Your BEST You Starts NOW! Welcome September! This month we recognize SelfCare Awareness Month. I believe this is a very appropriate time to encourage us all how imperative it is to take care of our mind, body and spirit. I have to check myself quite often. I will keep going and going as if there is a “W” on my chest. No matter how often I may think I am “Superwoman” I have to give myself a reality check. I am human! I am not a robot. I want to give you a reality check also. Your cape is worn out! It’s time to rest and reconnect with self. Let me take a few moments to be completely transparent with you. For the past two months, I have not been able to sleep. If you look inside the drawer of my night stand, you will find every type of sleeping aid there is. I remember one night it was so bad, I was in tears. I just cried out to the Lord and said, “Jesus, please allow me to sleep.” My eyes were burning. My head was hurting. I was in complete distress. The situation became so bad that I went to the emergency room. The Doctor confirmed that I had an extreme case of insomnia. I don’t know if any of you have ever dealt with insomnia, but it’s a very miserable situation to deal with. I came to the realization that there was a missing link. One thing that I was robbing myself of was self-care. I had to do a major shift in how I start and end my day. I had to be intentional even to the foods I consumed, and how I start relaxing my mind a few hours before bed time. I want to encourage you to do the same. I had a dear friend to send me this scripture that states, “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.” (Psalm 127:2). I repeat this scripture every evening with confirmation. I say to the Lord, “Jesus, I thank you 16   September 2020 | Grace&Glory

that I have no need to ever be anxious. Because you love me, I receive a good night’s rest for my mind, body and spirit in Jesus name Amen!” Afterwards, I put on my diffuser and add lavender oil and softly play instrumental worship music. To top it off, I have a hot cup of sleepy tea! Hello sweet dreams! I am sharing this with you to encourage you to not neglect the things you may be in need of at the moment. Take time to make whatever adjustments necessary in order to start and finish your day well! Maybe for you it’s important to write a daily gratitude list, write yourself a love letter, talk less and listen more and HOPE (Help One Person Every day). Whatever you do, don’t neglect yourself. Your cape is tired and so are you? Don’t feel guilty about resting. Don’t feel guilty about rewarding yourself. Take time this month and re-evaluate whatever changes you need to make. Take time to embrace you. Take time to welcome the new things about you. Take time to accept your strengths and your weaknesses. I can’t stress Min.
