GOWEEKLY 35 2017 HOROSCOPE

ARIES

March 21 to April 19 Aries, initiative and grit are your strongest traits. When you want something you set things in motion fearlessly. This week, don't worry about what others will think about your assertive ways (not that you ever would). What some call pushy, you call leadership.

TAURUS

Popular Virgo

Keanu Reeves Born: September 2, 1964

FUN FACTS - His first acting role was in a Coca-Cola commercial in 1983 - His first name means 'cool breeze over the mountains' in Hawaiian. - He still has the coat from The Matrix. - He’s left-handed, but plays the bass right-handed.

VIRGO

August 23 to September 22 There's too much happening at the outset of the week for you to get a handle on anything. Sometimes being busy is fun, but you're a little too busy for your own good. Sink a needle into all the madness and let the tension out.

LOVE Will feelings of passion kindle a romance at the office? Perhaps a friend or colleague has in fact been a lover in waiting, and all this time you did not realize it.

2

April 20 to May 20 The coming weeks can be a great opportunity for a reunion that gives you a chance to catch up. You might want to discuss your latest plans or introduce new members of the family to each other. On another note, pooling your resources can enable you to accomplish more than you might alone. It’s worth considering.

GEMINI

May 21 to June 20 Don’t be too quick to sign contracts or make promises or commitments, as things may not work out as planned. The days ahead could see you aspiring to bigger opportunities, but take your time and avoid making spontaneous decisions. If you can pace yourself, you might do very well.

CANCER

June 21 to July 22 To realize your fiscal goals, you need to be disciplined. Pleasurable as these experiences may be, they aren't worth going into debt for. Budgeting is everything. On top of that, things are all the sweeter when you've worked and saved for them. For the next week, find your bliss in life's simple pleasures, like long nature walks or beach barbecues.

LEO

July 23 to August 22 You may feel moved to hold a reunion, or you might unexpectedly encounter old friends or even an old flame. You could also be tempted to escape from too much routine and do something a little bit different, such as take a trip or enjoy some time alone. A big idea could prove successful if you put your mind to it.

LIBRA

September 23 to October 22 You're attached to certain people the way old trees are attached to the ground - in deep, complicated, beautiful ways. If someone has

a problem with one of your friends, they have a problem with you. If someone falls in love with one of your friends, your approval of them will be sought.

SCORPIO

October 23 to November 21 You are up against something bigger than yourself this week. Rather than waste a bunch of energy fighting it, the wise move is to dodge the situation entirely - a bold way to go. It doesn't immediately give you what you want, but you have your whole life to pursue getting that.

SAGITTARIUS

November 22-December 21 Meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations is the way you operate. No need to wear fancy clothes to stick out; simply being a person of your word sets you apart from the crowd. No one else seems willing to have the kind of deep conversation you're craving for this week, and that’s ok. Do something else that pleases your mood. Take a walk, even if it’s alone. Those are the best kinds of walks.

CAPRICORN

December 22 to January 19 You could feel moved to review certain changes and consider how things have altered since they were implemented. In this instance, the focus is on a deeper emotional transformation that may be possible if you can let go of people or situations that no longer serve you.

AQUARIUS

January 20 to February 18 Communication is key, they say. You might have more success if you’re prepared to talk things over and find positive solutions through discussion. An electric encounter could see you and another getting along very well, and this could lead to a new friendship or collaboration on a key project if you can maintain this bond.

PISCES

February 19 to March 20 If you have several choices at the start of the week, do the one that’s right for you. You have a habit of trying to please others, but you should put yourself first just this one time. Your calendar is full over the weekend, but you will still make room for a date with the right person.

All Round Band La Fiesta FT. Nando Chirino brings out a new video clip titled 'Bob Medley', featuring Bob Marley songs in a contemporary Kizomba style.

Nando Chirino i La Fiesta go Kizomba

After last year’s brief detour to Madison Square Garden, the VMAs returned to California, with Katy Perry as host (probably first and last time).

Gal Gadot shuts down critics!

In addition to a lot of jokes about space and a somewhat political tone to the show, Taylor Swift premiered her video for 'Look What You Made Me Do', Lorde performed without even opening her mouth, and Lil Uzi Vert teamed up with Ed Sheeran to cover 'XO Tour Llif3'. Kendrick Lamar’s 'Humble', took home Best Hip-Hop Video while Ed Sheeran was crowned Artist of the Year, and if that made you mad, not to worry: Kendrick came back for a well-deserved Video of the Year award for 'Humble'. Pink brought out the tears in all of us when giving her acceptance speech for the Video Vanguard Award, dedicating it to her daughter. All in all, it was a night to remember.

