype so now I decided to go bigger. I chose the name 'Keep it 100 and shine', because I want the girls to feel 100% secure about themselves, and I want the girls to grow in life also. The girls will receive modeling, make-up, drama, public speaking, etiquette, 'how-todress', and social media classes, just to mention a few. Next to that, they have a chance to win several prizes."

What drives Akisha to start projects like this for the community? "Young girls always ask me when I will start giving courses about beauty, and modeling. I see that a lot of young girls need help with make-up, and how to dress properly. I want to help them. I love to give back to the community, and my mom is my inspiration. She loves to give. And I have a lot of supporters from when I competed in beauty pageants. So this is my chance

COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 29 2016

Akisha Albert is a very talented young woman, and an in-demand model. She has been active in the beauty world since she was 4 years old, participating in various beauty pageants, and events. Besides all of this, Akisha has a big heart, and loves to give back to the people! From the 29th till 31st of July, 100 girls can take part in the 'Keep it 100 and shine' project she is organizing. And let’s not forget, it’s free of charge! Want to know more? Read on… By: Sendeliz Gibbes | Photography: Leonid Antonia

to give back to them. I think more people need to share their talent with others, give back and help others."

of how you present yourself. And that’s what we’re going to focus on during these courses."

As a woman, how important is your physical appearance for your self-esteem?

After the project is over, how can these young girls continue to develop the skills they acquired during the courses?

"It’s very important, because your appearance is the first impression you give, wherever you go. People are not able to make out your character, or personality by the way you dress, but they do get an impression

"This project basically gives the girls a solid foundation, upon which they can further build. We will be holding raffles during the project, so the girls have to really pay attention if they want to

win one of the prizes. Besides that, I will continue to update my Facebook page on a weekly basis with handy tips-and-tricks, which the girls can use to further develop their skills."

We are happy to have young people such as you helping out in the community. Are there any other upcoming projects for Akisha? "Not at the moment, no. After I am done with this project, I am looking forward to participating in the Miss Curaçao pageant. But I must admit, that I do like working with children, and young individuals. Next to that, it’s currently vacation, so this was the perfect time to organize something for young individuals, and it’s free!"

Bonaire is the perfect island when it comes to participating in water activities. Whether you want to go under, on, or above the water, splendid times are guaranteed! This time I’ll tell you about how great it is to windand kitesurf on the island, so prepare to grab your board or take some lessons! By: Shari Jourdain

Hotspot on Sea The difference You may think, 'windsurfing, kitesurfing… aren’t they practically the same?' But they are actually quite different from each other. Windsurfing can be compared to a mix of surfing and sailing. Kitesurfing is much like snowboarding which is why it’s sometimes also called kiteboarding.

Lac Bay

Grab your favorite free magazine at the distribution points listed above. And enjoy Go Weekly while staying on Bonaire!

Lac Bay is one of the world’s best locations to go either wind- or kitesurfing. It has earned this title due to the flat, warm water and steady wind. Beginners can start out a bit closer to the coast to get their grip right. The experienced windsurfers may go ahead and challenge themselves where the sea is deeper and rougher. Let’s ride these Bonaire waves!

Stay hydrated during hot days with Pineapple ice cubes! As they melt, they add flavor to your water along with a boost of added beauty benefits. FYI: Pineapple works wonders in controlling early signs of wrinkles and aging!

Q&A GOWEEKLY 29 2016

Age: 28 Occupation: Fusion artist

How do you prepare for a performance? ‘’The standard I guess. Not eating a big meal 4 hours before performing, no iced drinks etc. To warm up, I like to do the Ace Ventura pet detective Buddhist chant. Always found that funny, and now it serves a purpose. Alrighty then!’’

Do you have more talents that we don’t know about? ‘’Sure! I write songs, and I’m a poet. I prepare a mean BBQ, and have been told that I should do stand-up. Ask me to do an accent, I just might give it a go.’’

Who’s your favorite artist? ‘’There are so many that I admire, look up to, and aspire to be like, but if I had to choose: Luciano Pavarotti, BB King, and Michael Jackson!’’

Kadir Snijder What can we find on your playlist? ‘’Some opera, Bocelli, Pavarotti, Safina. But I love all types of music, so it can range from Celia Cruz to Aerosmith, and Elton John to Jeon!’’

You’re the proudest when: ‘’I achieve a worthy challenge I set my mind to. When I see that people have gotten joy out of my performance, cause at the end of the day, that's what I want to do, bring people joy!’’

Your birthday is coming up. What would be the perfect gift? ‘’I want everyone to come see all my shows, especially the Gospel concert I got coming up. But more than that, to let music touch people’s souls, as I know it has touched mine. Just might change the world.’’