4

The 32-year-old actress responds to the critics who think the role of Wonder Woman should have gone to someone a bit bustier to match up how the superhero was portrayed in the past. However, Gadot reminds comic book enthusiasts that the original Wonder Woman didn't look like that at all. "Listen, if you want to be for real, then the Amazons, they had only one boob. Exactly one boob," she notes. "So, what are you talking about here?".

GOWEEKLY 35 2017 PEOPLE

What is it you do on a daily basis? Think and work on what I would like to achieve next. I’m progressing daily with teeny, yet steady steps towards the future.

What do you want to do in the future? Enter politics; our country needs honest, hardworking leaders with a broad vision. We have too many ongoing issues for a small community. I’ll just give you a few examples; there is no funding for undergrads. There are (often) mob related killings in our community and rising unemployment rates are just a few of the unfortunate examples that we face day to day here in Curaçao. I want to try with all my might, to bring a positive change. We need new ideas, daring ideas to create the future we deserve!

What sets you apart? My honesty and humor, I have a 'Si bon' ta gusta, bo laga' mindset. I am always giving constructive criticism.

What is your favorite spot in Curaçao? That is a question I never thought about. I would say sitting on the benches of Breedestraat (Punda) on any God-given day. I enjoy the cityscape and its cozy vibe.

What is your 'impossible' dream? Finding out, while I am still young, that I have inherited millions of dollars from an unknown family member I had... :-)

Her smile, her energy and her soul will always live through the colorful paintings she gifted the world.

Nena Sanchez Nena never studied under the great masters of the art. Every stroke of the brush she delivered, was thanks to the pure talent she was blessed with. Her paintings reflected her surroundings as they were always filled with a mixture of bright colors representing the sky, the ocean, our nature and our people. Her imagination was never satisfied. She always experimented with different materials such as wood, canvas and paper. Her smile, her energy and her soul will always live through the colorful paintings she gifted the world. “Painting to me is a joy, a challenge and fulfillment. It’s my way to convey my feelings into the life of others. I am a happy person and I express my happiness through the beautiful bright color of my work.” -Nena Sanchez.

GOWEEKLY 35 2017 COVER STORY

Lovelies by Loeloe

Isn't she

Lovely

Jewelry is something personal. Whether you buy it or someone else does, it’s something which becomes part of your identity. May it be a watch, a necklace or a bracelet, they often have a special meaning, triggering a box of memories to resurface from time to time. In this case, bracelets can have the same effect. That is exactly the reason why Lovelies by Loeloe came to be. By: Miguel Gonzalez Perret-Gentil

8

COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 35 2017

Marie-Louise Florence Alida Klijn (Loeloe) was destined to become a jewelry designer. Her name alone reminds me of a royal family member. It even compliments her personality. Shy, classy, determined and kind hearted. Her designs vary, but one thing remains the same. The amount of love and dedication that each bracelet is created with. It all starts with the selection process. Loeloe does everything herself. From selecting each stone she uses, to making custom made bracelets for clients with special requests, to delivering all products to their destined selling points. She does it all, but most importantly, she loves it. Her ‘bracelet origins’ can be credited to her Grandma. Grandma Fooi had 2 different craft rooms at her house, where Loeloe would secretly sneak into and ‘contraband’ all types of beads. “I was around 11 and I would take them home, sit in my little corner in my room and make my own bracelets, dream catchers and anything else I could come up with. It’s something so personal, making your own bracelet. You see it all day, it’s around your wrist, and it reminds you of different situations and helps you reconnect with old memories. My motto is if you have to do something for the rest of your life, it better be something you love”. She lives by her motto every day. In 2012 she was determined to become a jewelry maker and enrolled at a school in the Netherlands to embark on this new journey. After six months she was cut from the program. She

had trouble sawing metal and finishing small details often hidden from the naked eye. She lost the battle, but not the war and after a total of 2 years she decided to return home. It wasn’t until April 2015 that she decided to continue with her passion. She started making bracelets once again. “I missed it so much, even if I was cut from the program that didn’t mean I had to quit doing what I loved. I noticed how much satisfaction I would get from doing what I do. Nothing else has ever given me that feeling, so why stop? I describe it as being in love with someone. I get butterflies when I make a customized bracelet, hoping that the person likes it and that they can feel a connection with their piece of jewelry”.

"I get butterlies when I make a customized bracelet"

It was during King’s Day of that same year, that she tested the waters for the first time selling her goods. People’s reactions were beyond positive. That summer she visited a friend of her mother’s in Sarasota (U.S.A.) who has her own atelier. She followed various courses to increase her knowledge of the craft. This is where she met her current wholesaler who provides her with all the precious stones she uses. Things took off after that. She travelled to Colombia to hand pick the stones she would use. Her products come from different parts of the

9

GOWEEKLY 35 2017 COVER STORY

world. Her precious stones come from places such as; China, Brazil, Afghanistan (that’s where the rose quartz and onyx stones come from) and other places around the globe.

My Precious Every single stone she uses has a purpose. A reason to be. For instance the lava rock is meant to help you focus. It keeps you grounded and sharp at the same time. “It’s not exactly a precious stone, but because of its uniqueness it is categorized as such” according to Loeloe. Than you have the amethyst stones. These are cleansing stones used to purify the environment. Some people even believe that they can be used for protection. Tibetans consider the amethyst stones to be sacred to the Buddha and make prayer beads from it. “These are one of the most spiritual stones that exist. It is a purple stone and the darker the shade the higher the quality of the stone”. The onyx stone is her most popular one to date. It is a stone that bans negative energy and is also used for protection. The rose quartz is said to be the stone of unconditional love, femininity and gentleness. “People buy this to attract love in their lives”, says Loeloe with a sparkling smile on her face.

Expanding her wings Her success on the island has exceeded her own expectations. That is why since September 1st she will be relocating to the Netherlands to further expand her business. It’s time to share the love with other parts of the world. “I recently visited the Netherlands just to have a look for myself if my product would be successful there. My gut feeling tells me that the market is minimalistic when it comes to jewelry, but I firmly believe in my product. The advantage that a country such as the Netherlands offers me is a mix of races with different tastes in fashion. The population is so big, that it makes it easy to concentrate on a niche market”. Business will continue as usual in Curaçao through her online store. Shipments will come in regularly to quench the public’s thirst for her precious stones. So no need to worry, Lovelies by Loeloe is here to stay. She’s just trying to share the love with the rest of the world.

The Sombra Shade Finding shade at the beach can sometimes feel, like winning the lottery. So why not bring your own 'Sombra' along?

The 'Sombra’ beach shade will create the perfect spot for you to escape from the sun's rays. The unit works by being outstretched on the beach and having the supports filled with sand in order to anchor it in place. The folding poles work to provide a way to prop the shade upward in order to ensure it offers ample space underneath.

The 'Sombra’ beach shade takes just one or two minutes to be deployed and will work to provide protection from the scorching sun. For more info visit sombra-shade.com

Long live the Ta-Tas Sweat is an inevitable part of our life. Specially here in Curaçao. The Ta-Ta Towel is a hammocklike bra designed specifically for preventing under breast sweat. Although the Ta-Ta Towel looks funny, the product is said to be both functional and practical, providing much needed support and comfort. The towel is worn around the back of one's neck, and holds each breast with its moisture-absorbent materials. The product was initially intended to be worn as you get ready before leaving the house in hell like temperature countries. The Ta-Ta Towel is also proving beneficial for breastfeeding women, as the bra can absorb any unexpected leakage that might occur. Different colors and designs are available. So have a look at tatatowel.com and who knows, this might be the solution to your sweaty problems.

GAMES GOWEEKLY 35 2017

INK’D: The tattoo guessing game

Cards Against Humanity

Forget everything you knew about board games. You are now officially entering uncharted board game territory... No boards, no dice. Your body's the canvas and someone's about to leave their mark on you.

A very popular game right now is Cards Against Humanity. The makers of the game describe it as a 'game for horrible people' and out of all, it’s probably one of the most inappropriate games you will play. It also makes it the most fun in the right type of environment and with the right type of people.

Sources: hobbylark.com, cardsagainsthumanityreviewforparents.blogspot.com, buzzfeed.com, poopthegame.com, firebox.com

How does it work? Choose an Ink card, a Body card, and then choose the player you want to ink. Players race to guess the tattoo in a bloodthirsty bid to earn points.

Before you know it adrenaline levels will have peaked dangerously, you'll have cried your eyes from your skull with laughter. All in the name of good fun. Available at Amazon.com

Board games

Don’t get me wrong, I love Monopoly to the moon and back. But sometimes I just need something else to quench my ‘gaming’ thirst. So here are a few games we thought you might like to try out. Enjoy!

"The most enjoyable experience you'll have outside of the bathroom!" Poop - the game

Flush boredom down the drain with this fun and bold game. Poop is a game where the first player to run out of cards wins. Take turns pooping but don’t clog the toilet! Some cards make players perform crazy acts! Available at Amazon.com

The cards are hilariously inappropriate. The best way to describe this game at a party would be a night full of inappropriate jokes that you feel like you're making up along with your friends. Cards Against Humanity is a guilty pleasure that will keep you coming back for more. Like any card game, you will eventually begin to see cards you've seen before. That being said the combination of questions and answers seems to vary enough that you won't tire of it quickly. Available at cardsagainsthumanity.com

WARNING: Please do not play if you are younger than 17 or extremely sensitive.
